The happy hour special is worth checking out, especially the shrimp poppers, which I absolutely love. They're the perfect little snack to kick off your meal. As for the food, the pork burrito is top-notch and highly recommended, along with the fajitas. The nachos are also solid, and some of their taco options are pretty good too. This restaurant is underrated and overlooked. I am so happy I finally got to try it. Definitely some of the best Mexican I've had in BK. We ordered Yelp Delivery this afternoon and the food arrived in about 40 minutes and piping hot. We ordered the Kid's Chicken Tenders and Fries ($5.95), the Beef Nachos ($8.95), and the Chorizo Quesadilla ($8.25). I'll start by saying the tenders were diner quality (meant as the utmost compliment) but cost way less that it would have at an actual diner, where tenders and fries will cost you $12 plus. The Beef Nachos were loaded with all the good stuff and the beef was melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The quesadillas were loaded with mozzarella and salty chorizo which went really well with the tomatillo sauce on the side. We split the dishes between 3 people and still had leftovers for later, so that speaks to the portion size they're giving. I got the elote, chorizo chimichanga (fried burrito), side of chorizo, and medium sized champurrado caliente. The delivery man wore a mask, delivered it without contact (cudos to him because i've had experiences with delivery men who just didn't wear a mask), and was super friendly. The chorizo chimichanga was a pleasant surprise. The fried outer layer had this flavor to it, that reminded me of chinese fried dough from the bakery. I really liked it.The flavors went well with each other. The size was small but they make sure to mention that it's a SMALL fried burrito so I wasn't shook or anything. Also, it's half the price of regular burritos so it makes sense. You get what you pay for. I would recommend this to others. I don't know if champurrado caliente and hot mexican chocolate are different but it's listed separately on seamless, with the latter being 10 cents cheaper. The cinnamon stick flavor sets it apart from regular American hot chocolate and it's something that I missed consuming. I was delighted to find that this restaraunt offered it and didn't hesitate before purchasing it. I don't think i'm a fan of elote, it was my first time trying it so nothing against the restaraunt. Convenience was a big thing for me. It's only a block away. But for convenience, I have sacrificed the quality. By all means I do not know what an "authentic" Mexican dish is suppose to taste like but I do not think it is suppose to be dry and make my jaw tired from chewing. I personally feel like the Mexican foods I have experienced in Manhattan were significantly better even though it is a travel away. Service is good though. People here seem very warm and friendly. Go early before the dinner crowd because it gets packed really quick! I've been meaning to go here for quite some time now and recently has the chance to. No regrets! Sure, the sangria could've used more fruits, not just apples. Sure, my skirt steak could've been just a bit more tastier, but it was good enough. The tacos literally come with just the protein you pick and I wish they came with the typical ingredients like tomato and lettuce and is it too much to ask for some sour cream as wellll? :( The steak and eggs was a nice entree to share between two if you're ordering an app and tacos like I did, but the eggs were over salted and there wasn't enough side guac to go around since they dont include it for the tacos. I wasn't a big fan of the ceviche but my bf loved it because they drench it in mango sauce which hides some of the flavor from fish. It's also heavy on cilantro and celery which I'm not a huge fan of. Meal came with complimentary chips and salsa verde. Do yourself a favor and find another Mexican restaurant to order delivery from. Almost everything we ordered was made so hastily that it was nearly inedible. The carnitas in the burrito and tostadas were large pieces of fat. Not what you would expect when you take a bite and gag on large pieces of fat in your mouth. The shrimp tacos seemed fine until CRUNCH they left the tails on. I had to dig through each one and remove them. Thankfully grubhub refunded the burrito and tostadas, but the restaurant said that how's they make the tacos. Pretty vile. These guys are my guys. I've been frequenting this place since they opened a bunch of years ago. The food is nice, the beers are cold. There's karaoke on the weekends. If you're ordering takeout, you really owe it to yourself to come in and eat in sometime. A bit disappointed since I have to give this place a low rating. I've ate at the restaurant multiple times as well as had food delivered but I recently had food ordered and it wasn't good at all. We got a shrimp burrito and pollo burritos from the menu, I specific asked for well done shrimp and it came where they were barely cooked. The burrito wraps and rice were dry and they were no beans inside as the menu said. We couldn't eat any of them normally, we ended up picking through the burritos with a fork. The only thing that helped was the condiments (which were tbsp size) of creme, pico and guacamole. Blue Agave opened in a good location. It's close to where I live and I can say that I enjoyed my meal here and there will be a second time. I came here with my parents for brunch once and ordered their Mexican Burger, Huevos de Campo, Chicken Quesadilla, and two small tacos--one carnitas and one beef. They also serve you complimentary tortilla chips with salsa. The salsa is also homemade and it's actually super yummy! My favorite out of what we ordered is probably the Mexican Burger. The presentation was on point (see photo) and the burger was cooked well. The Chicken Quesadilla came close but the tortilla itself was super oily so points off for that though it taste amazing. Favorite part of the Huevos de Campo is probably the sautee mushrooms, they're yummy and addicting! I think the seats are mediocre since the table was slanted and the chair was kind of hard on my back. But otherwise, it's a nice environment to eat in and we actually went at a time where we were the only customers in the store. I guess we were early since two more tables came in later on. To be fair--this restaurant is definitely neighborhood kind of restaurant so one should not expect to see a crowd or expect a wait when coming here for brunch. I would recommend anyone to come here if they want to just have a nice and quiet brunch with family or friends. They also have outdoor seating and though there isn't much of a view here, it's still nice to just relax and sit outside to eat and talk. I've always walked by this place because it's down the block from my kids daycare. I saw that they delivered so I tried them tonight. We ordered the fajita special which had chicken, steak and shrimp. Also ordered tortilla soup, guacamole and carnitas tacos. The only thing that was decent was the fajita special. The shrimp was a bit over cooked but maybe because it was sitting in the container for awhile. The steak was tender. Rice and beans were good. The tortilla soup was thick and pasty and not was I was used to. I didn't care for the guacamole and chips. First off it came in a coffee cup. That's so tacky. Most of the chips were drenched with oil. I've had fresh chips before and it wasn't like this. It also had too much onion in it. I was not a fan of the carnitas tacos. It was also drenched in oil. Pleasantly surprised. The outside looks like an average place. But when I walked in it had a nice ambience. The waitress was very accommodating. Even the bathroom was very well kept with wood title floors. The food: we started with the shrimp stuffed jalapeños. Delicious. The right amount of heat. Not too much, I am pretty sure they scraped the seeds out. Which is the way I like it. The chicken quesadillas were great. Had a flavorful sauce and the chicken tasted like it was from a rotisserie. Came here for lunch the other day and thought it was a good experience. We started with the stuffed jalapenos which were spicy but well made. The filling was flavorful and with the kick of the jalapeno the dish works. The complimentary chips and salsa were also good. The salsa was unique. The chicken quesdilla was very good. I live less than a block away from Blue Agave so today my partner and I decided to try out this new restaurant. The weather was super nice and we stepped in around 2pm so there were few people. The restaurant has nice decor and the wait staff are very nice and attentive. We got the guacamole and chips. It's $7 but boy is it worth it! Partner got beef steak quesadillas and I got the enchiladas. I had a bite of the quesadillas and the meat was tender and the bite was very flavorful! The enchilada fillings were pork carnitas, oaxaca cheese, and chicken (one type of filling for each of the three wrapped corn tortillas). My favorites were the pork and cheese! Pork was very tasty and tender, and the cheese one was lovely. I was simply too full by the time I worked my way to the chicken one so I didn't enjoy it as much, but overall the dish was good. It also came with rice and beans! Our dishes were just under $13 each. The portion sizes are big! It seems pricey, but if you share or bring home leftovers, it's affordable for the quality of food and portion. Good to bring a small group of friends for sure. I heard good things about the fajitas, and I know now they do good steak, so next time I will share the fajitas with a friend and def get guacamole again. SEARED SCALLOPS I love scallops and most places wont cook them right. Over cooked yuck! This place I had tried one dish and was satisfied so I tried the other dish as well. 1. Seared scallops with spinach and crispy mushrooms 2. Seared scallops with jalapeno salsa I recommend both HORSE CARRIAGE steak with yuca(?) fries and grilled corn with cotijja cheese and mexican spice. this dish literally looks like a horse carriage. its beautifully presented. The corn is so good you just have to dive in a get your hands and face dirty cause you'll forget to eat polite once you start enjoying this corn! I love corn and this was the best prepared corn I ever shoved in my face. The steak chef prepared as MR which is the best way to enjoy good beef but I'm sure you can request more cooked. FLAN for dessert we had the house made flan which was so smooth and melted in my mouth. It wasnt too sweet, just the right amount. This has been one of my worst dining experiences. Both the service and the food here at Blue Agave is nothing short of terrible. We came here with a party of 3 on a weekday night, the place was relatively empty and we were seated right away. But from the moment we sat down, everything went down hill. Our server didn't set our table until 15 minutes after we had sat. The water came out 30 mins after. When we placed our order, the waitress didn't seem to comprehend what we are ordering and constantly read back our orders incorrectly. After, finally ordering our food, the only item that came to us in a timely fashion was the guacamole. The guacamole was made table side and you can ask for spicy (we did) or not spicy. And this was pretty much the only decent tasting item we had the whole night, everything from here on was just plain terrible. After getting our guac, we had also ordered the Moritas Rellenas (Roasted jalapenos, stuffed with chopped shrimps and pineapple. Served with mango tamarind sauce) and the Elote. It took them close to 45 minutes to bring these items out. But here's the part that was really appalling, the table next to us came in 30 mins after we arrived. They were seated and greeted by 3 different individuals and once they had placed their orders, the food arrived within 15 minutes. They also ordered the Elote and they received it before we did. When we had brought this to the attention of the waitress, it was impossible to get her over to our table. She would make eye contact but avoid coming over. Finally, an individual who I assumed was the manager came over after we waved him down. We told them that we have been waiting for quite some time for our order. With out an apology, he just said " few more minutes" then proceeded to tend to the table next to us... Now after an hour, our appetizers finally came. The Morita Rellenas was disgusting. You can make something sound very extravagant on the menu but its meaningless if you can't follow up with it in taste. The Jalapeno was basically raw. They basically roasted it for a few seconds to give it the "charred" look and served it to us in a hurry. The taste was terrible, all you taste is tamarind, and there was no shrimp to be found. The Elote was cold, it was not roasted, it was basically boiled and covered with an enormous amount of mayo. There was also some black moldy areas on the corn. A few bites was all we could take. Finally, after another 30 minutes, our tacos came. Now, our waitress had told us that they come with onions, cilantro, and tomatoes, but Nope... we got bare tacos. The carnita was dry and salty, the al pastor was dry, and the beef was tough. Worst tacos I've ever had and honestly, until now, I didn't think a bad taco was possible, Taco Bell does better compared to what's being served here. After all the disgusting food, what made this whole experience completely terrible was the poor customer service. The inattention to your customers and the inequality of how you treat specific diners is reflective of what kind of establishment you are and how poor the management is. Blue Agave is one of the worst places I have ever eaten at and one the worst services I have ever received. Overall, we spent 2 hours waiting and eating food that was horrible and had to deal with service that was appalling. There were two individuals all dressed up who seemed to look like managers but definitely did not act like them. Customer service is important, it really can make or break your restaurant, even if the food was terrible, providing good service goes a long way to mediating experience. Although the reservation was confirmed earlier that week, the host told us that they had forgotten about our reservation and could not accommodate the large party. We were very upset and the manager came out and denied that we had ever had a reservation. It was truly unbelievable the way we were treated, especially because it was the restaurant's error. I also noticed a B health rating in the window! Will never return, and you should never go there either.
