TIPS first of all: Wifi connection issues (cannot connect to wifi) mornings before 9AM during the 4 days of stay here. Some little stones in Room 11's shower floor come off somehow and it hurts when you step on them. And NO telephones in rooms.
This is my second time staying in Blue Bay Motel. I was very pleased the first stay with my mother and siblings, so I also chose Blue Bay Motel the second time I went to Tobermory for a vacation with my BF.
The first time there were 4 of us, so we were placed at Room 14 (2 queen beds). I was impressed by how clean the room is, equipped with TV, fridge, and coffeemaker, and best of all Wireless internet. One thing that I notice that's missing, which I think is required for any room, is the telephone. You have to go downstairs to use one, and also the microwave as well. They have pretty good office hours, so I thought if I need anything I'll just come down and see the office. They give you a phone number for the innkeeper to contact ANY time you need anything (and you can use the phone by the office to call anytime) so I kept a note to do that if needed.
Also one thing I love about this hotel is that they provide you with a binder full of information about the hotel itself, restaurants around, channel listings, and Things to Do in Tobermory. I find that this is such a sweet touch, I want to write about it.
So first time we stayed, we only stayed for one night, and we were able to get good sleep. There is no AC in the room but the cold breeze has helped cool the room at night. I felt like I didn't need the AC at all.
Second stay started yesterday and I am currently writing this review while waking up from my first night's sleep here on my second stay. As always, the room is clean as expected. There was a little bit of a struggle with connecting to the wifi this morning, but after a few mins the problem got fixed, so yay! I can write a review!
We are currently staying at Room 11 (1 queen bed) which is beside the staircase. This time around I must say the noise has gone up from our first stay, as we are located beside the stairs. I have read from previous reviews not just from Yelp but from TripAdvisor about how you can hear footsteps of people walking to and from the stairs and balconies, so I expected that much. As long as they don't do all this at night when I am trying to sleep, I am fine. So noise, at least for me, is bearable. There were a couple of times I woke up from noise outside by people walking around, but it was minimal.
The room is fully equipped with what we need, the bed is high (one thing I really noticed about it) but it's fine and comfortable, there are enough pillows, but also note before I forget... there are no elevators so you have to use the stairs to bring all your luggage.
The person in the office is always friendly, and very helpful.
Overall I recommend this place. Nice service. Fair price. Clean rooms. Perfect location. I guarantee you'll love your stay! read more
