Went with my spouse to get his haircut before grabbing some brunch, and his cut looked sharp, so I thought maybe I'll try a shorter variation of my usual pixie cut while I'm here, but with a tighter fade. I usually stick to my regular stylist, but Grace was so friendly waving me over, I showed her a pic of what I had in mind, and I'm delighted with how my haircut turned out. She was thorough, open to feedback along the way, and it was a really pleasant experience for a great price. read more

This is probably the last time I go here. They can do a fade but they cannot take direction, I asked for a low fade we agreed on the spot to start the skin and the second the cut started the line moved up nearly two inches to a high fade. This is not the first time I didn't go here for nearly a year because of this same issue I decided to try again and I'm done with it. read more

Not sure what all the hype is about this place because it's honestly nothing special. Gave it 2 chances, with 2 different barbers and there will not be a third. Both times were exactly the same, neither could understand my instructions due to the language barrier, both times the first question out of their mouths was, what number as they grabbed their clippers, even though I specifically said no clippers, scissors only. I have thick, coarse hair that must be sprayed down with water and combed out then thinned and cut with scissors. Nope, grab the clippers and immediately start shaving....the second time I almost got out of the chair and left but I didn't want to be rude. Only gave them 2 stars because I was politely greeted as I entered and the price is decent. Aren't there any old fashioned barber shops anymore? read more

Went in for a haircut after a long over due, read some reviews before going in, since it was going to be the first time going. Saw a couple of reviews for Ruby and called in to schedule an appointment. Showed Ruby a picture of how I wanted my haircut to look like, and she did it exactly how I wanted it to be. She took her time to make it look good. I definitely recommend Ruby if you need a nice men's cut! read more

I've brought my son here several times over the last 18 months. I've been pleased as well as disappointed by the work but have never complained or put a negative review until today. I found another barber shop over the Summer that's much better in Haymarket (Mane Masters) that does much better skilled work when it comes to fades and working with curly and kinky hair than this shop. What has me writing a negative review today is I discovered that John (barber who cut my son's hair) committed CREDIT CARD FRAUD with my card! Mane Master's didn't have any openings and we were desperate to just get my son's hair "cleaned up" so we caved and went to Blue Chip with low expectations. On 10/14 John cut my son's hair. I'd never seen John prior but we gave him a go because we had poor experience with another stylist there. It's almost like playing Russian roulette deciding who to cut my son's hair since he has type 3 a/b hair and sports a high top fade. John cut his hair well enough. He charged $16 for the cut and I wrote $3 for tip for a total charge to be $19. There was no line to sign off on and he didn't provide a receipt either so I've been monitoring the finalized transaction because I had a poor feeling about the transaction. This was not how credit card transactions took place several times prior. I discovered today he instead charged my card $21! $2 does not break my wallet but it's the principal and moral! This man STOLE from me! I'd even call this a typo if it was $29 charged since the 1and 2 are right next to each other but no matter which way you look at the key pad there's no way both numbers were typos. I called this morning to complain as well as demand atleast the tip to be removed completely but no management was present and the owner is traveling. I spoke to Jade who indicated she'd notify Ruby who i guess is the owner who's traveling smh...idk. Fire JOHN! Who else has he stolen from?! For those who want good quality work- fine lines, good fade work and experience working with curly hair pay a few bucks more and go to MANE MASTERS in Haymarket! Great people over there. read more

John doesn't listen to customer's opinions and he just cut what he want like it's his own head. He makes Totally different style if you show your image. then He satisfied but not me. He doesn't need to give me back money but give me back my hair. that means he make people unhappy at least me. unprofessional. read more

Before I even begins writing about the abomination of a haircut I received today I should make it known first that I've come here countless times over the years and have received near perfect haircuts by all of the other staff besides the barber I had today and if it wasn't for that I would never come back. Came in the get a fade and a trim up top. I was taken by someone I haven't seen here before but that could be due to me getting my haircuts on various days and times in the past. Throughout the haircut I noticed she kept going back to various spots and spend quite some time on those spots, not completely unusual as they've done it in the past and I assumed it was to make sure everything was even. About midway through the haircut the barber decides that it's in my best interest to get my haircut a different way and starts telling me how I should get it cut in the future. This is the first and only time I've had a barber critiquing the way I ask for my haircut. Seemed odd but wondered why this was important at the time. Haircut continued and I start to notice things are not looking right but gut instinct is telling me that everything is fine and it may just be the lighting. Just before finishing up I'm asked how long I've been going there and I tell them how long but the conversation stopped after that which again seemed odd. After I've paid and look at it in my car I notice why all these things that seemed odd at the time started to make sense. The person who cut my hair practically shaved bald spots across one side of my head and unevenly cut it on the other. This practically left my hair not fixable due to how short the rest of it is cut without shaving the rest of my sides bald. There's no practical remedies to this and I'll be stuck with it until my hair grows back and even then it'll be uneven as hell read more

This review is for Soo: Im in town visiting my sister and was in need of a haircut. I tend to stick with a certain barber, since my head is shaped oddly and very few know how to cut it the way i like it, but i read the reviews and wanted to give it a try. Went into the shop and was greeted with a warm welcome by the three barbers working that day. Had a few customers waiting before me but it didnt take long before i was called up. I showed Soo a picture of the cut i wanted, and it turned out better than the picture itself. I really liked that she didnt rush with the cut, even when more people started showing up. If i was living here, and not in cali, this would definitely be my barbershop. read more

Been here a few times over the years primarily because of it's close proximity to my house and because I was in desperate need for a hair cut. However, it was always hit and miss whether I walked out happy or not so I stopped using them. Struggling to find a decent hair dresser that actually understands what I wanted, I decided to give them another go, so I went there yesterday. The sign on the door states "walk-ins welcome" so I walk and and they say appointment only. I book an appointment for the next day and show up and say "You'll have to wait an hour". What is the point of booking an appointment if you have to wait an hour....? The search for a decent barber continues! read more

First the place is fast and good for getting you out the door, I haven't been during a busy hour since i make my own schedule, so I couldn't tell you the busy times. Touches up all the little stuff that most barbers miss. This place is high quality and they have a kids area. Honestly, if you are looking for a men's barber shop and you don't have curly hair, this place is for you. I told my barber that I wanted one inch of the top, and despite him confirming the length I wanted, he went about cutting most off my hair off, until I had no more curls. His rationale - if he only cut one inch, like I wanted, then the curls would still be there. So, if you have simple hair, go here. If you have curly hair, maybe not. read more

I feel I need to update my review so I can continue to rave about the outstanding service in this barbershop. The staff are so incredibly welcoming and sweet. They continue to accommodate my disabled father for his monthly haircuts, and they have no idea how much this means to us! He is treated with respect and dignity, though he is aphasic and cannot speak well at all. They do an excellent job trimming his hair, and sometimes shaving him or trimming his mustache. The worst service I walked in to get a haircut with the guy who wears oversized baggy clothes and his airforce one's. he was at the chair with the name "Elias" this guy was zoned watching soccer wasted almost an hour and half and then tells me I can go somewhere else it looks like I'm rushing him.
