Hello and thank you for following this fifth wheel purchase process from Explorer USA, Alvin, Texas (Houston location.) Purchased Forest River Impression 26RET on March 13th, 2018 after we had looked at a few other dealerships; and decided to purchase a brand new RV with warranty from a local dealership. We had to purchase and sign all the paperwork before they would make the unit ready "That's our policy!" - Really??? Never done an RV purchase quite like that before, this is about our eighth RV, have had a Class A, two Class C's, two Fifth Wheels and two pull behind Travel Tailers in the past... Not totally new to the RV purchasing. RV ready to pick up on March 30th, 2018. Yes, that is 17 days later... Noticed not been cleaned inside, was told by Jeremy in service, their two cleaning people had called in sick today, really, you had 17 days to make this RV ready... Also, had already received our first bill in the mail before even taking possession of this unit. Wow!!! We noticed bubbling of the slide panel now it was outside in the sunshine and one of the dining chairs rocked, one window wouldn't close and lock, TV had no sound, DVD player didn't work... Well after a few hours the minor things were fixed and we received a "We Owe You" for side panel, dining chair and Tracy (then service manager) agreed to install a TV in the bedroom for all the problems and trouble, very kind of him. Justin - General Manager, Tracy - Service Manager, Jeremy - Service Technician and Grant Miles our very kind, polite and non-pushy salesman, really I would highly recommend Grant, were all present during these few hours prior to leaving their lot with our new RV. Informed parts would be ordered and call us to bring the unit in when they arrived. After a few texts and phone calls the last two days its now May 10th, 2018 and Steven Davis, new service manager informed me the RV has to be brought in before the parts can be ordered, because that's their policy and we will have to put a deposit down, what??? I believe he understood and stated "You are getting upset" which I assured him he was absolutely correct and he would not want neither myself or my husband showing up after what we had been told initially. Texted Grant Miles and informed the next person calling me better be Justin. Less than an hour later Steven Davis called, was very polite and stated they would make an exception and go ahead and order the parts without the RV there, and would I please send some pictures. It would probably take a couple of months for the chair to be made... I look forward to hear back from Explorer USA, Alvin really soon and expect the parts will arrive in an expeditious fashion... I would really love to give this RV dealership a chance to make it right, headache and all, and give them Five Stars for exceptional customer service! Please stay tuned! read more

Do not trust this dealership! They will not honor signed contracts! Beware of doing business with this dealership. My brother negotiated and signed a contract with them for the trade and sale of RV/trailer. Everyone agreed to the terms, paperwork was signed, title was transferred, and loan had been initiated. However, after the fact, management decided the deal was "no longer good for them" and simply cancelled it. Their idea of "honoring" a signed contract was to walk away from their word entirely while wrongfully holding the title to his original RV. In addition it took my brother two weeks to try to get the loan cancelled for the new trailer since the dealership cancelled the sale. To make matters worse, their communication through this ordeal was incredibly poor. They created this entire mess and their solution was to cancel it when my brother wanted them to honor the contract. If a business cannot respect its own signed contracts or communicate honestly with its customers, they do not deserve your business. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Buyers Beware My experience with Blue Compass South was extremely disappointing. After signing a contract, the company tried to renegotiate terms that had already been agreed upon. When issues arose, it seemed like they expected me to take responsibility for mistakes that were not mine. Communication was also a major problem. I was told that documents had been shredded, yet I was not kept informed about what was happening or what the next steps would be. And when they did finally call me back I was given two options that was all in their favor. The lack of transparency and follow-up left me frustrated and confused throughout the process. Customer service was, in my opinion, among the worst I have ever experienced. Instead of working to resolve concerns professionally, I felt ignored and left without clear answers. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage any one looking to purchase a RV to look else where. read more

After purchasing a used rv, we stored it as soon as we got it off the lot. We finally used it 3 1/2 months after being store and we noticed fridge wasn't working, we purchased the service contract which should of helped with repair or replacement but honestly it didn't and the dealership didn't want to help us at all!!! They said their hands were tied and couldn't help if we didn't purchase an extended warranty. Pretty messed up because we have proof rv was stored and that problem was obviously pre existing. Don't buy used rvs from them and definitely don't purchase any Damm warranties or services that supposedly help when you need repairs!!! I will still be disputing the non working fridge because I have proof I had it stored same day it was taken out of dealer. Contacted Blue Compass about an RV listed on their website. Total run around on the phone. Salesman tells me that the RV I was calling about was a "wholesale" unit and that I could not buy it. Turns out many units which have clear pricing on their website fall into this "category" . I told them the next day I have decided not to buy. They have continued to HARASS me with phone calls, text messages, and emails. GO AWAY...there are many RV dealers in the Houston area that are NOT PLAYING GAMES. read more

ordered RV in January 2025 at RV show. started calling them in March about the status of the order. No call backs about delivery. everyone we spoke to would take messages and said checking status. finally 3 weeks later was told it was wrecked!! accidents happen BUT worse lack of caring and customer service ever. seems that once you place the order no one owes you any courtesy or follow up. their most important employee is named "THEY SAID". don't know who that is but it's the one with the answers! My trailer has been sitting at Blue Compass of Alvin for nearly two months, and counting. I was told they would have the warranty work (frame flex issue and fix bedroom cabinetry damage from that issue) approved and completed within a reasonable amount of time due to the fact that I travel for my job making it my family and I's primary residence. I am still waiting, meanwhile, my family and I are hopping from VRBO to VRBO waiting to load back up into our home. Communication from Steven has been absent and also a nightmare, I keep having to track him down and am just being told the same 'we will work on it soon' story. I even had to let him know the parts for my repair were sitting in his shop, after I contacted the manufacturer to track the delivery, because I was repeatedly told by him that they are still waiting for the parts. Even though when we both received the tracking information it showed they had been delivered to them and sat there for 2 weeks....So much more has happened that would make me question this company as a reputable RV repair facility, but right now I would warn anyone to do their research if you are looking for a reputable RV store. I will update with more information, including screen shots of communications, after I get my RV back. Hopefully, I will have some positive things to say after this is all done, but right now I have nothing. read more

We came to a verbal purchase agreement on Wednesday and planned a close on Saturday. I paid $1,000 for Blue Compass to hold the unit for us. After my Friday morning calls to schedule a Saturday appointment went unanswered, I received a call notifying me that they sold the unit out from underneath me for more money. Unbelievable! Customer service is horrible in the service department. So far my trailer is in the shop for a month. No one will talk to me. First I will preface this with my username was prior to marrying my husband. So I'm leaving this review as my prior name. My husband David Schultz and I decided to buy a used RV from this dealership if we could give negative stars we would. To start this nightmare off, my husband was told they needed 3k down to start the repairs this unit needed, no problem done! Told it would be done on a Friday when the loan papers were signed, it wasn't, nor was the washer and dryer in the agreement, then told before we could take possession we would need proof of insurance, no problem... then told they couldn't start repairs without proof of insurance. Again given a date it would be ready and again it wasn't oh and they needed something else from the insurance. Though in regards to the washer and dryer they gave us one for free. We had invited my out of state son and wife for thanksgiving to stay with us because we had been told it would be ready well in advance. So the Monday before thanksgiving when it was yet again supposed to be ready, it wasn't! It hadn't even been brought in yet and told it wouldn't be ready till Friday. At this point my husband lost it, yes he yelled and yes he was rude and belligerent. He did call and apologize at which time he was told we could pick it up Wednesday. So we pick it up.... The repairs agreed upon weren't completed or started for that matter, the inside of the unit wasn't cleaned, the outside they washed kinda.. roof definitely wasn't washed. The washer and dryer just slapped in not leveled. They said they hook up all units to make sure of no leaks ect. Well that's also a lie cause if they did they'd have noticed a piece of pipe missing that was wrapped with house insulation and duct taped, a tank missing it's plug. Now we live full time in our rv, their answer to this was well bring it in and we will get it done in a day! How convenient they can do it in a day but couldn't do it in the 2 weeks before we brought it home. Also since bringing this home and having a repair man come look we've found an area of rot, the A/C unit is damaged but still useable. We've also learned that the blank tank valve doesn't close all the way, a window isn't sealed which leaks into the unit. If you were ever considering purchasing a RV definitely run as fast as you can away from this place. My husband will be attempting to give them one last chance of fixing this before we take this further. read more

I had the Vidor Blue Compass dealership where we purchased our RV call Blue Compass in Katy several times for warranty work and I've called several times and left messages, filled the service request form out and received no response. We purchased a new Thor Motorcoach Resonate, the front windshield or roof leaks drastically, the generator does not work plus number of other items that need repair. It is amazing that when you buy something the dealership or brand goes silent. This is horrible customer service and I would not recommend Blue Compass to anyone. read more

To say I was skeptical about going through this dealer with all the poor reviews would be an understatement. However, my wife and I agreed that the price of the unit we wanted was worth the risk, and in the grand scheme of things the time spent dealing with a dealer and the time spent enjoying the product just didn't justify going somewhere else. All that being said, we had really a fantastic experience here. Waltzed in on a Saturday morning, kids in tow just to look and walk around in units to get a feel for what we wanted. Walking around the lot Patrick approached us, asked what we were looking for, did the whole salesman thing. He directed us to a different unit, answered all our questions, showed us some other comparable things. Not once did he pressure us to run our credit, make a sale, etc. Really felt like he cared about us as people, not just a commission. Ended up leaving that day, he gave us his card. Once we decided on the unit I gave Patrick a call and he was very helpful through the whole process. Up next all the paperwork got sent on to finance. We were pre-approved through our bank, so I can't comment on the ability to get financing here. We worked with Cory in finance just to sign all the titling paperwork. I made an appointment to come in, and he had everything ready when I got there. In and out in 10 minutes. The first and only hiccup we had was with pickup. Service called me to schedule, and I missed the call. (I'm a teacher, so I can't just answer my phone during class while I'm teaching.) Trying to call back was impossible. No one ever answers. The next day service calls back, and I just have to answer during class so I don't miss it. Everything seems fine, we schedule for Saturday pickup. I show up that Saturday, and there's no record that I'm coming to pickup that day. Nothing is ready. I have to take some of the blame here, because I didn't confirm the specific date, we just agreed on Saturday. The man I talked to wasn't there that day, so Dan was helping me. We decided on that coming Monday for pickup, I saw him write it on the schedule. Showed up Monday and everything was ready. The walk through was fine, there was a new employee doing the walkthrough, and it seemed like I knew more about campers than she did, which is fine. Had one issue with a latch, they fixed it on the spot. Overall, I would say the reviews are probably right, the service department is the weak link here. We declined all extended warranty options because of this, and the fact that I'm pretty handy and can fix most things on my own. For us, definitely a 4 star experience. One final thing to add, the whole process for us took 2-3 weeks. We were in zero rush, which I think helped. I could see how trying to move quickly would introduce more opportunities for error. My wife and I found a nice rv there. Put money down to hold it and start the paperwork process. Their finance department came up with this crazy interest rate and for 180 months on a 21k rv. After talking to my bank I was able to get a loan for 2.5% apr less and for 84 months. The dealership flipped out after finding out we weren't using their banks. The manger told us they were raising the price by $400 because of that. We still agreed. When they sent over the bill to the bank we noticed that a $2500 extended warranty was added to it. We told the dealership we didn't want it and to take it off. After that the manager of the dealership told us that they weren't going to sell us the RV. This place is a scam!! Would not recommend this place at all!! Went to DeMontrond in TexasCity and bought one for 25k. read more

Went into the grand opening in Katy and was meet in the parking lot by the store manager and service manager. They asked what we were doing there. I proceeded to tell him we came to check out the new location and possible fill out an application while we were there. They immediately got hostile and accused us of trying to steal there ideas. " I'm a tech down the road at another Rv store". Both guys were extremely rude and basically told us to get off the property. This is not how you treat any person. So now instead of having something nice to say about your company I will have this story to tell to warn anyone trying to buy from you that it will probably be a mistake. My store will gladly invite anyone to come to any event we have and maybe you might like us and decide to work here. We are not intimidated by explorer usa. read more

while we were there we chatted with a gentleman who was going through a service nightmare. But he will have to tell his own story. Our service was excellent. Our washing machine in our motorhome had broken down. Appliance techs don't work in motorhomes and RV techs don't repair residential appliances. I emailed a few locations to find out who could repair or replace my washing machine. This shop called me an hour later, told me that they had a washing machine available and could install it the next morning. We came in the next morning and left by early afternoon with a nice washer and drier. The waiting room was comfortable and work was done right. We made sure they took the time to run the machines to make sure there were no leaks or issues that they might have missed. We paid for the work out of our savings we set apart for repair, not warranty. read more

My AC went out on my 2021 RV and thank God we got the 5 year warranty. We made an appointment and took it in. The lady at the service desk was SUPER rude ! We ended up paying for a few extra things that insurance nor the warranty would pay for , like spot sealent for the roof , an awning arm ( mine got Bent while left open in rain ) , skylight above shower , and weather strip on front . It stayed there for a month ! When we picked it up , they had to fix the weather strip before we left . We left , had to turn around , bc weather strip came off again ...got home ..weather strip was off again . They forgot to put the plastic covers on the new awning arm to cover wires . The cut the wire to my LED lights , shorted them out , so the tech replaced THE WRONG gauge wire , and apparently didn't know where the fuse was located . The spot sealent looks like a 4 year old did it . Just blobs of stuff randomly placed and they clogged the AC drain holes with whtever they used on the roof which caused the AC to POUR water onto the floor !! And didn't seal the unit on the roof !! Told them and they said their wrk has a warranty of 90 days. Lol..it didn't even last a day !!! This is crazy ! Almost $4000 came out of our pockets and I feel like we have been cheated that's been stolen from us and there's nothing we can do about it!! read more

Is there below a 1 star? I brought my RV to ExploreUSA, because I purchased their service contract. Big mistake... find someone, anyone else. They've had my RV for almost 3 months and they haven't even been able to give me even a status of the repairs... They havent even been able to give a status of what is covered by my contract and what is not. I've called 5 times, spoken to 5 different people, (Two of whom were "Service Managers") all who told me that they would contact me the next day. I've received zero phone calls or other forms of communication. This isn't bad service... this is NO SERVICE. Their mission statement seems to be no more than an empty platitude: "To provide our customers with professional sales support and timely service required to earn their loyalty and repeat business. So signed papers on our new rv and starting to see a deceptive trend with this company where consumers sign the paperwork then a lengthy waiting period (weeks/months) before actually receiving their rv "working kinks out". Starting on week 3 of our waiting period. Explore USA Alvin . Told by Ty (sales) would receive call from service (Jose) within 72 hours for pick up - never happened. We called repetitively and finally got word that more parts to be ordered. Is this not Deceptive Trade Practices? 5th RV and never had this experience. Alliance should not allow this company's poor representation of their product. Lesson is - deposit to hold and no signing of paperwork until pick up! read more

In early March I called about bringing my 5th wheel in for a new roof and the service tech said sure, bring it on in and we will have it out of here within 2 weeks. I took it in around March 15 and they kept it about a week and said that they were going to have to order parts and that if I wanted to come pick it up and use it till the parts came in that they would fix up the roof so that I could use it. It is now the middle of May and every attempt at getting someone to talk to me has been futile. They have gone thru three service managers in this time period and I leave text messages, emails, voice mails and nothing gets a response from ANYONE. AT THIS TIME...AVOID THIS SERVICE CENTER AT ALL COSTS.... If they know they have a backlog of work, why do they continue to accept new work??? read more

As soon as something went wrong they wanted me to pack my sh** up and drive it to them. I don't have time to leave it there for two to three weeks! As soon as the 2022 RV was off their lot, the Service Manager (Bandy) and GM (Ryan), would NOT help me at all. There is a leak at the supply connection behind the wall, and I found it after only having the trailer for 12 hours. No one answered the phone when I called. Came here to look for a travel trailer for my mom. Luckily we were helped by Ryan. He's awesome and super nice. Not pushy, listens and showed us around. We really liked his personality. We definitely practice social distancing and over use their hand sanitizer but funny thing was he also did himself. Pretty much we got a travel trailer for my mom who really needs it. Although I will say when I call to check on status of my trailer someone on the phone was a bit rude.. but came by later that week for a walk around with Justin( big Caucasian fellow with short hair) apparently there's 2 Justin. He walked us through and gave us great advice and tips. Warranty and final check off was with Jose. We like Jose too he's nice and got through it quick. There was a few dirty spot on the rv he told the cleaning guys to take care of it. Overall I say pretty good experiences. Just need to level up on phone etiquette and cleaning guys need to clean better. I believe the rv anyone buys here should be super clean just as the ones in their show room. After all it's a big investment. Down to the last part the driver who sent it to my moms lot was great. read more

Months later called to check on the status of the camper (literally have been calling for 2 weeks) no one can give me a answer. Me and my wife sent a Saturday here looking around and one person greeted us and we informed him that we're 2 years out from buying an RV and her was cool with that and was willing to showus some models, we told him that we'll just walk around and if we had any questions we'd contact him. Bought an RV and before I signed the papers told them I had a deadline to pick it up, because I was moving out of town. 3 weeks later, still no RV. Now the power is off in the house I am moving out of, my deadline is here for me to leave, and they could care less. I told them, "Just refund my money", due them not being able to deliver in a timely manner, and the reply I get is, "I am bound by the contract." They haven't even allowed me to see if everything works (the slides, refrigerator, a/c. Etc...) Watch this dealership. They have no one holding them accountable. Quick sale. Rushed walk-though which was less than needed to famiarize me with the RV function, which caused big problems. Then, customer service and service shop is really quite miserable to deal with. Not user friendly or convenient. Careful what you sign off on. read more
