    Entrance to Blue Dog!
    Lisa E.

I am definitely a crafty cocktail kind of gal, and I love the 'old school' classics. Blue Dog definitely delivers, and they have that New York jazz lounge vibe to set the mood. All the bartenders here are wonderful, I do have my favorites, but that probably just means I'm a regular, you really can't go wrong! The cocktail menu is more like a book. There is a range of classics, fruity frufru drinks, more adventurous cocktails, fancy cocktails, and some straight-up relatively cheap options. My primer drink is usually something more adventurous that I have never had before, or a negroni if the bar is busy. My second drink is usually something that most people would think makes you breath fire, like a Sazerac, Manhattan or an Old Fashion. At that point my taste buds are usually quite inebriated, so there is no point in drinking anything fancier than a gin and soda with a lime squeezed. Blue Dog is open late every night, and they have some great music. I have been in during the week for cocktails after dinner, or on the weekend when it is a full house, hopping with a lively ensemble jamming; I have never been disappointed. Whenever I have a visitor in town this is one of my go-to places to show off Glasgow, or if I feel like rolling out the red carpet for somebody, or if I just need a good stiff drink Blue dog is the place!

We popped into Blue Dog before heading off for the night, and I have to say this was a great spot to start the night off right. This is a cocktail bar, and after I checked out the nightly special without even thinking I went for the Long Island Ice Tea, and then thought to myself , way to go playing it safe at an cocktail bar by ordering something you can have back at home. But before I could even get to upset with my choice the drink was right in front of me. It was a good looking Long Island Ice Tea, and I quickly got over the fact that I didn't try something local, because these guys know what they are doing! Blue Dog has a great jazzy vibe to it, if we didn't already have plans I would liked to stick around and hear some more music. If you haven't stopped by Blue Dog, you really should, these guys know what they are doing!

Ohhhh how have I missed out on the joys of Blue Dog for so long? Yelp tells me I've been here three times (I can only remember two) and actually, I really like this as a bar. I think I always assumed it was for an older crowd but you can't argue with their Top Dog drinks list. Top Dog is their membership programme - just ask at the bar and they'll give you a card which means you can order standard cocktails, beers/spirits for really good prices. I got a strawberry daiquiri for £5 and there's also standard mixers for £2.75. Both times I've visited recently we were the only people there, but that's because it was 4pm on a Sunday. It's a pretty dark bar inside, better suited to evening visits but they have an outdoor seating area too if you're lucky enough to get a summer's day.

I absolutely love this place. Blue Dog, you can be my new favourite bar of all time. Cocktails, a grand piano in the corner being played and just general fabulousness all packaged up is what this place is. Colin and I went in for drinks after Hairspray at the Kings on Tuesday night. The place is open till 3 most nights, and at weekends there's normally a pianist on till close, but on Tuesday there wasn't. The temptation to go up was absolutely killing me. The substantial cocktail menu got my seal of approval and I sampled a few - all delicious. The staff are all so well dressed and make each cocktail with ease - even if you ask for something not listed. You can also get a blue dog card, which gets you specific discounts and deals depending on what's written on the "Blue Dog Card Holders" board on the wall, which is good because it's a pretty expensive bar to stay in for a substantial period of time. Fab place though, shall be back more than once!

OK, so I'm not a cocktail kinda dude, but I popped in here a while back with some friends. It had a very slick feel to it. Lots of dark wood, mood lighting and an awesome grand piano. The menus are fairly straightforward, and thankfully are clear on the prices. You really want to keep track of what you're spending here - like with all cocktail places, it's not particularly cheap. But you don't want to accidentally order a few of the £25 ones! I ordered one of their mocktails. I can't remember the name of it, but it was awesome - strong bitter orange, accented with fresh raspberries. The mocktail range here is excellent. I tried a friends alcoholic cocktail - it was a raspberry/strawberry taste explosion. If we'd been staying longer, I'd definitely have had one of these! All in all, we had a nice, quiet afternoon drink - I'd like to come back some evening (apparently it gets really busy then) and hear that piano being jazzed on.

Blue Dog is my favourite cocktail bar, it has such a nice atmosphere that I've never experienced in any other bars in Glasgow. I have to admit, the recent change of the cocktail menu is strange as they seem to have taken off all the good ones. Hopefully they will come to their senses soon! They used to have a cocktail called a Chocolate Mintini which was Baileys, chocolate liqueur, mint liqueur and fresh cream. It was amazing and was served with a little selection of chocolate. I am gutted they don't do it anymore as I used to get so excited even just thinking it! They also have entertainment which is nice, a magician who has a lot of good tricks up his sleeve and a girl who sings and plays the piano, I really like it when she's there as she has a beautiful voice and you can just chill and sip away on your cocktail. I have many nice memories of nights in Blue Dog and I'm sure I'll have many more, I just hope they bring back the Chocolate Mintini!

I love the cocktails here! Such a huge selection... But I often find myself with a trusty favourite in hand. The strawberry Daquiri! I adore a frozen cocktail - and this one is delish. They also have a loyalty programme which means certain cocktails (including my favourite) are at a reduced price. Yippee! They just handed one of these cards to me on a previous visit. Some really great cocktail concoctions here. The drinks always presented well. It's sometimes really hard to find a seat - which is the only thing that lets it down for me. I do like to sit and have a chat with a cocktail in hand. The vibe is super cool and relaxed. Apparently there is a jazz guy - but I'm yet to witness this!

Not only that my cocktail (the Blue Dog) is very well-done, but the pub also provides a huge selections & variety cocktails. The pub was also very well decorated - it is an excellent place to hangout with friends or go on a date.

Mojito and a Bolt from the Blue
    Carolyn M.

My first time here, my guy and I started out our little date night pub crawl here with some classy drinks and a cheese board. It was really great. The atmosphere here is really great. The lights are dim, the music is great and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The only thing is that the staff thought we had ordered our drinks when they brought out our cheeseboard (meaning they didn't take any drink orders from us to start- when they normally would have), so we waited a while before being told we had to order (more) drinks at the bar. My guy opted for your basic mojito and I decided to go with a drink called bolt from the blue which had spiced rum, ginger liqueur, apple and earl gray liqueur, fresh blueberries, fresh muddled apple, fresh lime juice and fresh apple juice. It was pretty delicious! The cheeseboard, in my opinion could have used loads more oatcakes, but that's just because I'm a cow and we had loads of cheese leftover. No bother, we ended up eating the cheese on it's own and with the fruit and marmalade that came on the board. We only stayed for one drink and headed up the road, but I think this is a great place, and will definitely be back. They have a piano...I'd love to hear some tunes on that thing!

I heard about this for some long time so I had to turn back to Glasgow a few times in order to visit the place. Is a monday night, the place is quiet, music is somethin like rock'n roll and people start gatherig here since like 20 minutes and that is now (22.50) monday and raining. The guy behind the bar is doing his job well and professionally. The place have a piano but didn't heard it yet. Other reviews say they play it. Will see. I had an Auchentoshan 12 wood Old Fashined. Quite sweet for my my taste but this is me personally. More the Negroni drinker. I give it 4 because the place will be just perfect if it won't smell as a club, an be a bit fresher. But again, i may be on a wrong day. Still the stale beer smell is a bit not at its place in a cocktail bar. Interior design is classic and combines the brick wall design with some sofas. Here I would call it a bit chaotic but in the same time cossy so again a " - + " situation. The card is easy to read and clear, a good selection of drinks and tastes well explained. The athmosphere is quiet right now but it looks more the sort of place totally full and crowded on a friday & saturday night. Brings a bit the feeling of dance bar/small club but still have the sofas and the long bar where you can stare a the bartender trying to intimidating him. I failed. If you got already to this point of reading i will say try it is a good place to be. Plus there is a pretty large selection of beers on tap and bottle... Prices are slightly high for the location but they fit their taste. Anyway, txs for reading. Cheers!

I've visited here a couple of times for meetings/Yelp events and so hadn't had the chance to properly try it as a customer. Afternoon tea is £14.95 pp which is a pretty amazing price compared to some other places in town which are over £20 pp. For this you get: chef's top plate of cakes, homemade Glengoyne whisky macerated sultana & plain scones with clotted cream & jam, chef's selection of sandwiches - smoked salmon & cucumber, roast beef & horseradish mayonnaise, egg & cress, cream cheese and pickle. And tea, obviously. We were seated in the lounge area of Champagne Central which you could easily miss if you didn't venture far enough into the bar. It's super cosy and comfortable, and has lovely couches so it's nice to sit back and relax rather than be perched at the tall chairs in the bar. Initially service was a little patchy but the waitress explained she'd only just started working there, and she was really lovely and helpful. The other waitress who was helping us (Izabella) was great and super helpful with everything we threw at her! I'd forgot to mention that I wanted a gluten free afternoon tea when we'd booked. I mentioned it when we were there, expecting they couldn't do much about it but they went to the furthest ends of the earth to accommodate me and give us updates on how far away our afternoon tea would be. It was probably a 1/2 an hour wait which wasn't too bad seeing as I should have warned them in advance! And a separate plate of peanut-free cakes were delivered for Bex. I've had a gluten free afternoon before elsewhere, and it was dire. Spongy bread and rock-hard scones. So I wasn't sure what to expect here. When the food arrived it looked really good - and I mean, properly good. I got mini rolls rather than sandwiches and these were some of the nicest, freshest rolls I've had (and that includes gluten rolls). The scone was amazing! So fresh, light and fluffy, I actually started to doubt it was gluten free, it was so nice. Served with clotted cream and pots of jam, we were in scone heaven. The cakes were also a great selection and I really enjoyed those too - but for me the highlight was the scone. They even packaged up my second scone for me to take home. All up, this was a really great afternoon tea which is a steal for the price and a really nice atmosphere to sit and relax with the girls for a couple of hours. I'd say it was moderately busy but never noisy as the seats are spread really far apart, so you can even forget you're in a busy bar.
