This place gave me and  my family the worst treatment ever. We rented all their cottages, hoping to have a great family experience. One member of our family got there a day before the rest. She felt as though we was tricked from the pictures. She was told no refunds. My aunt was so disgusted she nearly got back on the plane and flew home. The place from the outside had spider webs and dirt all over the place. Its seriously needs to be pressure hosed from the outside all over. This is only where the problems start. In my beach house cottage the power and stove went out. They stated its a DFI switch or something like that, nevertheless after having a "employee who can fix it." They couldn't find her, she went home. So I had to wait to finish cooking. After about 2 hours they magically came back on. This seems as though its been a ongoing problem from the way they made it sound. Another one of my aunts had to wait for her unit to be painted 3 hours past check it. Yes I said painted! Who paints a unit same day of check in? Well later I find out they had a squatter who wouldn't leave dying there. the place smelled so bad they had to paint it to remove the smell. They wouldve been better off not renting the unit till it was complete. My aunt had to try and sleep there with paint fumes and she has asthma. Lastly mother and I was hanging out till midnight. When it was time for her to goto bed, she discovers her unit flooded from the AC. Her Bedding was soaked. They did come and mop it up and give new bedding. They literally gave the new bedding to my mom. My mother is handicap, the guy claims he has never maid a bed before. My mother could've slipped or gotten electrocuted, the offered no help. Here is the worst part they offered a $50 discount for the trouble. Moral of the story is NEVER got there. They need new owners and management that gives a dam. read more

The bungalows at Blue Fish Cove resort are decorated in a kitschy campy style. I stayed in the fisherman's shack, which includes a kitchenette furnished with a refrigerator, a microwave, and a small coffee maker. Sans concierge, the Bluefish Cove is a comfortable hideaway for those outdoorsy types who truly like to play outside. A private pier with small slips are available for guests to dock their fishing row boats, and at the end of it sits a small boat house with a wood burning stove and some comfy seats. A convenient landing spot indeed...a quiet spot to enjoy a bottle of wine and listen to the crackle of the fireplace after a long day of sublime laziness. Blue Fish Cove is a simple no-frills kinda place located "off the grid" for those of y'all who don't want to be bothered... and it's a hop skip and jump away from Sac and SF. The customer service here is excellent. The owners, namely Ms Judy, was very kind , extremely accommodating, and they're pet and family friendly. read more

Went on a romantic trip to this amazing resort! It was charming , fun , and beautiful.We stayed in the beach house and it had its own fenced in yard , which my little dog loved ! The room was decked out with palm trees and all the things you'd need to feel at home.Twas also very clean and organized , and had a jacuzzi tub!I really appreciated the view out the window from the bed looking at the lake. It was so relaxing to hear the small waves break on the shore all night.The owner and her family run staff are very kind and accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort! You can tell a lot of love has been put into the location with all the flowers and foliage draped everywhere. Will be returning soon for another getaway ! There are not enough negative words to describe our experience with this resort. We had a reservation booked through Expedia for several weeks. When we arrived, we were told that some sort of ownership change had occurred this week and that we needed to cancel our Expedia reservation and pay them in cash to stay there. We drove for six hours on a weekend where every hotel was booked only to arrive to find out that we didn't have a room like we thought. The owner was very unhelpful. The grounds are completely rundown, sketchy and it reeks of marijuana..... Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I love Blue Fish Cove Resort. Jodie is the best. Very accommodating and always. This is glamping for us, this isn't the Embassy suites, but everything is clean. If we ever need anything the office is always available. My family has been going here for the past 4 years and we always have a good time. We love the fact that it's only 8 cabins and we don't have to worry about the kids in a huge complex with lots of strangers. There's plenty for everyone to do. Small enough to be intimate but big enough not to be smothered. They are making some updates to the property and I'm excited to see what's coming next year. Thank you Jodie in staff for taking the extra food to a donation center, we know you didn't have to do that for us. Also the property is reasonably priced even around the holidays. We have been coming here for a few years. This year is the worst we ever experience. We paid almost $600 for a 4 days stay. The patio furniture is broken. The lights don't work in the bath room she said the breaker is off, but there is no breaker box any where and worst of all the refrigerator don't work. Inside it hot, ice in the freezer. I called the office the person told me it's takes a few hours for a plugged in appliance to get cold. He told me I have to much food, he didn't come to see what we had. No we don't have to much food. So next day we speak with the owner , Jody, claims her maintenance person didn't answer the phone. She don't care. We Ask for compensation, just looks like I wasn't talking. We are in 8, offers us to walk back and forth to 1 to put our food in that refrigerator. So why not move that one to us, crickets wouldn't answer that question. Stated the other people just left didn't have a problem. That has to be a lie. So don't waste your time or money here unless you are willing to deal with this poor service. I suggest find a place that is worth your money. We are here until Monday, today is Saturday, @11 am we spoke with Jody, have no faith in this lady that she will do anything. So I will never returned. Any by the way there other location, Baldwin Retreat is just as bad. read more

We arrived and were greeted by an extremely strong odor of cigarettes. We stayed in room 8, and although it is a non-smoking room, it smelled like a Las Vegas casino inside. Absolutely awful. I use a sleep apnea machine (CPAP), and when I arrived home following our trip, I had to throw the entire unit out into the trash because the smell permeated throughout the machine. Not only that, but I had a horrible headache that lasted the entire day following our stay, certainly due to the awful stench. After our stay, we called the owner to discuss the smell, and he walked into the room and accused us of making it up. My hunch is that the staff are just used to the smell and literally cannot smell it, which is quite concerning. I didn't even ask for a refund, I simply wanted an explanation, and got absolutely nothing. Now onto the other issues. We wanted to cook food. We were greeted with two steak knives and butter knives, but nothing else. Additionally, there were no paper towels, and no cutting board. I have never stayed anywhere that did not provide paper towels. Why provide toilet paper then? There is nothing like the experience of cutting meat on toilet paper with a steak knife. The owner might reply to this saying "you could have just asked for it" etc... But, how is that our responsibility? We paid $165 to stay in an establishment that has been in business for years and years. How hard is it to just get it right? Next is the insects. Prepare to be greeted by flying insects everywhere. In the shower, in the bedroom, in the kitchen, on the walls. Have you heard of a screen door before? Also, if you want to moor at the dock, half the mooring cleats have been ripped out, leaving only a few that are usable. Lastly, the wifi is complete trash, and if you stay here you are better off using your own data. read more

This is one of the worst place I'v ever stayed: -When we first walked into the room, there were bugs everywhere, and a spider on my pillow to greet me. There was spiders on the wall as well. And spiderwebs all over the bed. -When I go to pull the twin bed mattress out from under the Sofa, it looked like the sheets haven't been changed in a year! -Items left behind from previous tenants or staff. -Stove fan did not work in my unit. -I also have family members in other units, that had air-conditioning dripping on sheets, and other stuff in their rooms that didn't work. -I will never stay here again and nor do I recommended it. read more

Stayed here during Thanksgiving 2014 and it was a pleasant experience we had the cottage by the lake, the ones with the deck looking out at the lake have a seating area, great to have a bonfire as wood is provided by the resort. The cottages range from a one bedroom, two bedroom and studio setup, we (a couple) stayed at the studio setup and it was big enough for us. Altogether it was great. Tip: take an extra blanket if you're a person that gets cold easily, it gets really cold in the winter season. read more

I really loved our cabin that we stayed in here. We stayed in Cabin #7. The cabin was absolutely adorable for a couple with plenty of space, it was like having a little apartment! The kitchen was an eat-in kitchen with a table, stove, fridge, pots and pans, microwave, everything you need! The bathroom was a little small with shower only, but served its purpose. There is a TV in the bedroom/living area with cable that works fine. Best of all is the huge deck with an amazing view right out on the lake! It's truly spectacular! There is also a grill out on the deck which we used, fantastic! I also really thought it was decorated cute, it is painted in orange (my favorite color) with cute décor, we really had own little private cabin on the lake. Some of the cons are that while I thought the place was very clean, my husband felt like they could have done little things to take it up to the next level. For instance, the air conditioner has to be turned on and off outside. The lounge chair on the deck doesn't recline and stand back up properly. The bedding sheet did not fit the bed, so we constantly had to pull the fitted sheet back on, that's annoying and detracts from a good night's sleep.There is no screen door on the front door which lets lots of bugs in every time you use it. Speaking of bugs, there are lots of flying gnats which essentially just sleep on the wall with you, however, you are right on the lake, so I think that is difficult to control. Also, the good news is, despite staying there in the midst of the heat in July, I did not have one mosquito bite coming back. While there are understandably flying little insects around, they appear to be harmless. In addition, it's important to note that this cabin like the majority of others is sort of a do-it-yourself, meaning they don't have any activities planned and I was not made aware of anything they had to rent (although I did see some kayaks piled up under a shed), it seemed like a BYOB (bring your own boat), bring your own kayak, bring your own fishing equipment, etc. They have docks for you to use all of these things, but if you didn't bring it with you, I'm not sure what the options are. If you can rent kayaks on the facility, then no one explained that to us during our stay, which is a problem. However, I think this is true for most of the cabins in Clearlake that they don't have watersport rentals available, so just know before you go. Also, my husband was disappointed with the common areas. I really wasn't concerned about the common areas, but my husband pointed out that there were lots of cobwebs on the fishing pier and the common room where the video games and things was a bit junky and looked old and in disrepair. However, if you're not planning on using the common areas much, I don't think this needs to be an issue. I also wanted to take a moment to talk about the area. First of all, I had never been to Clearlake, and I read so many bad reviews of Clearlake in general, people saying it's straight off the set of "Deliverance" and is dirty, etc. I did not find this to be the case. Keep in mind I am very shee-shee from San Francisco and love the finer things. To be fair I certainly did not see any 5 star accommodations, restaurants, etc. anywhere in town, but for a weekend on the lake, I thought it was extremely charming, and I was not prepared for the sheer beauty of Clearlake, it was absolutely stunning with the mountains behind it, I thought it was jaw droppingly beautiful, it almost looked a little like Hawaii. Everything is a bit more rustic there but it's all in good fun for a vacation. Clearlake Oaks, where Blue Fish Cove is, is sort of away from the main part of Clearlake, and there is not much around. However, there are gas stations and a few small pizza and Mexican restaurants close by, and Clearlake itself is less than a 15 minute drive (we recommend The Spot to eat!) So, overall I found the town to be fine and the views to be lovely. I would definitely stay here again and we will certainly put Clearlake on our weekend vacation rotations! read more

I have stayed here many times but this last visit was not cool. I got there and the lady at the front desk tells me my room was being cleaned. Cool, that's what I wanted to hear because I'm ready to put my stuff in the room and head down to fish. But oh man once I get into my room not only is my microwave filthy it's a old cup of top ramen in there releasing a horrible smell. Being that I am chef the kitchen is one of the first places I check. So let's get back on track. Okay let's check the oven...old biscuits are in there just sitting on a tray hard ass rocks. Ok, it can only go up from here right? Can't get worse right ? It can....Half eaten ice cream in the freezer, I mean I almost thought they were being kind and left some ice cream for their guest. At this point I'm ready to leave but my fishing buddy says we are here now let's rough it out. I agreed, until he calls me in the living room/bedroom area to show me what we are pretty sure was rat feces on floor not to mention from the look of the bed the sheets were not changed. At this point I didn't want to touch or sit on anything. I was not comfortable and three was no way I was staying there. To make matters worse I go into the office to speak with a gentleman and I tell him everything. His response with a attitude was well what do you want me to do ? Hmmm offer another room maybe, or offer to clean it, maybe a refund or just maybe offer a apology. But nope none of those basic customer service responses rolled off his lips. I just chuckled and said nothing, it's okay I'm out of here. We drove 3 hours and at this point we were so over it we turned around to drive 3 hours home. Needless to say I will never stay there again and i do not recommend this place anymore read more

Its been 15 years since the first time I stayed here at BFC. This is now my 4th visit. Each time offered the same level of great customer experience. Great ownership/staff. Well maintained and clean rooms upon arrival. I was; however, bummed to learn that while under different ownership, the rentals (jet skis) had been sold along with my old fishing pictures that were once posted on their "customer catches" wall. Well, I'm glad the original owners came back and brought this place back to where it was and how I remembered it during my 3 previous visits 15 years ago. Note to owner.. I give blue fish cove two big stars! My husband and I had an outstanding time staying in the lake house. The customer service was great ! The room was fantastic the only reason they've received three stars not five is because I wish the bedding in the room was clean. When we arrived everything was fantastic when we went to go to sleep their was droowly looking stains on the bed. Which I'm sure was not their fault I think whoever they've hired as a maid is cutting corners. Other than that things are great and I would stay their again I would just ask for clean sheets. read more

I had a great time here :) It is a family owned business and they are really sweet and helpful. i called about 100x before the trip and Jody, the owner was really patient with me and accommodated to everything. The resort is right on the lake and the view was BEAUTIFUL. It was so relaxing. They had lots of fun stuff too-- horseshoe pit, game room, and a basketball hoop. I stayed in Cottage #8 and it was so cute. I got the homely feel from it. They pretty much have everything you needed. The only issue i had was with the bathroom door... you cant close it unless the toilet seat was up... lol hard to explain, but you will see. The view from the room is extraordinary. We went during the weekday, so I'm not sure how busy it gets. For us, a Tuesday thru Thursday trip was very relaxing and refreshing for our busy lives. BE PREPARED--bring inflatables, food, or whatever you need to enjoy on your trip. We went to the grocery store and everything was ridiculously over priced and there are not many very selections. read more

My husband and I have stayed here a few times. We come here for the peace and quiet and fishing. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is for the amenities. The game room needs attention kind of dark and dreary I would not go down there by myself as well as the fireplace room lots of mosquitos and the chair cushions are ripped and kind of beat up. My family and I stayed here for one night a few weeks ago. The staff was friendly and our cottage was easy to find. The location was fantastic, we were really right on the lake, seconds away from jumping in the water or taking one of their boats out. They had a game room, with arcade games and a pool table I think and as I mentioned, some paddle boats and a row boat. Our cottage was small, but fine, the issue was mostly how run down everything was, paint peeling, patio chairs that ripped a hole in my wifes pants, and ants, many many ants. The place was fine and we had a good time, we're not picky or afraid of paint or ants, the state of things there just didn't really balance with the cost of it. read more

GREATEST little cabin resort on the lake! Best price and location around the lake. We have been visiting this sweet spot since 1997 and the owners are fabulous and attentive! Jody, the owner, was amazing to our family, offered up several current family events, which we have always enjoyed! The cabins are very clean, the grounds are well kept, tons to do at this sweet little resort for any age. Some of the cabins have a full kitchen. Fully stocked with pans, plates, utensils, flatware, and glasses. All the basics needed to sit and still have a family meal, if you choose. We really love going during the winter, it's peaceful and romantic, love to cuddle up on the balcony with hot chocolate and blankets to enjoy the moonlight and stars. Quiet, safe, secure, and a beautiful view of Konocti. Either go and enjoy as a couple or put the kids to bed early and cuddle up with your love and enjoy the wonderful waterfront view. read more

Filthy!!! DO NOT STAY HERE.... When I rent a room it's with the expectation that there are no living animals in the room and a working smoke detector, neither of which was the case. I can't imagine this room has been cleaned in the last couple months. I expect bugs when you are next to a lake but this is ridiculous. Floors were dirty, dead bugs in carpet, didn't sleep because the bed was itchy. If you do stay here come with your own cleaning supplies because you will need them. read more

Filthy!!! Cobwebs on the walls, musty smell, crumbs/dirt on bathroom and kitchen floor, dust and dead bugs all over the doors/windows. No way this room has been properly cleaned in recent history because there were also dead bugs on the shower walls. I understand that it's near a lake and bugs are an inevitability but this was too much! The beds have tons of broken springs and most of the dishes I took out needed to be rewashed because they had food on them. The fire pit area had dirty chairs and cushions making it an uninviting place to hang out. No way this place was worth the price they are charging. It seems like this must have been a nice place at one time but they have just gotten too lax with the upkeep. Bummer..... They did have cable TV and free WIFI which was nice. Tip: at this time of the year the lake had a lot of algae near their dock so you should make sure to have other activities planned if you don't want to swim in that. read more

My husband and I had the most amazing time here. We stayed in Cottage # 8. Every morning we woke up, opened the window and blinds to get a view of the lake and all the hills beyond. You could hear the birds and the lapping of the lake on the shore. The room had a cute little kitchen, living area, and queen bed - small and quaint. There was a grill too that we cooked on (we brought a grill pan with us to cook fish). Yes, there are bugs ... and it's a cottage by the lake so it will not be immaculate. It's a very natural setting and exactly what we expected. The owners are super nice too. Take a book and your raft, stop by the grocery store and grab some groceries for the week, and prepare to do nothing but relax! I can't WAIT to come back here again. my wife and I spent our 24th anniversary there in bungalow # 8 and it was gorgeous and clean and beautiful! we had a great time and staff was great! the kitchen was clean and had utensils and things that we needed for our weekend. they were kind enough to stay late for us coming in from sacramento. after getting there, we parked by our room and unloaded and started the weekend... the lake was beautiful even though that it rained the whole time! thanks for a great stay!!! cant wait to be back for catfish derby! read more

Blue Fish Cove Resort is the BEST resort in Lake County... the owners Jody and Murray Baldwin are so kind and very sweet! Their son Jason checked us in when we first moved back to CA from WA.. He was was funny and had a great sense of humor. We stayed in #5 which was the same unit we stayed in when we got married at Blue Fish Cove Resort back in 2001.... The room was very clean, and so nicely decorated, just as I had remembered it, with a few more home like ammentities. I know that Jody and Murray sold the resort and then got it back.. I sure hope they continue to keep it because its our favorite place to go relax, fish, hang out on the beach area, oh and the fishing pier with the fireplace, is so cozy- especially when its a little chilly outside in the evening. If you have not stayed there, you have to! You will just love it read more

My boyfriend and I came here with my son and his friend. We had the MOST AMAZING time! Very friendly and helpful staff. The view was amazing and the boys loved fishing off the docks. The cabin was cozy and gave a very warm comfortable feeling. My son is only 6 and I was worried not having anyone to play with would make him bored... but there was so much for him to do. He went swimming, he played basketball, horseshoes, ping-pong and pool. He had a blast! Stores were close and convenient. We will definitely come back and stay here again! This place looked dead and dreary when my husband and I arrived, so as I read the reviews of those who actually spent time there with words like, " filthy," "dirty," and "disgusting," I'm grateful that Jody decided not to honor my room confirmation, Basically, the manager/owner gave my reservation away and lied about contacting me, about it. When we arrived to check in on Saturday evening at 6:15, she told me she doesn't do one night bookings. (even though I got a confirmation for my reservation in an email) I had booked cottage #8; which was directly on the lakefront. Then she offered to rent out an inferior room away from the lake for one night?!?!?!? REALLY???? Is the no-one-night-rentals your policy or not?! She didn't offer much of an apology and I personally think she didn't like what she saw when she saw us; an African-American couple. Based on the circumstances, that is the only explanation that makes sense. I got a confirmation email on July 8th and arrived on July 11th only to be told that my reservation was never confirmed.. Bad business, bad vibes, bad karma... BUT- Just 3 miles down the road, we found the most charming, immaculate, lakefront cottages at Lake Place Resort. 9515 Harbor Dr. Glenhaven, CA 95443. (707) 998-3331. Phillip Chu and his lovely wife made us feel at home at their resort. The dock was wonderful; just a few steps from the back door of the cottage, overlooking the lake. It was clean with benches and tables and chairs for comfortable fishing and socializing, The feather top mattress in our wonderful cottage was heavenly and the room was complete with microwave, fridge, stove, oven, toaster, coffee maker, cooking utensils, pots, pans, dishes, cable tv (flatscreens) and wifi. Mr, Chu even taught my husband the difference between bass fishing and catfish fishing; loaning him equipment and gifting him some bait. Now that is hospitality. By the way, the rate for this cottage was exactly the same rate as the rate for Bluefish. So, if you want a great resort to patronize, check out Lake Place Resort. You will not be sorry. read more

3 words. DON'T. STAY. HERE!!! The only reason this place is getting one star is because there's no negative star option! We just visited the blue fish cove resort for my sisters bachelorette weekend. The pictures are very deceiving. First the place looks like a trailer park. We combined 6 and 7 to accommodate our group and they were very dirty. The throw pillows and comforter in 7 smelled like B.O., the dishes had to be washed again before we could use them, the carpet had stains and crap all over it. There were bugs and spider webs in the windowsills, and we found a few pairs of some guys underwear in the drawer. The thing that threw me over the edge was the packed weed pipe my 11 year old sister found on the tissue box in the bathroom. I was pretty disappointed and went to speak with the owner, Jodi. After asking for a discount on the room she grudgingly offered a 5 dollar discount for "something that took us only a minute to walk over and finding clean laundry in the drawer". I was pretty upset with her customer service and said i didn't feel confident that the room had been thoroughly cleaned because we found illicit drugs in plain sight and had to explain it to my little sister. She then accused us of planting the pipe to rip her off and then offered us 20 dollars. I then told her we owned 3 wineries in Napa and didn't need to cheat anybody and asked for a refund because i didn't want to give her my business. She refused and then offered us 40 dollars. The bride-to-be then told her she works at a Hilton Garden Inn and that an establishment could get in serious trouble for having drugs found in a room that wasn't thoroughly cleaned and would have comped the room one night without hesitation and that she was going to report her for being so blatantly in violation of health code. The woman then told us we probably found the pipe hidden under the sink and that her maid didn't see it. She assured us the sheets had at least been washed and said she'd give us 100 dollars off (we paid a total of $795 for our stay). I accepted the refund seeing as how she wasn't going to budge or give us our money back so we could leave and we stayed. We bought our own cleaning supplies and left the place 10x better than we got it and tried to make the best of the weekend. We understand it is clearlake and that we're not going to be at a 5 star resort, but this woman was unreasonable and the place was definitely not worth the outrageous price. You'd be better off at a super 8 where the customer service is mediocre and at least the beds and and bathrooms are clean. The only way you could have possible confused that piece for a vase was because of the greenery inside it, which was in fact weed, a half smoked bowl of weed, I'm not an idiot. The sponge was wet and dripping and was used to clean the previous tenants room up and we were supposed to use it to wash our forks and knives we would be putting in our mouths? Which by the way we had to do because there was bits of food stuck to them from whoever used them before. And I'm sure most hotels that you go to you find underwear and socks in the drawers, because that really reassures somebody that the room has been checked and cleaned thoroughly. we NEVER asked for a few free nights we asked you what discount YOU thought was appropriate and you laughed, told us "it took you five minutes to walk over ehere" and offered us five dollars. You even told us later you were "sorry for being so mean, " and that usually you were a pretty nice person. It was about the money for you, not making sure we had a nice time. We could have parted ways fair and square, we even offered to pay for one night, but you would not refund us our money. I'd say that was excellent customer service. Blue Fish Cove resort is the absolute worst place a have ever visited it is filthy my belongings came up missing, the beds was not clean, the staff is uncaring...
