This was my 2nd time coming to this gallery and my first art opening. I've been here once before to check it out and they had a good show at that time. My girlfriend lives in Roseville and was thinking of joining there collaborative as she is an artist and is interested in fining a community to be a part of. From what I saw they show art work of local artists as part of the collaborative and in turn those artists volunteer their time to man the front desk and to assist at their events. It sounds like a nice set up to become involved without paying a lot of money to show your artwork in a gallery. I'm not part of it so don't quote me. Saturday, January 17th Event was: By Hand - An International Craft Nouveau Competition. We saw Crafts from all over the United States. We attended their opening reception. The show was juried by Harriete Estel Berman who picked 1-4th place and announced them while we were there. We got to mingle with the artists, enjoy some bites by Randy Peters, and listen to some wonderful live music. The art work was fabulous. My favorite was the handcrafted necklaces out of extremely light metal. I loved those pieces of art most because you can also wear them. I found the textile wall hangings fascinating. I quilt and it was amazing to see all the different patterns they stitched into their pieces of art. I loved the ceramics. I used to dabble in ceramics so it's wonderful to see people who have taken it to the next level and have show worthy pieces. My niece made us ramen bowls for Christmas. She made them on the wheel. If she keeps it up maybe one day she can show her work in a gallery. The bites. What a wonderful spread. I used to show in galleries and all we served was wine. Here they had a full spread, enough to call dinner. The main course was the beef sliders, the appetizers included stuffed mushrooms, puff pastries, and a pear and pumpkin or butternut squash purée. All was Devine. They even had some cookies and bars for dessert. I would definitely come back for another opening reception. And so will many others. I was surprised at how crowed it was at 5pm when it begin and it was crowed all the way up till the end at 7pm. I'm glad we go there early so we could partaken in all the goodness. Our kid was here for a summer drawing camp and had a great time! The art gallery itself is located on Vernon street, right next to the parking garage. Check in and drop off were easy. The camps did provide snacks for during their break. Our kid loved the class and brought home some fun work she did. Staff and teachers were friendly and great with the kids. The gallery itself is small but beautiful. There were fun art pieces to browse while waiting. They offer membership and monthly family activities. We'll definitely stop by the family day and hopefully sign up for another camp next year. read more

We were greeted very warmly by MaryTess on a First Saturday Drop In Day. I had registered online for our family of four a few weeks in advance and there was no cost, just recommended appreciated donation. I attended with my two boys ages five and eight. It so happened that my younger son was having a hard time controlling his body. He was mildly upset about something. The art was beautiful and spaces were well decorated but some of pedestals with expensive art pieces look v like they could very easily knocked over by my rambunctious little human, so I realized the event was not a good idea for him. My husband took my younger son to the nearby coffee shop. My eight year year old and I enjoyed the watercolor activity and the helpers leading the activity were extremely friendly and helpful, finding us comfortable seating and offering to refresh our water for our paints. It was a nice experience overall, but maybe not the best spot for unpredictable little humans. read more

I enjoyed my visit looking at art, talking to staff and watching a class in session. They offer art for sale and hold adult and kids classes. If you propose a class they'll consider finding a teacher or letting you start it. read more

I was a member and teaching artist at Blue Line for approximately a year and a half. As an artist, I would not suggest donating your work, volunteering your time, or joining the membership until some serious changes happen at Blue Line. As a consumer, I would not suggest having an event or bringing your child to an art class at Blue Line. During my employment more balls were dropped than picked up. Including a wedding at one point that was scheduled for the next day that no one was aware of until one or 2:00 in the afternoon the day prior. Lack of follow-through is the biggest issue at Blue Line. I was constantly sending emails, making phone calls, asking if they had followed through on their work and quite often it had been forgotten until I reached out. I want to say they are experiencing the same lack of follow-through from other nonprofits as I did with them. The whole system is broken unfortunately with the grant funds staying in the hands of the nonprofits and not truly making it back into the community. Unfortunately, due to a conversation with Mary Tess in April, I've been told things are not going to change. They are aware of the issues but they are also aware that they will continue. I am deeply saddened at the fact that I shared so many artists with Blue Line that were all hugely disappointed with their interactions as well. The artist is not the focal point at Blue Line like it should be. There is not a whole lot of appreciation for the hours days, months that go into the work that is donated to Blue Line. Blue lines bottom line is the focal point. Which is hugely disappointing for an art gallery. But is showing in the small donations and slimmed attendance to classes which are down due to the issues at Blue Line. Further more the lack of attention to diversity in art has also been a huge issue that I've noticed and even attempted to discuss with a coworker. (Unaware of current shows speaking of my knowledge of 2019-2023 shows) Lots of 50+ white men and women being chosen for residency and shows. Zero awareness when it comes to culturally appropriated art. If it's not their culture you shouldn't be hosting a showcase for that artist. read more

What a beautiful gallery! Crocker-Kingsley Exhibit. Artists from around Calif Large formate pieces and wonderfully hung. Hanging art is an art in itself. It takes a lot for artist to bring pieces to all shows. Homes and offices need interesting original art. Enjoy! read more

I made a fabulous discovery while driving down Vernon Street in old Roseville and that is Blue Line Arts. This wonderful gallery space is used by a nonprofit to showcase the work of local artists and musicians. I found out that they began 45 years ago and I thought, 'I really regret not being aware of them before now.' This is a place I will want to return to again and again as they change what is being offered and have new showings and events. So disillusioned. I am an artist that discovered Blue Line Arts through California Arts Council while investigating show calls. I submitted, was accepted into the show and went to the opening reception. I was an outsider of that venue at that time. Tony Natsoulas, actively attending to artist made his way to me. He asked which of the pieces was mine and continued a relative and inspiring conversation. I was so moved by Tony's insight. I have been in many exhibitions and was represented by a gallery on the east coast. After a couple more show calls and acceptance into Blue Line exhibitions, my conversations with Tony Natsoulas compelled me to become a member and an advocate of Blue Line Arts. Today I've learned Tony Natsoulas is removed for Blue Line staff, this is the worst decision of a clueless board. read more

This is a nice addition to old downtown Roseville. The art pieces rotate by Artist, so there is always something new to see. Prices for are really reasonable, so you won't feel guilty buying something! There is also a sweet gift shop where you can buy something for yourself or a gift for a friend. Easy parking! read more

We went to Blue Line Arts recently for a holiday gift & craft show. There were some fantastic vendors, lots of really unique offerings for sale, and a snack bar with cheap nibbles in the back of the venue. I loved the art works for sale at the front near the windows, especially the ceramic dinosaurs that looked like inflated balloons- so cool! My friend and I ended up spending way too much money (not entirely on holiday gifts for others, as intended ;D) and had a blast. I'd definitely come back to another event here. read more

This weekend, I attended a complimentary ceramic mask making class for women Veterans. I hadn't previously heard of this gallery and I'm so glad I found it! The staff is so great. They are knowledgeable, accommodating, and kind. The class itself was so much fun. I'm definitely going to look into more of their offerings. I'm told the art they display changes fairly frequently and is available for sale. This has been a highlight of my month! read more

Awesome gallery, small, intimate. Local displays + outside the area displays. Great for kids. My daughter has taken art and cartooning classes here and loved them. A wonderful use of space for local nonprofits. My family and I visit about 10 -12 times per year and there are never repeats, so it's like visiting a brand new place every time. This is truly a gem. I recommend for all ages, smaller children accompanied closely by adults can learn to appreciate art from the colors and displays. Good gift store, too. read more

Attended the opening reception on Sat for the "BRA 5" exhibit/ fundraiser for two local non-profit agencies helping women with breast cancer resources, education and healing. This gallery space is open, bright, and oh so committed to art and service to the community. Besides the current BRA exhibit which runs through Oct. 11, a children's program - children draw what "happy" means to them - links up with a program which does the same with individuals with dementia. In the gallery area closest to the street, an extensive exhibit responding to current random violence against children, and concepts of war and peace is utterly timely and sure to draw out mental and emotional responses, generating important conversation in the community. This is a beautiful space, Coming up from the Bay Area and never having visited before, I had no idea what to expect. I am sure glad I came! I rated the prices for the art "moderate" because compared to what I see down in the bay area, they are! Hope to participate as an artist in another show at this gallery. read more
