We chose the Blue Monkey as we had not eaten here before. It is a Monday night, there are no empty tables and the place is alive with chatter. The Blue Monkey is a light filled, vibrant restaurant filled with the sound of sizzling oil and backed with the percussion of the busy chefs frantically working their cooking utensils and woks. To start we ordered larb duck, an entree from a section of the menu described a monkey's favourites. A Thai version of san choy bau made from shredded roast duck with red onion, mint and a chilli-lime dressing served on a cos lettuce leaf. This entree has all of the classic Thai flavours sweet, sour, salty combined with the heat of chilli. This really got the taste buds firing. For something more substantial we ordered the lime and peppercorn stirfry with prawns. The picture in the menu of a massman lamb shank with roti had a lot to do with second selection. I am a big fan of a hearty lamb shank curry and love a light crispy roti. The stirfry had a good flavour combination. However the massman lamb shank with crisp roti stole the show. Up there with the best massman curry I have eaten, if not the best. As a whole, worth a visit. The service was a little slow, but I will be drawn back by the delicious massman lamb shank. read more
