We had a…read morefair amount of river rock we wanted removed from the side of our yard, and given the fantastic job he did before we wanted to go with Dave again. Nearly five month lead time and a crew was sent out to dig it - by hand - in nearly 100 degree heat in the middle of August. They did the best they could given the temperature and lack of oversight, but in the end the job was left 90% completed. Gatorades and freezer pops couldn't have saved them. Dave came to the door seemingly in a hurry, asked for the check and left, not checking up on the work his crew did (who also left without saying anything to us). I've already hand-dug and hauled four dump-carts full of rock with, I'm estimating, maybe four more to go. I'm happy I didn't have to do the whole thing so am grateful for that, but the stark contrast between the first job and the second had our necks feeling like we got whiplash. What happened? It's great that Glacier View has blown up, meaning more work for his crew, and it's likely that we're such small potatoes now it's barely worth scheduling us, but it sucks to be treated as an afterthought. Maybe they aren't great for repeat business. {edit}: Dave reached out offering to finish the job, and while I'm admittedly still a bit sour over the extra work I do respect how he tried to make it right. More importantly I'm satisfied with the acknowledgment of the lack of communication and a reassurance of improvement moving forward: small job or large. So, I'm increasing the rating to what it should be.

He claimed he would send people back out week after week to fix issues (and collect MORE money) but never did. They were slated to do both my patio and build a pergola, but after the patio was done I had no interest in in letting them build the pergola. And good thing - the eventual replacement I found did fantastic work, at HALF the price of Sam's estimate!! Here are some of the issues; 1. I have a sprinkler head that feeds a drip system. I told him day 1 it was very important NOT to cover it. He said ok, and so crew moved the head over a couple feet... THEN COVERED IT ANYWAY!! Now if there's ever a problem with that head, I'll have to tear up the patio to get to it. His response? "It'll be fine." Seriously!! 2. It's a square space, but the paver stones were laid at a 5-10 degree angle?? Then the edges were cut perfectly straight at the ends, leaving an ugly unnatural finish in a very obvious place. 3. They rebuilt our bad step, but it was already cracked the day he finished. It's not even by the door to be stepped on, why is it broken already? 4. Polysand (the cement-like hardening sand they use to keep it together) was left splattered all over my house and screen doors and windows. I had to scrub the house clean, but the screens are shot. 5. The patio slopes in three or four different directions, but I'll allow the weird Broomfield soil and my original slab take some of the blame for that. After weeks of waiting for any contractor to get back to me in this overwhelmed market, I was thrilled to finally have someone to work with. But I would not recommend their services to a friend after this.

We found J&P on Yelp, and they were able to start w/in a fairly quick time frame. The crew was on time, every time. We didn't have the funds to nail down our whole project in one season, but put a good dent into the final project this year. These guys laid pavers for a pretty good sized patio for us, and we've gotten numerous compliments on how great it looks. They spent a tremendous amount of time measuring, leveling & cutting all the pavers to get them perfectly in place. The project took longer than I anticipated - but only because they spent so much time working on getting everything laid out and level. Our final project calls for a pretty good sized outdoor fireplace. In addition to the pavers, they planted some trees and threw in a couple trees for us, and they did the rough ins for the gas line once we actually get to the fireplace. From start to finish Jody and her team were wonderful to work with--they were highly knowledgeable, professional, communicative, and responsive, and took the time to make sure everything was designed and completed to a high standard. This project is something we'd been wanting to do for years, and it came out better than we could have imagined! We had a lot of different goals for what's a fairly small front yard with quite a bit of shade: we wanted an attractive design that would reduce water use and maintenance needs, support pollinators throughout the full growing season, create a firebreak near the house, have a nice space for our kids to enjoy, and add some edible plants/berries/herbs if possible.
