Pepperoni fell into our laps after a friend started fostering her to get her out of a kill shelter in South Carolina. We were in love with our snuggly girl from the start, but she was also timid, skittish, poorly behaved on the leash, and terrified of strangers (especially men). We tried to take her to a doggie daycare for socialization, but she was so terrified, she escaped within a half hour and was not allowed back. Over the course of six months, David helped us build Pepper's confidence and bring her out of her shell. She now sits with us at dog-friendly restaurants, greets every guest at the door, and just spent her first day at doggie daycare (no escaping! No hiding!) We cannot thank David enough for all he has done and his patience in going the extra mile for a more difficult case. We're so grateful to have a happy, healthy dog!

Gail came to our house and evaluated him and gave us some homework. That was over a week ago and not ONE SINGLE ACCIDENT since then. We have also made so much progress with the food aggression that I can almost stick my hand completely in his bowl while he is eating. Gail is a miracle worker with dogs and has an amazing intuition with them. Watching her in action is inspiring! What a truly great place this is, I don't know if I would have made it on my own with my very high…read morestrung and anxious puppy and after asking around in several pet stores I finally found Gail Hubbard and her place. Good for me because Dog Training is crazy expensive I noticed ( so expensive that I m going to become a dog trainer in my next life!!!) This place is different Gail tries to make dog training affordable and fun. First I went to puppy class, every Saturday for $10 a mixed puppy class with socialization training and simple tasks for owners and dogs alike. This is a hands on place , the dog is not getting "fixed" you learn how to work with the animal and what to do in any situation. After that I went to "manners 1" a six week course where you meet once weekly and work with your animal . The classes are small the place is big with a large agility area , a playground and a piece of forest to walk in. There are all kind of fun things offered Agility Training, Treibball and ongoing Manners classes up to training for service dogs. Gail is full of knowledge gives you direct feedback if you call her and a certificate after a successfully finished "Manners" class. The approach is gentle with lots of treats, no yelling no "NO" it's about leading the dog in the right direction, about being smart with the opportunists they are and build a beautiful and trusting relationship. We are happy here and will stay and come back many more times!

Old dogs really can learn new tricks…read more We have a rescue dachshund (Lulu) who is about 14 years old. She was from a puppy mill and suffered physical abuse which caused her to be fearful, but in aggressive ways. Our son reminded her of the abuser and she would always bark and even charge him every time he came to the house. She also didn't meet other dogs well on our walks. This went on for four years until Trish came along and gave us some pointers. Lulu is very treat oriented and using the clicker and treats she was able to learn to sit, lie down, find it, stay, watch and touch. The most profound change was with my son. We taught her to touch his hand with her nose on cue, and used treats to desensitize her to his movements. She finally has calmed down when he is here. She has also gotten more comfortable when other people come to the house. We haven't had much time on the leash training, but with the success with my son I believe that will come also. Trish is very easy to work with, and her methods and knowledge brought success to our household.

Unlike many shelter consultants, who are sometimes a little soft after time spent on "desk duty", Trish can still handle animals like a seasoned kennel attendant. Her decades of experience and kind demeanor make her an incredible educator. Even though I live thousands of miles away in New York City, I still think that Trish is the best in the business! We came to Zoe after working with two other trainers and feeling very defeated. During our very first session Zoe had Bailee laying down comfortably on a leash next to another dog! It wasn't long before Bailee was able to play off leash with other dogs in Zoe's pack. After over a year of her having no dog to dog contact, this nearly brought me to tears. We have learned so much from Zoe about general dog behavior, but most importantly we've learned much more about Bailee and how we can adjust our behaviors to best meet her needs. Zoe is as good at training humans as she is at training dogs! Training can be a very long process, and it has its ups and downs. Zoe is there through it all with kindness, empathy, and support. She is so knowledgeable, very communicative, and you always feel like you are her most important client. Although we still have work to do, Bailee is now enjoying "adventures" with Zoe's dog pack & we know she is in the very best hands. I always look forward to training days with Zoe, we are so lucky to have her in our lives!

I specifically noted that my Dog was NOT to have joint playtime. When I went to go visit her on Christmas day I found her outside early in the morning w chilly temperatures without her sweater which I left (She only weighs 9 pounds) with not one but two other dogs, one male who was on top of her - As I approach the office door This employee by the name of Desiree, - who hopefully will not be an employee much longer to keep the good name of this establishment - came out with an angry look saying "we are closed - You can't be here!!" This after I was told by the owner Jeremiah upon check-in two days prior that the hours would be 8-11 and 3-5 on Christmas Day to stop in and check on my Dog. My dog is only two years old and it's the first time that she is away. The only reason I boarded her is that we were staying at the nearby Biltmore which does not allow Dogs and they did mention this establishment along with two others. I chose this location. Primarily Because of Amy/Katy/Jeremiah However, with it being the holiday season looks like the most non tenure employees were left to tend the shop The place as a whole is a good location. Thinking I just made a mistake I paid up again, keeping tabs on exactly when I brought my pup in. I was asked for MORE money before my time was up AGAIN. After attempting to discuss this with the owner, she basically called me a liar. What do you call the business owner who is a "Karen"???! I calmly paid again but eventually took my girl out and went with another care facility, with this facility owing me time. Since then, I have had another pup mom come to me with the same complaint. I know COVID has been hard on small businesses but cheating the customer is NOT the way to run a business. If you go on a plan and pay in advance, be prepared to be cheated.

We were fortunate enough to find Todd and Aaheville Dog Co to board our small dog for 10 days…read more Little did we know hurricane Helene would come around while we were gone. Our dog was very well cared for and Todd sent us texts and pictures. When we went to pick him up we got lost because of GPS down and Todd instantly went out of his way to bring our pup and his supplies to us. It's a good feeling to know that when you have to board a loved one they are in good hands with no need to worry, thank you Todd!

I saw him at Publix a few weeks later and he still had the Asheville Dog Company sticker on his car. However, our challenges became increasingly difficult as a result of forced evacuations, relocations and having to continue working from satellite locations. Or sweet pup had only one month with us before she too became displaced and had to adapt to a very transient live style. As one might imagine, the training of our pup was erratic and remains so, I am afraid, but with the help of James and Iilo, we are currently pretty stable. James has an intuit sense of canine behavior and a keen sensitivity regarding how to balance gentle behavior guidance in alignment with modification techniques. James impressed us with his professionalism & compassion, plus his extensive knowledge and skill. The man knows his business, speaks his mind with respect, and has proven to be invaluable to us as we continue working toward our goal of a Good Citizenship Certification. I have worked with many, many trainers and training schools over my 60 years of being a dog owner. I do recommend James, without hesitation. Oh, and by the way...
