Yes, there are multiple shelters and there was a small playground, but the condition of the wood on the baseball dugouts and a mini shelter by the playgrounds were worn and needed some attention. The park is flat with a gravel driveway that leads back on the north end with no clearly designated parking area (If it is like my hometown, folks probably pull off onto the grass.) That's okay as long as it doesn't rain. All the playground surfaces were stone based which aren't the most kid friendly surfaces available either. I think that the park could just use some TLC and a bit of cash to improve the condition of some of the pieces I've mentioned. This is the only community park in Morristown, and it's actually a little bit north of town over the hump where the railroad tracks are, and you will see it on your left side, and cornfields to the right, ha. There is a children's play ground area, a soccer field, softball field, golf driving range, public restrooms, and power hookups at various locations. There are lots of open flat grass areas for all types of other fun activities. There are 3 shelters that include; charcoal grill, picnic tables, lights and power. There is an Amphitheater / stage that is great for live bands, as there is plenty of grass seating in front of the stage area that will accommodate many people. Park Shelters are available for rent: $50 per day with a $25 refundable damage deposit. $50 per day for use of the Amphitheater Stage area per day with a $25 refundable damage deposit. No charge to County organizations for shelter but a $25 refundable damage deposit is required. Donations from the local Veterans keep the park looking great. The park is open from dawn until dusk daily, and free to use the amenities during those hours. There is also a concession stand that sells snacks during special events such as league softball games. There is plenty of parking off the driveways in the grassy areas. I have been here for large parties with live bands, catered in food, drinks, etc and it was a great time!

A playground is located near the shelter and benches and swings are found elsewhere in the park too. There appears to be some paved trails in the park, but some are incomplete and stop randomly. An unpaved trail has been worn from the lawn area to the nearby river. When the water level is down like during my visit, it is possible to walk along the shore, though there may still be some water standing along the way. There were some narrow footpaths through the undergrowth as well, but I did not follow those. The park seems to be suited for relaxing under the shade trees or for strolling about. It is located in the shadow of Greenwood High School. the park has two decent sized parking lots, one at each entrance. It also has a poorly maintained sand volleyball court. The playground is not much better. It has a couple of swings and a small jungle gym with 3 slides. There is an adequate bathroom facility at the park, but they request that you be prepared and bring your own sanitizing and hand washing supplies. The park has a covered pavilion with picnic tables under it and grills nearby that can be rented for events. There are also picnic tables placed across the park grounds. The park's soccer field is huge and well maintained. It can be used for football, batting practice, playing catch, or just lounging. There is another field that has a chain-linked backdrop that can be used for kickball, t-ball or other similar activities. This seems like a cool park to bring your four legged friend. They provide poop bags, it is not very popular and very quiet. I enjoyed my visit to this park, but do not think that it will be one of my go-to parks. It has a lot of amenities to offer, but I did not see a jogging/walking trail. I see this park as more of one that you visit if you are in the area or live near by.

There is even a permanent restroom open during the summer months. The park is located just west of US 31 at the end of a short road that leads south from Smith Valley Road. There are signs that warn about No Vehicles allowed, but if you slow down, you can see that they say No Vehicles allowed off road, so it is okay to drive back. One of the nice things that coincides with the park is a trail that leads to other parks in Greenwood if you like hiking or biking. You can catch the near the entrance to this park. Tip: Avoid going here during rush hour. Smith Valley gets a lot of traffic and turning left to head west when leaving could take a long while. Review #545

Columbus knows how to do parks. The location of this park in downtown Columbus has historical…read moresignificance. Two rivers, East Fork White and Flatrock Rivers merge creating a flood plain. During the 1800's, water was diverted to create power for milling, called a "Mill Race". A number of mills operated here. There were tanneries, brick makers and woolen manufacturing to name a few. Various mills operated for decades but faced challenges of periodic flooding. The mills closed over time and only a few foundations remain. The site has been transformed into a beautiful park, complete with sculptures, trails, a historic covered bridge and more. We visited the park yesterday and spent several hours exploring the site. A notable observation Tower is prominent near the river. I climbed the 130 steps to the top to see panoramic views of the river and town of Columbus. Graffiti vandals have left "art" on the tower. There is an elevator, but it was non operational during my visit. Maybe it as just me, but it was a little creepy at the top. A modern colorful playground is located on the north side of the park. Climbing structures, slides, interactive toys and a wide variety of swings fill the area. The equipment is clean and pristine. Benches and picnic tables surround the playground for parents. I saw several pavilions around the park for picnics or meetings. The grounds of the park are tree covered and beautiful. There is a project underway to restore native plants. The New Brownsville Covered Bridge crosses a small duck pond and is a lovely backdrop for photos. The tress bridge is opened to auto traffic. I saw several sculptures including an artistic vine covered tunnel. The sculptures did look like they have endured annual flooding. Fisherman were fishing in small boats in the river. There is a small boat launch in the park. An amphitheater structure is also on the grounds. The setting is an ideal spot for summer concerts. A single basketball court is located on the west side of the park. I did see a set of modern restrooms in the park. Pathways are concrete making travel easy for strollers and wheelchairs. Parking is available at various locations throughout the park. There is no charge to visit the park. Warning: the mosquito population was pretty treacherous during my visit. I would recommend long sleeves, pants and spray. They will carry you away.

The park is lovely, a big green space with some sporting features including tennis courts, picnic shelters, playgrounds, horseshoe pits and basketball courts. You should also check out the amphitheater. The park is located in an oxbow bend in the Flatrock River, so it's surrounded by peaceful slow-flowing water (which did flood quite high a few years ago). I checked pool passes out from the library, because admission is kind of steep & I had out of town guests. $18 for a non-resident child (same price as an adult) seems pretty high to me. Staff were confused by the pool passes. They finally figured out how they worked and we got in. I didn't find the staff to be particularly friendly. Many of the lifeguards were rude to people and just an overall unfriendly tone. The waterpark and pool area itself is quite nice! Loved the water slides and lazy river. I will return to use those again.

Today when we visited, the fields were under water from recent rains. The playground offers a lot of slides and swings. The equipment was clean but rusting in spots and in need of a face lift. The boat launch is a little treacherous during high water. You really need to watch children as there is no safety protection around the boat launch and the water run quickly. I was pleased to see a police patrol in the park during one of my visits.

A playground is centrally located between the shelters and is fenced. It has several slides, swings, and some climbing equipment.
