Save time and frustration and don't bother with this company. I have a small pool surrounded by a zero scape yard and no trees. I initially called them to turn my pool from green to blue and regular maintenance, it took them over 3 weeks to turn my pool green to blue. They can't give you a straight answer on the billing which changes without any notice and it's not anything resembling what they list on n their website. My bill was never the same my last bill was $169 and I was told I would only pay $99 monthly, my bill was never $99. I had called several times to understand the billing but I got a lot of excuses and vague reasons and assurances. I did get a $7 discount. I swear every time I called about the bill it would go up. they don't care about the quality of service you're paying a lot for either the kid that came to my house didn't clean filters, brush the pool, check water level, check chemicals and worse he almost ruined a brand new pump because apparently he didn't have enough common sense to screw on a lid! please don't was your time or money with Blue Science Pool service. read more

Deceitful. Dishonest. We went with this company b/c the previous owners had used them. They gave us the sales pitch of how many checks and balances they go through to ensure that their technicians are honest. Still doesn't matter. We set up a filter cleaning for $149. TBH, it needed it. When the technician was done, he reinstalled the filters, but didn't turn the pump back on, b/c it wouldn't prime. We were told it wouldn't prime because the O-ring band couldn't seal correctly. Not knowing anything about pools, I believed him. A friend came out a few days later (after the pool had started to bloom) and we got it up and running. So I didn't really need a $750 band clamp job. I spoke with the owner and he agreed to fix it, on them, with no real fuss. I thought, okay, they owned the mistake, they are trying to fix it. A different person came out to drain and clean the pool. Job was done, as promised and to a satisfactory level. I refilled the pool. The original technician came out out and put chemicals in the pool, but couldn't get the pump to prime...again. After some work, I got it going. The next day I noticed the pump wasn't working...again. So I tried to prime and nothing worked. I called another company out and watched as they worked. When the motor was removed, we both observed that the screws that were supposed to hold the siphon house on were missing. Not corroded, not snapped off or any where to be found...missing. For the previous 30 days before calling Blue Science, the pump never failed to come on. After their 'service' it was almost impossible to get it working correctly. While I did not witness anyone trying to sabotage our pump, I can only assume that the screws were taken out to sabotage the pump, since there were absolutely no artifacts to show any of the three screws ever being there. Do the research and don't ignore the reviews. Not only will the services be spotty, your pool/equipment may get damaged. read more

Scam company, be aware of fake report card that they send you. Be ready to spend thousands on fake repairs and services. They sent me fake pictures saying we cleaned your pool but pictures are from old days. I cant really believe they did that to me. I was sitting in my backyard and enjoying the good weather and I received an email and text message that says "Blue Science cleaned your pool, see the pictures" and I was shocked!!! I checked the camera assuming maybe they came earlier, but NO, the images are from when pool looked great. So I checked my security cameras and realized they have not shown up for two weeks and I've been getting fake pictures and report cards. Since November they failed to repair my pool. All new equipment installed by them. I purchased almost every single component brand new and every other month I have paid for repair service which they just charge you, but no one really give a damn if pool is fixed or not. I have yet to see a technician who knows anything about the pool. I have never had a successful service from them, and I cant comprehend how messed up a company could be. Why so many times, so many things fails in your company? I have had multiple repair tickets in pandemics year ! I still cant believe that I have paid this much just for repair. They let your pool go totally green and they say OK now we need to clean your filter, do major cleaning and here is your $500 ticket! At first was amazing to work with this company. In the last several months service has drastically gone down. Techs smoke on property, are excessively loud and fail to do the services contracted. Unscrupulous billing practices observed, falsifying documentation on services not rendered, follow through on problems noticed on equipment. Canceled my service today. I'd been with Blue Science Pools (Dallas) for two and a half years. Right after the horrible winter storm they raised their service fee from $99 to $150. When I called to follow up about getting someone to give me a quote, I was told I was on the list to be called but if I approved the $150 fee right away then I would be scheduled whenever they had time. Waited three more days, no phone call. Called around to two other local companies and they had guys out this week to give me a bid. I called to cancel my service with Blue Science and was told they didn't want to lose my business over a bid but also wouldn't tell me when they could get me a quote and that it would still cost $150. This was just the last straw in a long line of issues anytime I had to deal with someone other than the guy who did our weekly cleanings, that guy was great. read more

Even today a year and half later we are replacing the grass they put down because it wasn't done correctly and is just mud in our yard. From start to finish the job was half done. My pool is always dirty even after they service it. They were supposed to come on Friday and I saw them there and it needed swept badly but they didn't sweep it because it was raining. I called and they told me if it rains they don't sweep it and won't come back again until next week. Well it rains a lot in Houston. I guess if its raining next week it won't get swept again? Techs are nice, but have no empowerment and the Area Managers are not responsive, respectful, or responsible for the decisions that they make in their territory. The company does not do much to help. I like the reports they send but not useful when they making stuff up or just not coming. They sell you on no contract and extras but every month they charging something different. And when you need the proper chemicals is the only time the Manager comes around. Instead of letting the techs have them and treat as necessary they carry them and must comr apply. Usually not in same day. Process that should take 24hrs takes 48-72. read more

Horrible experience with these guys! They replaced my pool pump and booster pump and have had nothing but problems with the install. They installed the main pump with a programmable one but they have no idea how to program it. After two attempts on different days I found a YouTube vid showing how to do it correctly. The wiring was done incorrectly and they even removed the ground wire!! Who does that. The booster pump is not anchored so it vibrates around causing the fittings to loosen up weekly resulting in water leaks. They keep telling me "they will get to it asap" but weeks later nothing! I would not recommend Blue Science pools in the Tampa Bay area to anyone. I have had Blue Science pools service for about a year. Their policy of only cleaning the filter once a month does not work. My filter needed cleaning for the last four weeks since it rained 6" right after I put right after I added 4" of iron rich water from my well. The filter was not cleaned at that point. Because of their lack of timely filter cleaning it has been recommended that i replace the filter. This has been the worst experience. We had our pool drained and chlorine washed. We were told the process would remove the stains and the pool would look new again. After the tech finished we were told he was unable to remove the stains completely. The pool doesn't even look like any stains were removed. After the pool filled up with fresh water we cleaned the filters and started the water circulating because the tech did not check to make sure the pump was working properly to drain the old water and he did not finish in the timeline we were given. We needed them out on a Sunday to put the chemicals back but they do not work on Sunday. We had to put the chemicals ours. When they returned on Monday, the day after we had cleaned the filters, they charged us 129.00 plus tax to clean the filters. I tried to explain to them that the filters were already cleaned but they did not care. They just wanted the money. They returned 2 days later to clean the pool and get the chemicals right. How much could the chem have changed in 2 days? How dirty could the pool have gotten in 2 days? That was another charge. We cannot count on them to be here on the same day of the week and we have yet to have the same person return. They have not been here this week and the service has already been paid for. When we call to have a discussion about the issues we are only given excuses. We would never recommend this company to anyone. I've had them coming out since October of 2019, to do the partial cleaning. Partial... more like just coming to write on a sheet of paper, take a few pictures and sit in their truck for a while, then leave. Only one young black guy actually looked like he actually did work. The other individual Emily has come out the last few times and I've kept wondering why the pool hasn't been looking clear, so i check to see if there are any bleach tablets and to my surprise, ABSOLUTELY FREAKING NOTHING. NOWHERE!!!! I'm so livid! This isn't the first time I've had an issue with them. They have charged my card without my consent before got different things my Pool needs but this is it! I've left them a voicemail, just waiting for them to call me back on Monday with some BS story. This time i will be canceling my service with them. Came out to check a broken heat pump and told me it was fine. I never called them to check heater which was fine. Called them to tell them they checked the wrong piece of equipment and the came back out and told me the heat pump was broken and never sent me anyway of fixing it and a month later I got a $249.00 charge on my credit card . This was to come out and tell me it was broken, which I already told them that before they came out. Talked to Nash multiple times without any follow up repairman . I believe this is their modus operandi. Tell you its broken, charge $249.00 and never fix anything. BEWARE! You have to give them your card number before they show up, unfortunately. read more

The quality of their service can be seen in the attached photos. I'm scheduled for Mondays. It's Thursday and this is now what my pool looks like. No communication from the company about them being behind or anything. After calling, I was told they will have it done by Saturday. So no using my pool until then (algae can feed bacteria than can cause a multitude of issues and is a slipping hazard) and for 4-6 hours after they treat it on a Saturday, during peak pool season. Communication has been horrible with them throughout. Damaged my deck and they told me they would send someone out to inspect the damage. No one every showed, called, emailed, anything. Wow, where to begin. I was a customer of blue science for two years. During that time, I have encountered more scenarios than I can count of their pool techs cutting corners and not doing an adequate job for the services you are paying for. Majority of the pool techs are young guys out of high school or college who clearly could not care less about the level of service performed on the pool. I can recall 20 or so times where I witnessed the pool tech come out, empty the skimmers and leave, but reported that he did a full service clean on my pool, including brushing my walls and vacuuming the bottom. There was even two times they didn't even come due to weather but charged me a full service clean without rescheduling another clean for the times they missed. The first few times I would let it slide, but then my frustration grew with each instance this would occur. When I called the pool manager about this, he insinuated that I was mistaken. It was only when I threatened to release pool my video footage from my outside pool camera of the negligence that was occurring that he "remedied" it by having the pool guy come back out to do the full clean. Blue science also outsources their customer service (or just has terrible customer service) who are very disorganized and will straight up ignore emails and not return phone calls. I switched to a partial clean for a few months during the winter (which is a cheaper rate) and they overcharged me. They have ignored all correspondence, both emails and phone calls, to remedy the overage. I likely will have to take them to small claims court in order to get a response and my money. Wish it didn't have to come to that, but the level of unprofessionalism is out of this world. I could go on, as this review just scratches the surface, but my advice is to use any other pool company and avoid them at all costs. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!! What a scam. Got pool resurfaced to fix crack, crack came back 3 months later! Talked to them, they said, earth moved not their fault. It moved that much in 3 months?! They refused to help in ANYWAY after we paid over $20k!! What a joke! Had cleaning full service. Said will vacuum each time, nope! Charged more for chemicals they said. They only use acid. I can get that at Leslie's for quarter of price. Came to clean filters. What a joke! Told kid we have power washer to use, he refused. Did horrible job, kid said he has more work and can't do ours better. He did so bad I had to do myself few months later. Then they tried to come and do the filters as scheduled right after I did them! Did not need to be done since I did them. Did not tell me they were coming to do them. Had a great tech over 8 months then they changed him with a new guy (literal new hire). Tech made it a point to tell me he is sad he being moved off my route do to the easiness of my pool. Pool was not fully cleaned or chemical balanced for 4 weeks. Request a new tech and his solution was to add 3 times the chlorine needed. You could smell it from inside for days. Walls would not get brushed, my vacuum bot would get knocked around, chunks of stuff left at the bottom, and spa was never cleaned. Fired Blue Science after 2 weeks of that. Manager always tried to make things right, phone staff was always nice but if your techs suck there is no saving that. read more

I will start with the only positive pet of my experience. Jordan, my weekly tech, was awesome. I should have known this was not going to end well when I had to have them come back to re-clean in the first visit (had to contact twice). Then I was overcharged on my monthly agreement. Got that all situated then the fun kept coming. A handle was broken during a filter cleaning, which was somehow completed in 27 min. Once again, I had to contact them twice to get that resolved. Then I started to notice an additional $16.25 charge each month. I reached out to find out they added a chemical surcharge. I was informed that the owner sent out a memo in October. I asked for a copy of the letter, but never received it. I emailed to cancel service. They reached out to waive the chemical surcharge to retain my business. I declined, but allowed them to maintain service through the end of the month, since I had already paid for it. Well, they elected to quit showing up. Run like hell people. read more

So I called to have a return line repaired. I found the leak. I dug up where the leak is and can visually see the cracked pipe. The company requires a 249 dollar service fee to come out to diagnose your problem and requires credit card information in advance. Apparently their company policy requires that the customer have zero common sense. Imagine having a flat tire and calling a wrecker service who tells you it will cost 249 dollars for them to come out and verify that you have a flat tire and then give you an estimate AFTER they've charged you to tell you what you already know. But the leave the hose laid all about (it was not that way when they foooooound it - I had it all nicely wrapped) and now something is leaking with my spider gasket - something they did of course..... We really tried to work with Blue Science. The service reps were unreliable and we rarely had the same tech. At most they'd spend about 10 minutes servicing the pool. Didn't always clean out skimmers or even do a semi-adequate job scrubbing down pool. Finally we had to cancel even after bringing issues to their attention many times and patiently hoping service would improve. Gave our notice with 2 services remaining. I don't think they did anything during those last two services. Pool looks worse than when we started with them. Unfortunately, can't recommend. read more

Overpriced and deceiving. They are not upfront with their true cost. This company charges an invoice/admin fee, a chemical surcharge fee and an additional fee for months that have 5 weeks. You pay between $260 to $320 a month for a standard size pool. However they will bill it broken up at separate times. Also do not accept any repair work by them, they will severally overcharge you on any repairs. Do the repair yourself or find a more honest person to do the work. They will also not purge the air out of your pump/filter, will not clean your pump basket and at times will not clean your pool baskets, and when you contact them and send them photos or videos of the work not being done. They will respond with, we'll try harder next time and still bill you the full amount even though they did not complete the work. We have had video of them walking up to the pool standing their own their phone talking for about 10minutes, take a picture and leave. Then report it as cleaned. Their responds was it was cold out, we are backed up and we'll try harder next time. I have this response in writing from them after submitting the photos/video. It's SAD. Yet will still bill you as completed work. Shop around and find a better company or at least one that is more upfront and honest. Also their surcharge on top of their regular charge for their chemicals was to be temporary due to shortage from Covid is still being charged. Its 2024 now and still using Covid as an excuse. This company is great at marketing, lousy at pool maintenance. They don't communicate promptly to feedback, needing to attempt multiple times to get any response. Well, after 5 years, I've had to leave Blue Science. Although the owner is a nice man, the service and reliability and communication of his Austin crew is horrible. Thomas (local field manager) failed to show up (or contact me) 3 times in 10 days for service work. My pool got algae on both the stone ledge and the bench seat and tanning bed. My Polaris did nothing but lay on its side for weeks. And all the time, I was told there is nothing wrong with it. Though my standard cleaning day was supposed to be Tuesday, the pool tech (always a different person) showed up on random days. I would highly recommend NOT using this company. read more

I've waited six months or so to post this. I had been using Blue Science for five years or so......developed a small leak at the waterfall feature. They came out...identified the leak...and quoted $ 850 to re-grout...which I agreed to. A week later one guy with a bucket of grout shows up...spends three hours..and he's done. When I called to say that $ 850 for a guy with a bucket of grout for three hours seemed steep I was told..."You agreed to it...that's the price". I cancelled my service. They sent a pool cleaning person Brian, who cleaned the pool and said there are lots of things wrong/broken in the filter. I asked him to show me, and he disappeared. Later when I called the pool company, they said he had some personal emergency. Anyway, the manager said he will send someone for a free quote on what's wrong with the pool filleted. And now when I see my credit card, I see a transaction of $328 charged to me. Amazing, I did not authorize any of this. Am going to again talk to the, tomorrow to get my money back. After a year of service and multiple resets due to Blue Science techs inability to maintain our chemical balance, I dropped them. Final straw was the required to totally drain and refill my pool at my cost because their techs had so grossly missed the mark. Rude managers and unresponsive owner Gabe Ullman lead me to believe no One is watching the business. Bill Sadler, extremely unprofessional customer service manager made me sign a waiver of responsibility before they agreed to attempt to balance and correct their own inept mistakes. I had the beginnings of algae blooms that could hardly be seen or detected. I hired them to take care of the pool. It is 6 weeks later. Algae everywhere. They've lied on several occasions. Gave them one final chance today and now I have algae everywhere, chemical debris on the floor of my pool and now it's cloudy and the lounge ledger stools and Polaris can't even be seen. Wish I'd read reviews first, including BBB complaints before signing this company up to clean my pool. The pool was totally green in the beginning, and they did a super job of bringing it back to normal and keeping it clean. Two reasons I canceled service: 1) being charged for a full months cleaning, when he couldn't come out to perform service during the big freeze in February. Emailed and called for a refund and was promised they'd look into it, and was not properly refunded the correct amount and my emails /calls thereafter ignored. 2) being charged extra for the chlorine tablets (because of a shortage), only to find out the tech was using MY stock of tablets instead. I too am surprised to see any negative reviews of Blue Science. I am extremely pleased with Blue Science. Excellent customer service and quality of service exceeds my expectations. My pool is clean and well-maintained. I have tried many pool cleaning companies and none come close to Blue Science in terms of quality of service and reasonable pricing. Alex services my pool weekly and it looks great. Alex comes weekly, services my pool, informs me of any problems or repairs, and notifies me when he arrives and is entering my backyard. I have also dealt with Douglas on occasion and his responsiveness and knowledge is excellent. read more
