The power went out on 072926. This disrupted service to many patients in the midst of having cancer surgery; the surgery had to be rescheduled even though the first round slice was executed. A quick google search reveals a backup generator for the capacity your office needs is approximately $1,200.00. This is such a small expense that would greatly enhance the SAFETY and quality of service for your patients. Your prompt attention to this matter is needed. Your staff is excellent and the rating does not pertain to them. read more

PRO: Everyone at Blue Valley Dermatology (BVD) spoke to me in a polite manner. The front desk staff are friendly & efficient in processing payments. My wait time for appointments was reasonable. The waiting & exam rooms are pleasant & professional in appearance. Dr. Oliver was competent in treating me for 2 minor yet persistent conditions that'd been problems for years, but are now gone. She was also competent in identifying the marks on my skin during whole body skin exams. CON: SUMMARY BVD reassigned my appointment to a nurse practitioner after my doctor left the practice, without my consent or effectively notifying me. My primary complaint is that a scribe was present for & observed my invasive exam without my consent or foreknowledge, which I am extremely upset about. I was not given a choice to opt out. DETAILS A few days before my appointment for an invasive annual whole body skin exam, I called to ask Dr. Oliver a question. I was informed that she left the practice & my appointment with her had been reassigned to Bridgett Stillwell NP. I was upset that BVD assigned me to a provider for an invasive exam without my permission & didn't ensure that I'd been informed that Oliver had left. BVD told me that they'd texted me about Oliver leaving the practice. The number they texted was a landline. Obviously I didn't get the text. IMO, when BVD didn't get a response from that text, someone should've called, emailed or snail mailed me to ensure that I'd received this critical information about Oliver & my upcoming invasion exam, & not assume that I was ok with a NP (whose education & experience I knew nothing about) performing it. In my opinion (IMO), BVD handled this situation unprofessionally. My 1st visit to BVD was with Dr. Oliver for an invasive whole body skin exam. Unexpectedly, Dr. Oliver entered the exam room with another woman. I wasn't asked for consent to have this extra person present for this invasive exam, nor did anyone explain the purpose of her observing my exam, or what her credentials were. I was very upset about this extra person's presence but it's hard to object when you're naked under a robe & feel vulnerable, especially in front of the extra person, & worried that complaining might adversely impact your healthcare. As a sexual assault survivor with diagnosed PTSD, invasive exams are difficult for me After 3 years of being upset about this, I finally got up the courage to request that the nurse not be present for the exam. Imagine my surprise when I was informed that this extra person was NOT a nurse but a scribe with no medical degree! I'd never heard of a scribe in this context. My research indicates that scribes take notes to save time for the doctor. I feel violated by these scribes' presence imposed on me during invasive exams without my consent, & initially without foreknowledge. I consider it extremely intrusive, degrading, & violating (especially for the purpose of taking notes) that they observed my invasive exams. I felt forced into this violating experience because it was unexpected & I wasn't given a choice. That emotional trigger doesn't vanish after the exam is over. It's challenging to cope with for some time afterwards. IMO, BVD should have obtained informed consent from me for a scribe to be present BEFORE the exam, & not in the presence of the scribe, & given me the choice to opt out, so that the burden wasn't on me to object. I researched Stillwell, & decided to move forward with her if she'd agree to not using a scribe for my whole body skin exam. The next day, BVD informed me that Stillwell would not honor my request & insisted on the presence of the scribe. I was angry about Stillwell's response. From my perspective, it appeared that she was uncompassionate & didn't care about my objections to a scribe observing my invasive exam, & was prioritizing her convenience over my well-being & dignity. IMO, the mandatory requirement for scribes to be present for all exams, including invasive exams, is NOT respectful to my rights, privacy, & dignity as a patient. From my perspective, I'm the patient & this is my body. Ultimately it should be my choice whether or not a scribe is present during any exam, invasive or not! I'm extremely upset by, what I consider to be, BVD's lack of transparency about using scribes during my exams. I couldn't find any information on their website that notifies patients of their practice of using scribes during exams. I wasn't asked for consent to have a scribe present for any exam, or informed about their function in my exam room or their qualifications until I called to object about it. IMO, Blue Valley Dermatology should've informed me of their scribe policy when I made my 1st appointment since they offer no choice to opt out once you arrived for the exam. That way I could've made an informed decision instead of having a scribe unexpectedly imposed on me. read more

It's self care Friday and I due for some much needed skin TLC. This was my first visit to this clinic and here are my thoughts: Location: 8/10 BVD is located near 159th and 69 highway. It's best to take 159th there depending on where you are coming from. 69 is a mess with the construction and will double your travel time. Customer Service: 9/10 From the front desk ladies to medial assistant, everybody was welcoming, attentive, and prompt. The office is aesthetically pleasing with lots of natural light. Kudos to the awesome music playing to keep the mood light. The Doc is In: 9.5/10 I had the pleasure of being seen by Dana Lowry, PA-C. She is awesome! She is personable, knowledgeable, and listened to my concerns. She made sure my questions were answered and her assistant made sure I was well taken care of for script renewals and follow ups. My visit was thirty minutes and I waited no time to have the doctor come in to see me. I even received samples, which I appreciated. Overall: 9/10 This was an awesome visit. I do recommend this clinic for any dermatology needs. Though this was my first time, they left a good impression. read more

I needed to have a small minor cancerous spot removed from my shoulder, and scheduled with Dr. Whitney Fancher, the Mose Surgeon at BV. From the moment I walked in, I was treated as a welcomed guest. I didn't wait more than 5 minutes (tops) to be taken back by Theresa, Dr. Fancher's assistant. The actual procedure was completed in no time, with both Dr. Fancher and Theresa fully explaining what would happen during each step and why. Wow! This what a great experience (as far as getting something cut out of you!) Theresa did an awesome job with the initial numbing shot(s) - I barely felt a thing, and only for a second at the very beginning. Could be the location of my spot, but she was very empathetic and caring when she was administering the shot. The removal of the spot with Dr. Fancher was a non-event. They both kept me talking so that I was distracted with what was happening right next to my head. With my history, I'm sure I'll be visiting there again and it's great to feel confident that the care I'll receive is top-notch! Thank you both!! read more

I called to schedule a visit because my daughter had blisters on her face. I explained at the time my dad, her grandfather, would bring her because I was at work. When they arrived the rude front desk person said she couldn't be seen because her parent wasn't there. The doctor did finally see her after I called a couple of times. The doctor was unable to diagnose and offered to send fluid samples into a lab to determine what was causing the blisters. Six days later I got a call to inform me that they had not done the samples correctly so there were no results. When the blisters returned I took her to a reputable dermatologist. The one thing they did manage to do correctly was bill me and deposit my check despite my complaint. The office is convenient to our house but that's all it has going for it. read more

I started going to Blue Valley dermatology in May, 2023, after being diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma. I see them every 3 months. in that time, they have removed 2 spots on my face; one by freezing and one by surgery. in July, I showed them a series of 4 brown dots that were new and just below the scar from my stage 3 melanoma.Dr. Lauren Kyle said it was a "rash" and declined to do a biopsy. I also showed it 2 weeks later to my oncologist and told her that my dermatologist said it was a "rash" and nothing else was done. a month later, the "rash' was double in size. I again showed it to my oncologist and this time the oncologist did the biopsy. it turned out to be melanoma That ends my trust with Blue Valley Dermatology. I'll be looking for another dermatologist! read more

Absolutely love Dr. Kyle. I've had terrible acne since I hit high school, and after starting to see Dr. Kyle in my mid-30s, for the first time in my life I feel good about my skin. She listened and got me on a regimen that OMG ACTUALLY worked. Not expensive either, just one topical and one oral med daily and I'm free & clear. I know it's the regimen that does it because if I get lazy and skip a couple days I'll break out. Back on schedule, and it's cleared up again in a few days. She's not only skilled, but kind too. I went to Blue Valley Dermatology last year and everything was great. I saw Taryn and she was fantastic. Towards the end of the year, I could see they were investing a lot of money into their facility, and they took up the suite next door so they could start doing surgeries onsite instead of referring them out. After the first of the year, I showed up for my routine appointment and they notified me of their new financial policy. They wanted me to put a credit card on file and told me that whatever my insurance doesn't cover that they would just charge my credit card. I was appalled and told them I was not willing to do that. They said the only other option was to leave a deposit on file with them otherwise they would not see me anymore. I have never in my life had a doctor's office to require leaving a credit card on file so they can just charge at will. I can't tell you how many times in my life I have had billing disputes because of the wrong billing code was used. What if someone makes a mistake then charges my CC some absurd amount then I must pay it while I dispute the problem. They are clearly money focused now since they have invested so much money into their practice. read more

We had a terrible experience at Blue Valley Derm with Taryne Hensley NP. Our son has been struggling with acne for some time and we finally got to the point we were ready to begin accutane but not without our concerns. I asked for literature about accutane and she told me to search google. When asked questions, Taryne couldn't provide evidence based answers. She became so defensive and unwilling to to give information, our appointments were reduced to her sitting with her arms crossed and just not responding. She didn't even assess our son on his last appointment. I've not encountered such an unprofessional provider. We inquired about alternate dosing, additional interventions.. anything we could do to help and she shamed us on "under medicating" and accused of us not taking her given help. She offered standard dosing given to all patients without regard to weight, developmental stage, medical history and was incompetent on providing an individualized plan. She did not treat my son as a unique individual, never showed any care or compassion and had a complete knowledge deficit when it came to managing accutane. Thankfully, we found a provider with 30 years of experience in pediatric dermatology and finally are in good hands. Do not trust Taryne with your care. read more

I am finally able to write this because it was so troubling to think about. I struggled with if I should write about it because it is a negative review, but I would feel horrible if it happened to someone else. I had a procedure done and the wound wasn't healing so I called the nurse concerned. I was advised to come in to have her take a look. To my surprise, what should have been a follow-up visit ($0), I received a $200 bill for because the doctor coded it as a regular office visit with a copay and everything. I thought it had to be a simple mistake because no treatment was even done. But no, the real shock was at how poorly I was treated by the office administration and practice manager whom I dealt with directly when trying to discuss the charges. It was a horribly negative experience that still hurts. I just hope no one else has to deal with something like this. read more

Dr. Kyle is so, so good. She is super honest about what treatments are available and what she recommends. What I most appreciate about her, however, is just how validating she is. I have been to at least 20 other dermatologists and have never found someone as kind and thorough as she is. I just love this practice!! I cant say enough good things about this dermatologist! The new office is so beautiful!! The amazing staff really make it a great experience. So friendly and sweet is hard to come by these days!.. You can tell everyone likes working there and its very efficiently run office. Dr Kyle is wonderful. She is like walking sunshine..literally she is gorgeous and has an internal light i swear! She is absolutely the best at what she does and you can tell she loves what she does and wants to help you be apart of your long term skin journey. She is an expert that i really trust...Her recommendations and plan for my skin have made a huge difference! I did a hydra facial which was AMAZING by the esthetician-Haley. Such a sweet person.. was so gentle, walked me through everything she was doing and why and really gave me some great tips to incorporate in my daily routine. The search for a dermatologist continues... I had originally made an appointment with another dermatologist. However, since Dr Kyle had availability sooner, I figured I would give her a try instead. I was really desperate for a solution to my skin issues. On my first visit, she seemed a bit unsure of exactly how to treat the problem. She prescribed exactly what I expected. It helped a tiny bit but didn't fix the problem. On my follow up visit, was surprised to find my appointment was not with her but with a nurse that I never spoke to and who knew nothing about what was going on. I disagreed with her recommendations, but she took a picture and showed Dr Kyle (who I never saw that visit) and says she (Dr Kyle) agreed with her recommendation. Sure enough, it didn't help at all and was another incorrect diagnosis. Now I wish I had kept my original appointment. If I had, I might have had a real solution by now. :-( read more

The office is very clean and bright. The front desk ladies are always very nice. Dr. Kyle has been very helpful and patient with helping me deal with a few dermatologic issues, she always makes sure to ask how my day is going/how school is, which is very kind of her. The NP and staff of nurses here are also very nice and have always shown me respect and also been supportive whenever I come in for an appointment. Awesome place! read more

If your insurance plan offers a preventative skin cancer screening as a 100% covered benefit beware depending upon the procedure code and diagnosis code used by the office you may incur a charge of over $100. Despite four conversations with my insurance company and two with this office they have refused to bill in a manner consistent with the intended benefit. I would have a charge agreement in writing prior to stepping in an exam room. read more
