Definitely, worth trying. If you like seafood, the history of this restaurant is amazing love the service our waiter was very attentive. The oysters did have a some crunch in them, so be careful when you're eating them. I grew up on the coast so being a seafood snob I can say that I've had better but definitely worth a shot if you've never been. My mother and I came into town and ran upon Bluewater Grill. The restaurant is adjacent to a gas station and the one thing I'll say is this -- don't judge a book by it's cover!! We started off with a bowl of the She Crab Soup and a dozen raw oysters. The soup was superb and creamy. There are days when I prefer it to be brothier however I was in the mood for something rich and this hit the spot. The oysters were shucked and prepared well; specifically clean and cold just how I like it! They were a really great size as well! For dinner, my mother opted for the House Salad with Shrimp in a Citrus Vinaigrette. The shrimp were a decent size and the spring greens were a nice surprise as my mother expected iceberg lettuce. I had a hodge-podge of items: the catfish with their spicy creole sauce along with brussel sprouts and corn. I travel and eat varieties of great food and what I'll say is this -- they did a superb job on the breading of the catfish! And the Brussel Sprouts were a simple flash fry that left a perfect amount of crunch. I didn't expect much from Bluewater Grill but was pleasantly surprised in the food and flavors. Great little place tucked away next to a Shell station! We've eaten here several times and have always been satisfied. Service can be a tad slow when they are busy, but the staff is very friendly. Seafood is delicious! The smoked mahi doo, calamari and fried crab claws are great appetizers. It would be easy to overlook the Bluewater and dismiss it because it is attached to a gas station. That would be a mistake. This is a fun and delicious place to enjoy fresh seafood, and we look forward to bringing all our out of town guests here! We had the shrimp and grits (unusual to have spinach and mushrooms, but the Gouda grits and sauce were spot on). The Lorenzo's catfish was a huge flavor sensation. Saw many recommendations for Bluewater Grill by locals, and it is very good. Next time, I'll go for some oysters and crab claws. Saw other people getting them and humming, they were so good. Regularly travel to Columbus on business and have eaten at most of the restaurants here. Including Mabellas, Saltcellar and other well known downtown ones. If you are looking for seafood, this is it. Nothing even comes close. It is my favorite go to place for comforting yet healthy food with a very lovely, friendly ambience and nice people all around . The chargrillled oysters with jalapenos , bacon and a drop of their home made hot sauce are heavenly, as is the shrimp pompano . The grouper is done fried, blackened and my favorite - a thin, flour dusted pan sauteed version. The she crab soup so reminds me of some places near the Indian rocks beach in Florida. Extremely fresh and truly the coast coming to the heartland. Very well stocked bar and a good collection of drafts and cans to choose from and pair with the seafood. read more

The food was amazing. The hostess was very pleasant, but our server left much to be desired. She started out wrong. She didn't bring us the amazing, complimentary rolls we saw everyone else getting. We had to ask for them. Then my husband asked if they served pina coladas and she said yes, but what he got was coconut milk on the rocks. She claimed that they didn't have a blender. Well, that should have been explained upfront. I was bartender before becoming a healthcare provider and I had NEVER seen pina coladas served on the rocks. My husband took one sip before she had a chance to leave the table and he told her that it wasn't good. Her resort was that she couldn't take it off the bill because it was alcohol and that he did good to get that because she's severely allergic to pineapples!! Huh?? She spoke with the manager and said it would be taken off the bill, but we were still charged and didn't notice it until after we had left and they were closed. We turned the car around and got them to correct it while they were still there.......even one of her cohorts noticed her poor service and apologized. As far as the food, DELICIOUS!!!! While visiting our son in Fort Benning, we tried this local eatery. The atmosphere was welcoming and warm, the waitstaff were friendly and outgoing and the decor was great! We had sea bass, raw oysters, cooked oysters, shrimp and grits, grouper Panama and some drinks. Everything tasted fresh and delicious! Bluewater Grill Review Bluewater Grill is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. My family, friends, and I have visited this restaurant quite a few times... actually too many to count. The chargrilled oysters are my favorite. On Saturday, my friend and I decided to have dinner at Bluewater. We both ordered the chargrilled oysters and a Lemon Drop. It was delicious! I also ordered the seafood platter with grilled grouper and shrimp, fried oysters, mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts. When my entree arrived, it looked delectable! I ate one of my oysters...delicious! I ate one of my shrimp...delicious! My potatoes and brussel sprouts were great too! I tried my grouper last... It was spoiled. I asked my friend to taste it to be sure... she agreed. I called my server over and explained that the grouper was spoiled. She took my plate. Then, she smelled the fish and said, "No, it doesn't smell right!" She apologized and asked if I would like to order something different. I responded that I wanted the same platter with the mahi instead of the grouper. Moments later, she came back out and said, the manager said that it was a $12 upcharge for mahi so I declined the charge. I decided to get double oysters instead. My server left and returned with my previous food with the exception of the spoiled grouper. My server stated "the manager told me to return your food because there was nothing wrong with it!" I was shocked in disbelief. I returned the plate to her and asked her to remove it from my bill. At this point, I wanted to speak to the manager. When the manager- Melissa- approached our table, she was NOT pleasant at all. She had a very passive aggressive attitude. She was extremely combative. I told her that returning my plate with the same food on it was not acceptable. She did not want to hear anything about the fish being spoiled. When I realized she was not a reasonable person to talk to, I asked for the owner's information. I have reached out but I've been unable to make contact. Bluewater Grill was one of my favorite restaurants! This experience was awful and full of disappointment. I got room temperature calamari , sent it back and received rubbery calamari and over cooked shrimp to replace it ....sent it back and left with 6 oysters in me for dinner . My server , Jacob was great and embarrassed . To add to my experience , I got a very weak bourbon & 7 and a "Big salad " with grilled chicken and a fried shrimp appetizer to bring home for my wife . This was our first visit after we had talked about this place ever since they opened. Why did we wait? I got a cup of gumbo and the Grouper Panama. The gumbo was chocked full of meat, fish and shrimp swimming in a delicious brown sauce. Just a touch of spice so not too hot for my palette. The Grouper had a light dusting of seasoned flour and was delicately fried. A very nice flaky piece of fish. The wife had the Cajun mixed grill which she very much enjoyed. We also had a couple of Mai Tai's that we can highly recommend. For Columbus, Blue Water has a cool beach/old fisherman decor the owner brought up from the gulf coast. The fried Bluewater Grill platter was ok with the grouper tasting a bit fishy which made me think it wasn't totally fresh. The shrimp on the other hand were succulent and tender, not over-cooked and the fried oysters were nicely mild in flavor and perfectly battered and cooked. The grouper in the Po-Boy was very fishy tasting rather than mild tasting as really fresh grouper would have been. The sauce on the Po-Boy was good, but I knew the secret of the mix when I tasted it: a bit of Sriracha sauce, mayo, and possibly a dab of catsup for sweetness. The French fries would have been better had they been fried separately from the fish. They tasted a bit more like fish than potatoes. The salad was good, but the lettuce was not crispy as one might expect, and there was one slice of cucumber, one cherry tomato, and plenty of slivered carrot on the plate under everything else. The saving grace for the salad was the citrus vinaigrette. It was simply sweet and delicious. What the wife and I did really enjoy was the exceptional service by our waiter. Whee doggie. This is THE PLACE for casual seafood dining. Our waitress, Amy, did and exceptionally fine job - friendly, informative, efficient. I stopped by for dinner on a Friday night at 8pm. There was a wait but it was short. A colleague recommended the restaurant to me. I'm from Florida and have become a bit of a seafood connoisseur over the years, so I was skeptical about the quality of the food at Bluewater Grill, especially since it is connected to a gas station lol. I have to say though, the food is delicious! I had the gulf shrimp fried, substituted the smashed potatoes for grits, and had the veggie of the day which was corn on the cob. The shrimp was seasoned perfectly! It didn't have that oceany taste at all. The grits were flavorful and so was the corn. I really enjoyed my meal and went back multiple times since then. I have had the grilled shrimp, grouper grilled and fried, mashed potatoes, gumbo, spinach, and brussel sprouts. It's ALL good!!! The only think I did not enjoy were the crab claws. I just prefer mine with garlic butter and they use more sherry than butter so it's just a matter of personal preference. My daughter and i were in Columbus on some personal business for a week and were tired of the new southern blah blah blah restaurants. I believe this place was here when I lived here last, but never came here. After this experience, i should have tried it earlier. We started with the crab claws, my daughter is a pickey eater, and when she asked for garlic and oil only, tbey honored her request. They were phenominal. I highly recommend it, and cant imagine how it would be as they normally serve it. I got the grilled oysters. They were good, but i wish i stuck with my raw that i enjoy so much. We also ordered gumbo and a griiled shrimp plate. Overall, way too much food for us, but everything was great. I think the thing that killed us was the little "crack" dunner rolls. They are soft, warm, and coated in garlic butter and the two we were served were not enough. Our server was great! Service was great, overall a great experience.
