Bluff Park was given to the people of Galiano Island and is held in trust (so says the sign). What a gift! It is a beautiful park and very "accessible" By that I mean you can choose to hike or you can actually drive to the top, where there's parking for 5 or 6 cars and then walk along the trail for as long as you like. Picnic possibilities abound (so do the deer and the eagles). Views over Active Pass across to all of the Southern Gulf Islands.
If you wish to hike, you can walk from the Village near the ferry, take the Sturdies Bay trail and branch up to the Bluffs from there. Or you can walk up past the Village, turn and follow Burrill Road until it becomes Bluff Road and goes directly into the park, and you'll see the sign for Bluff Park guiding you up an old rough road to the top.
Like most trails and viewpoints on Galiano, there are no guard rails so children should be on a leash. (not really but you know what I mean). read more
