BMW World is located next to Olympic Park and and is a multi-story exhibition, delivery, adventure museum, and event venue. On my summer trip to Munich I stopped by in the evening as they are open late till midnight. On display they have the latest innovations in BMW cars, bikes, and SUVs. Also on display were Mini Coopers and Rolls Royce. I had no idea Rolls Royce had an EV, it sure is beautiful, but at over $450,000, way over my budget. :P Overall, this is a fun place to check out some really cool vehicles. And the best part is that it's completely FREE! It's conveniently located next to the subway station exit for Olympic Park.
It was pretty cool getting to see a wide range of cars, including the latest BMW models. What makes the experience even better is how interactive it is you can actually sit inside many of the cars and take pictures. There are also fun photo booths! Definitely worth checking out and it is definitely kid friendly too.
We stopped here to queue up for the BMW factory tour. The Welt is a multi-functioning customer experience space for car buyers, car/BMW aficionados and general tourists. They have different sections including cars from BMW (of course), but also other divisions such as Mini and Rolls Royce. Within the BMW brand, they have an excellent motorcycle display of recent model bikes that able to be sat on and interested with. They also had a concept section and a "M" (Motorsport) section as well. MUST SEE if you are even a small car enthusiast.
Impressive stop to spend at least a half hour (and very likely more than that if you want to look closely at the cars). There are several cars on display here including BMWs, Rolls Royce, and Mini Coopers. There's also a cafe, free restrooms, Lego experience, shopping, and a museum. Highly recommend!
This is a free exhibit to see all the latest cars. They also have a few different interactive things to do. One is a video that you can put your face to while the other is 180 camera of you. There are locations to grab food as well. This is directly across from the BMW museum. When you exit the museum you can walk across the walkway.
Nice if you like seeing the current models of BMW and Mini cars. Also has clean, and more importantly when traveling in Europe, free restrooms.
I am not into cars at all, but BMW World is really cool and worth a visit if you're in Munich. It is free to enter, and there are lots of luxury cars on display. There is a cafe and gift shop inside. I didn't go to the BMW Museum, which you have to pay for, and I thought this place was great for someone who has no interest in cars like me just to look around and admire fancy cars.
If you're a BMW fan, this spot is a must for you! Check out their hottest cars and gift shop to show your love of the brand. Please note the BMW Welt is pretty much a museum that showcases new new car concepts in a sleekly designed building. They also have some MINI Cooper displays. If you have time, it's a no-brainer to check this place out since it's free entrance! We actually didn't even go to the real museum since we thought this was cool enough and just wanted to get back to downtown Munich. It would've been awesome to go on the factory tour, but I think it's only open on weekdays and we were there on a weekend. Next time! I like how you can buy a BMW, it gets delivered it to the middle BMW Welt on a platform you must take an elevator to, then you can drive it out of the actual building.
Despite the PCR routine during the pandemic, I had a great experience here while most of my questions were answered by the guy who has curly hair and speaks in traditional Mandarine. If you're a fan of BMW, you definitely have to come here for the newest and coolest models. during your trip in Munich. He did not only answer my question but explained more tech issues that were related to my questions. However, the reason I took one start off was because there was no one I could ask any questions during my first half hour tour.
This is an interesting approach to a dealership floor room. It's more like an open air exhibit that also has a cafe and slide. Highly recommend especially if you are in the market for a car. You are able to hop into some of the cars and it will allow you to see the models upfront and in person.......to include Rolls and Mini Coopers.
Why 5 stars? Because this was the coolest car dealership ever. --- --- --- After visiting the BMW museum, we were told that the Welt was still open for a few more hours. I mean, anytime a car dealership is open until midnight, that's pretty cool in itself, right? Much like the museum, the best part about the Welt is the amazing architecture of the building and the displays. The cars are all surrounded by really cool lighting that makes for an auto photographer's dream. Is car porn a thing? This is nothing like a typical dealership in the U.S. where the second you step foot on the property, you're hit up by an over-anxious sales person. I think they are used to people walking over from the museum who have no intention of purchasing a BMW. As a matter of fact, the only time someone spoke to us when we wanted to use the picture-taking machine they have setup by one of the really nice cars. Definitely worth the walk across the street once you're done with the museum - there are multiple cafes here too, in case starring at six figure cars all day works up your appetite.
BMW Fans need to make this pilgrimage. It's part of the European delivery option but if you are in Munich, swing by and check out this and the BMW Museum. It's a super cool building with food and drink, small exhibitions, and of course BMW swag. They are building something new so pay attention in late fall 2019 I think. I would give it more than 4 stars but a couple things were not working when went. Like the driving simulator rig by the i cars. Still super cool. Especially at night.
My favorite part of the BMW showroom was the Biker's Lounge (Lodge?). About fifteen contemporary motorcycles are displayed, and people are encouraged to pretend ride them. Perfect for anyone who has little interest in actually driving or riding on a motorcycle but who thinks the idea of doing so is fun! The cafe has a wide selection of bottled beverages and places to sit. Perfect for people who are thirsty after touring the museum and take a moment to plan the next excursion. It was neat to see all the Minis one can buy. I had no idea that the Mini Cooper was not the only model available. The AWD off-roady version that is both mini and not mini was comical to see.
Welt is pretty much one stop for everything BMW and Mini. The building is sleek and modern, but interior wise it is pretty much a fancied up BMW dealership with all the bells and whistles and than some. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, since they don't charge admission to visit this flagship dealership, where you can rent a BMW, either classic or the latest,; pick up your BMW here via European Delivery; watch someone do some basic stunt motorcycle riding; or even grab a meal. Now the coolest thing about Welt is their location, which is right across from BMW's headquarters, and their main production factory in Munich. This is your starting point for the guided factory production tour, which takes you through the production plant from start to finish. The tours are offered in English and in German and only during the weekdays. I would advise that you call ahead by phone to arrange the tour, which they won't do by email. The cost when I went it was about 8 Euro per person, which is pretty reasonable, since you get a 2.5 hour tour of the plant and you get to see a lot of things. The guide we had was really good and was able to give us a good background on how BMW manages their plant and what they do with their waste materials. Really cool museum / BMW showroom in Munich with great exhibitions. We visited here on a very wet day in Munich. They're currently celebrating 40 years of the 3 series (1975 - 2015) and is well worth a visit this year to see that collection. I fell in love with a 1955 Isetta - just fabulous. If you've never done a European delivery, this needs to go on your bucket list. You are given your specific appointment time. This is when you check in and get seated at a fabulous area with food and beverages and a view of the entire showroom. Once in a while you will see a spotlight on a car spinning around. The wait is so much like Christmas. You are given a tour of the museum and see exactly how each BMW is made. This experience lasts the entire day. You have your own representative to assist you with all your wants and needs. Eventually the spotlight goes on and you see your car spinning below you. It is the most beautiful thing to see the car you ordered spinning under the spotlight. You know you will be driving it on the autobahn soon. Today, you must learn everything about that shining new object. The autobahn must wait. This was my Christmas! read more

Ok - I am admittedly a huge fan of BMW across the board. I loved them when they were in F1, and their DTM series is a lot of fun to watch. I also love their motorcycles as well as their cars, and am currently on my 5th "Bimmer". Some people cherish a trip to Legoland, but I would not consider a trip to München complete without stopping in at BMW Welt, especially as a pickup customer. Yup - I did a European Delivery again. I first tried this out in 2009, when I was utterly burned out and wanted to spend a couple of weeks blasting around on the Autobahn with my new 5-series. That turned out to be so amazing, that I decided to do it all over again for my new 6-series convertible, and knew that I had to have at least a month on the roads this time. The European Delivery program is a brilliant marketing ploy of BMW's - you get to spend a day touring the factory, visiting the museum, get a bite to eat in the exclusive customer-only lounge, and then get a red-carpet vehicle delivery experience right in the center of the BMW Welt where your car is rotating on a turntable like you're at an auto show while random tourists take pictures of you because you and your car are the star attraction. Oh - and you also get a fantastic discount on the car if you do European Delivery. Before getting to the customer area, I decided to wander around and see what was new. BMW have done a fantastic job of separating the brands under one roof so that each has its spotlight but doesn't encroach on the others. Rolls Royce stands brilliantly aloof and subtly lit while Mini has lots of cool little swag around each of the cars on display. BMW Motorrad overlooks everything across 2 eyries connected by a walkway over the main car display area. Pride of place though belongs to BMW vehicles down below. The electric i3 & i8 have their own area, the 7 series is prominently placed right by the front doors, and all the other models can easily be found with a little bit of walking, and there is much more detail than any dealership can spare the room for around the BMW Individual paints, leather options, and how unique you can make your vehicle. Oh - and be careful walking around, as BMW give rides in their mint-condition 1950s Isetta around the main hallway of the BMW Welt. The Isetta is unique - tiny, noisy, and just incredibly cute. Getting upstairs at my appointed time, I was quickly ushered through to my delivery coordinator. She sorted out my paperwork, got my insurance and drop-off information signed, and made sure that I understood how highway signs and laws worked in each of the countries I intended to traverse. I was then handed over to Alexandra, who would be introducing me to my new car. If you can, take the staircase down from the customer lounge to your vehicle, as at the landing you will see your new baby sitting right in front of you like it's the Auto Show at the Javits. Alexandra was great, running through all of my questions and showing me what was different on the 6 from the 5, and was quick to ask for help on the few occasions I stumped her with a question. After everything was done, she let me pull a "victory lap" around the mezzanine of the BMW Welt, where I rejoiced in letting the exhaust startle everyone in earshot. 2 important things to note if you're picking up. 1) BMW used to have a professional photographer to take your picture next to your new car. No longer, so be sure you have a camera or good camera phone if you want a little memory of this. 2) If you have another BMW, you can export your music and seat preferences onto a USB stick and your new car will have all your old comfortable settings in seconds. Of course, no visit here is complete without the exit through the gift shop. Any sort of paraphernalia that you could possibly want branded with the BMW or Mini logo (Rollers seem to be a bit more discreet) is for sale. You can even get the photo that you took picking up your new car laser-etched into a picture frame for posterity. In short, BMW Welt is a great way to spend the day as a "petrol head" together with a visit to the BMW Museum. We spent a decent amount of time at BMW Welt when in Munich for the European Delivery pickup of our new BMW. It was a fantastic experience! BMW Welt is easily accessed by U-Bahn (just a few minutes walk from the station) and has long opening hours. We made a quick 1 hour trip the day before our ED pickup to verify that we knew where we were going and to explore the area. We made a quick peek inside the Welt but didn't explore too far. The next morning, we were inside by 7:30 AM for our check-in. After signing in at the front desk and leaving our luggage, we were whisked away to the VIP Elevator to the top floor, where we checked in and received our schedule & cards. Sabrine was able to arrange for us to return to the Welt a few days later to do a tour of the Museum (it's closed on Wednesday) and then took us to the Premium Lounge to relax. BMW keeps the lounge well stocked with all sorts of drinks (hot or cold, alcoholic & non-alcoholic) and an assortment of light snacks & meals that change as the day goes on (pastries at breakfasts, sausages at lunch, etc.). We enjoyed about an hour of lounging and peering down at the other folks picking up their BMWs before Petra came up to get us for our delivery. After a quick demonstration of our car's features through a video game-type simulation, we found ourselves going down the magic staircase and peering down at our car, rotating on a platform with a spotlight on top of it. Yes, it's cheesy, but I loved it! Petra gave us a thorough explanation of our car and gave us plenty of time to ask questions while we took photos and soaked in the moment. It's not every day that one gets to pick up a new BMW! At this point, we saw that our luggage had been brought to our car where BMW folks helped us get things loaded. We were given our official photo & given the directions on how to drop the car off at the valet while we finished our day at the Welt. After the valet took our car, we spent four hours or so touring the Welt, watching the motorsport exhibition, taking a factory tour and all that jazz. After a quick stop at the gift shop to spend our credit & pick up our personalized keychain, we were back to the valet to pick up our car for the rest of our European vacation. BMW does the ED experience well, and the Welt serves as a fantastic setting. Friendly folks, a gorgeous building. We're now BMW customers for life, it seems :) read more

Great location to check out some BMW stuff. A lil store inside. Check out some cars and see new owners picking up their new BMW cars. Check out their website for upcoming events. Olympic park is nearby as well as the BMW Museum and the BMW plant. Parking garage inside the building easy to access. Get a little tast of BMW. :-) read more

Loved this place. You can customize your own BMW. They have Mini Coppers and Rolls Royce too. Free of charge and the architecture of the building is amazing. I saw a few people test driving cars which you can do inside the building. We sat on motorcycles and even played some video games. You can sit inside some of the cars here not to include the Rolls Royce. read more

The BMW welt is a must see when you visit Munich, you can sit in any of the newest release cars for BMW, Mini, and Rolls Royce. It's a great place to visit with kids and it's free, you can look at not just cars but the motorcycle line as well, gift shop is large and has a very good selection of BMW/Mini products. read more

It's BMW's flagship showroom complete with multiple restaurants and gift shop. They have some interactive displays for some of the cars they have out on display, but for the most part you'll have to cross the bride to the museum for the cool stuff. read more

If you are a BMW fan, you got to visit this place. Plus it is free :) You can see current BMW models. They have a fun gift shop. I am a MINI owner and they have the MINI items upstairs. The kids enjoyed the piano lounge room with the artificial fireplace and the comfy chairs in front of it. After we were done with BMW Welt we continued to the BMW Museum. Also, there is free wifi there :) read more

Most everyone has said it before, lots of great exhibits of cars, motorcycles, engines (including airplane) and memoribilia/ history. Looks of great books in the gift shop. If you like cars and or architecture a visit here is worth it! We didn't visit the factory, only hte museum buildings. read more

BMW Welt is an oversized BMW showroom. They pretty much have anything BMW that you would want to buy and you can even sit on a couple of the motorcycles. The new Mission Impossible movie just came out, so they had some movie-related things there to see when we were there. Very interesting, but the more interesting things are in the museum across the road. read more
