On a recent road trip to Chicago after getting sick & tired of eating McDonalds twice in 14 hours we decided to look around for a Chinese place along the highway & came across Bo Bo. Bo Bo all I can say is you made a freakin Boo Boo out of my daughter & you get one star for making my poor child puke out of her wits. It was lunch time & as far as I remember we ordered 2 entrees & some soup. My daughter only had the soup. Food was okay tasting except that the soup had that stench where a cook like me can tell that someone is mixing their meat chopping boards with their vegetable chopping boards. Either way we had hardly hit the road for 10 minutes & lo & behold my daughter started vomiting. Not to mention I had a queasy stomach as an after affect as well. I stopped in here Saturday night, I called to ask what time they closed and the lady said at 9:30 so in 20 min. She said I could order take out. I ordered the single sesame chicken meal it came with 2 scoops of rice and 2 crab rangoons. For all that it was only about $8 so I thought that was great. My food was ready in about 10 min. The kitchen is quick and the quantities are generous. I am basing this review on my experiences over the last few years. The food is usually good but sometimes they can over cook the chicken in some dishes, causing the chicken to be tough. The vegetables have always been good as they use fresh veggies in their dishes rather then frozen. My regular Chinese place was closed for the weekend so I decided to give this one a try after reading the reviews. I ordered the broccoli chicken and sesame chicken because you can't go wrong with these staple dishes. I couldn't eat the broccoli chicken. It seemed to have no spices and tasted only like chicken bouillon. It was terrible. The sesame chicken had a weird plastic after taste and was very chewy. I ended up throwing it away. I go to Bo Bo China almost exclusively for the skill and authenticity with which they make Szechuan Beef and other Szechuan regional cuisine. Before there was a Bo Bo China, I went to House of Hunan on 132nd Street for the same food. As far as I know, the owners are still the same. I order my Szechuan Beef extra hot and they don't play around. This is a place that must have someone in the kitchen with some roots in the Szechuan province because it's the real deal and I have not found a local offering that can can even compete. Once in a while I like to order Peanut Butter Chicken or Mongolian Beef for a change. The Peanut Butter Chicken is a great change of pace. It's extremely rich and creamy. As with General Tso's Chicken, it is very sweet. It isn't something I eat an entire order of in one sitting. I'll usually have a half order of Tso's or PB Chicken with a half order of something soy-based. As far as the beef meals go, I must say that the quality of the beef is a cut above most Chinese restaurants I've visited. It isn't the chewy, extremely cheap beef that seems to be common place for the majority. Aside for my romance with the Szechuan food, the eggrolls are awesome and the crab rangoon is (as it is at most any restaurant offering it) to die for. I've had one occasion where a friend thought the sauce with his General Tso's chicken was a bit off. After asking the waiter about it, the meal was completely remade to his liking without charge. I have never had the Tso's chicken at Bo Bo, but it is a dish at House of Hunan that I am particularly fond of. It's like candy. This is a great restaurant that is dedicated to pleasing guests. They are a staple in my book and the first place that comes to mind when I want Chinese food in West Omaha. As far as the reviewer with the comment about the food not being fit for galley slaves; I find that claim to be ridiculous and laughable. The review you wrote doesn't mention anything specific at all and frankly, I get the feeling that you have a personal problem with someone or something related to the restaurant that has nothing to do with the food and you're using Yelp as a venue for publicly bashing them. I have no clue why anyone in their right mind would sit and eat something as revolting as you describe. Any issue I've ever had, no matter how miniscule, was addressed by the staff at Bo Bo and resolved to my liking. read more

We finally gave this place a try. It wasn't horrible but it definitely wasn't fresh, hot, or special. Between the four of us we had three chicken dishes. All were room temperature at best. The rice was room temperature at best also. The crab rangoon filling was not creamy and they tasted a bit freezer burned. We personally won't be back but now we know. read more

I've been here a couple times with friends, have had take out as well as sitting down to grub. The waiting period for production wasn't agonizing nor was the food distasteful (in my opinion of course). There's not a whole lot making up the scenery in Bo Bo's. A fish tank and a T.V is really all it offers. A side from that, I don't think its a bad place to eat at if you're not an indecisive person. Gave this place a try. I got the general Tso's chicken and it was definitely the worst I've ever had. The Crab Rangoon's were also burnt and the rice was hard and a bit cold. I only ate maybe three spoonfuls before I gave up and just tossed it in the trash.
