The Good: First, I have to say the pizza rolls were out of bounds! I don't know how they make their vegan mozz, but it is hands down better than really dairy. It's got the perfect texture and taste. Also, the vegan sausage and pepperoni's were phenomenal. The white pizza was very tasty, but also extremely salty and buttery/oily (very heavy). We also had s milk shake which was decent, but a little too milky. The bad: It seems like you could have squeezed a half of a cup of oil from the funnel cake. Very underwhelming and disappointing. Definitely one of the best vegan places in Philadelphia! I got a pizza and some wings. They were really high quality, and tasted like the real thing. The cheez didn't taste fake- it just was far more subtle than I was used to. Would probably benefit from adding in some Daiya cheddar. The wings were just barely grainier than real chicken wings, and if you didn't tell someone what they were eating i'm sure they would believe it was just slightly chewier chicken. My only gripes were that the pizza crust wasn't crispy at all and the wings had an odd aftertaste. The aftertaste disappears after 2 wings though. Also, it is really expensive when compared to the alternatives at non-vegan restaurants- roughly double the price of competitors. Even still, Boardwalk is a place worth trying. This place took me to church, because after every bite, I was saying "Oh my God"! I ordered the Sea Serpent Italian hoagie, which they advertised as the Best hoagie on the planet. I thought they were getting ahead of themselves, but my God, they're right! It was the size of an Otter, and was the best Italian hoagie I ever ate. You don't have to be vegan to eat here, because it tastes like a non-vegan hoagie. My sandwich was handed to me in like 4 seconds after I ordered it, and they are so darn friendly here.I am looking to rent an apartment in the same building so I can eat here everyday. Just found out about this spot over the weekend. They are closed Monday and Tuesday so we had to wait until today to try the and wow, the food is AMAZING! Ordered the Hot Son Chicken Wings w / Blue Cheese, Cliff Hanger all veggie cheese steak sandwich, Disco Fries (hand cut cheese fries w/ vegan beef gravy) and Large Great White Pizza. We've been to a LOT of vegan establishments in the area but this place is the best hands down! Each of the items listed above EASILY bests the similar offerings for any place we've tried! We will be back often for sure! BTW, the Great White Pizza outdoes most non vegan white pizzas I've had. Of course there is no ricotta but this Pizza has super good texture and flavor! Stopped here after a hike at Ridley State and it was so good. We got the pizza balls and the white pizza, which were our favorites. Probably the best vegan pizza we've had. And the fried Oreos! I haven't had fried Oreos since before going vegan so it was such a treat. Highly, highly recommend. read more

I got the following delivered and I have to say the packaging was great. * Hot Son Chick'n Wings * Most chicken-like taste and presentation I've had from seitan. Much better than my own. I'm not making it again. * They look like the other pics in other reviews. I ate mine too fast for a pic. * Even the soggiest "wing" was great. I would just crisp it back up in toaster oven. I was going to but I ate it because they were so good! * The blue "cheese" was good too * The seitan has a nice chew but it's not spongy * The sauce is unique; not too spicy * It even tastes better than a boneless chicken wing. * Dante's Inferno Pizza * Tastes like a sweet buffalo chicken pizza. Went here for the first time tonight. The wife and I had their Cyclone cheesesteak, the Doo Whopper Burger, and an Oatmilk Mint Chocolate Chip Milkshake. Everything was absolutely slamming! The burger and cheesesteak tasted like the real thing and were just bursting with flavor. I dare say if you gave them to folks to eat and didn't tell them they were eating a vegan cheesesteak and burger, they would never guess they were eating vegan. And that's coming from someone who eats meat with at least two meals a day. The staff were also nice and my order was ready right on schedule. If I had to find fault with the place it's that parking is a bit tricky. It's located on a corner with street parking only so maneuvering to park to pick up your order can be a bit tricky, especially during rush hour. So, give yourself some time to find a spot to park and pick up your order. It will be worth it!!! read more

I like the food and want to support a local vegan restaurant but they seem incapable of getting orders ready in a timely fashion. It took an hour and a half to receive a text saying my order was ready. And when we arrived it wasn't actually ready We had to stand and wait another half hour. read more

Friendly customer service. We ordered so much food because we couldn't decide. Honey bbq wings with blue cheese dressing, Dante inferno fries, cheese steak, roast beef sandwich, pizza, milk shake, fried Oreos. This may or may not have been for 2 people. This spot is a good vegan/vegetarian spot but their prices and wait times are outlandish. I have zero complaints about the flavors and portion size, but the 30-45 min wait time needs improvement. With proper staff and support many of these small business hiccups would be avoided. They have the potential to be amazing, but they need to expand their vision and hire help. read more

This was the best vegan cheesesteak I've had in the last 20 years. Generous with meat, mushrooms, onions--just like a cheesesteak should be! Great roll. It tasted wonderful and I can't wait to go visit again. Inside is still closed, so only window service. The order was finished quick. I ate the fun mint chocolate chip ice cream outside at the little two person table in the sun and brought my cheesesteak home. It lasted two meals. read more

We've tried boardwalk vegan twice since the last review. Once, everything went great. Today, we called in an order. We were told it would be ready in about half an hour. Arrived when it should have been ready, were told another 12-15 minutes. Okay annoying, but fine. It actually took more than an extra 30 minutes. We ordered shortly after 4. We weren't eating until 5:45. We live a 15 minute drive away. It's FINE if it's going to take a long time, just be upfront about it so we can plan accordingly. Please boardwalk vegan, hire some restaurant management to avoid this happening again, and please don't leave the poor girl at the window to fend for herself. She was bearing the brunt of a lot of cold and annoyed people while getting 0 information from the kitchen. Your food is delicious. We want to love you, you just make it so hard. read more

Wow! I had to stop myself from trying everything!! Amazing vegan food! We got the cheese fries, the Baby Venice pizza (margherita pizza), the Caesar salad, the cyclone (cheesesteak) and funnel cake! All great! I will personally get the fries, cheesesteak and pizza again. The caesar salad was very peppery so keep that in mind if you don't like "spicy". The funnel cake was great but I can't get that every time .... can I? ;) Next I want to try more pizzas, the root beer float and crab cake sandwich. Enjoy! read more

Have eaten at vegan restaurants from Massachusetts to Georgia. Not even close, the best vegan sandwiches anywhere. Easily vegan cheesesteak ever had. Only vegan hoagie that compares to the real thing. Daughter raved over hot roast beef and fish sandwich.Onion rings and fries were delicious and authentic. To be fair, the milkshakes were good, but not the best. The vegan ice cream and non-dairy milk used could be approved upon. Does not detract from the delicious foodie experience. read more

As a non-vegan with vegan family members I have been subject to the highs and lows that can come with vegan food. This place is genuinely the best vegan food I have ever had. The wings were outstanding and I would order them over the "regular" wings I normally get elsewhere. Cheesesteak had a great roll and the fries were good and crisp. Awesome place. We ordered a white pizza, the jersey girl pizza and added sausage 18". Perfect size for 2. The crust was nice and salty/buttery. We also had the Mac and cheese, not too much to rave about that .. it's pretty plain, but you can add so many things for additional $. I will give a heads up that this review is based off of only purchasing one item but it was amazing! I ordered the large order of vegan wings with ranch and they were amazing. Not being a vegan/vegetarian myself, I've had countless actual chicken wings to compare these to and I would pick Boardwalk Vegan's wings over almost all of them! They fried them in a way that gave the perfect crisp to the outside for a slight crunch but they weren't over done or dry. Whatever sauce they use was amazing and the vegan ranch was great too! Next time I am in the area I cannot wait to try more items. I will also mention the staff were all super friendly when I went to pick up the food. :) read more

Ok so I ordered for the first time tonight and we had the pizza balls, chicken finger platter and the jersey girl pizza with a cauliflower crust. The food was just so good. So so good. It's a Friday night and they were super busy. Call early and give them a few extra minutes of preparation time--you won't be disappointed. Few side notes: The packaging for carry out is good quality. The people were nice and very organized even though they were really busy. The portions are generous and quality of ingredients was readily apparent. It is so nice to have a Vegan take out option in Delco that tastes so good. We have tried them twice so far and both times everything has been great! The first time we tried The Great White pizza (amazing garlicky goodness), boardwalk fries, hot son chick'n wings, and super scooter smash burger. Tonight we tried the Roast "beef", the veggie lovers cheesesteak, and garlic knots. Seriously good. I also love the feel of Boardwalk Vegan, the walk up window is perfect for both the theme and COVID precautions. The only downside is parking in the area is limited. read more

WHAT A GEM. We've been coming here since just after it opened and are regularly here once or twice a week. It's perfect. We've tried almost everything that's on the menu and there's literally nothing we wouldn't enthusiastically order again. It would take an hour to write out a review of all the deliciousness, but try anything you want -- you won't be disappointed. Everything tastes like it was made with love, and like you're actually sitting in some sandy pizza joint on the Jersey shore. It's just simple, good food. And I love how it doesn't taste "vegan" at all -- it's good food first, and the vegan bit is a happy plus. Special shout-out to the Caesar, which is heavenly. I've tried like 30 vegan Caesars and this one is the best. Only critique is it doesn't come with enough dressing so you have to order more (no idea if it's branded or housemade but I could eat that stuff with a spoon). Other favorites include the Baby Venice (best vegan pizza I've ever had, and I've had a lot), the tofu ravioli, the Pharoah's Fury, and the Sea Serpent Sub. Oh and the lemonade, which is true "down the shore" yumminess. Only one big area of improvement: When we first started coming here the pizza had a properly thick Jersey shore crust -- doughy, pillowy flavorful perfection. Like 11/10. Lately it's been thin crust a lot, which is OK but nowhere near the praiseworthy beauty of the thicker crust. I guess it depends on who's making it that day, but I wish they'd standardize and go back to the thick crust, since we've started ordering pizza less since we don't know which one we're going to get. But overall, absolutely lovely, and worth a try (or five)! read more

Boardwalk Vegan Review This past weekend I called Boardwalk Vegan to order food for a surprise birthday party I was holding. I spoke with the owner, Krissie, who offered to open shop on the day of the party, Monday, even though they are normally closed to accommodate our order. I ordered a ton of items, including: a mixed green salad with plenty of toppings, Italian hoagie tray, baked ziti, sausage and peppers, garlic knots, 3 types of pizzas (white, margherita, and tomato pie) and an assortment of desserts. EVERYTHING was delicious! I personally don't follow a vegan diet, but one would never know that the entire spread was vegan. For a cheese lover, I could not tell the baked ziti or pizza was anything different from what I'm used to. I HIGHLY recommend Boardwalk Vegan, not only for their excellent quality of food, but for the customer service. Krissie and her staff could not have been more accommodating. read more

I Based this on over all experience. The staff is friendly but hurried on the phone. The order took 45 minutes from order to pick up. There is no parking. One woman in line said the menu hanging in the window had a lower price for the pizza she ordered, it didn't, but because of the lack of experience and hurried staff she gave it to her without checking. THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS! This is not your place to go if you care about calories or fat! Taste was over 5 stars. $13,for a 6oz burger is crazy. The roll dwarfed the burger and they tried to fill out the sandwich with a whole romaine leaf across the teeny burger. There are no pickles, chips, fries with this either. The wings were flavorful-a little crispier IMO-would be better. The cyclone is a nice sized true cheese steak! Exciting, delish and worth the $. The white pizza "was better than any white pizza around" that coming from non vegans in the house. It was soooo good. I won't eat the left overs (the kids will) because it was such an indulgence-dripping butter. The fries taste like they were right from the boardwalk! But again-the cost was too high especially considering you had to order them to make the teeny burger a filling meal. I hope they balance out some things and are successful. We definitely need more vegan restaurants. Too expensive to be a regular for us but we'll definitely return! read more
