This cafe has hard floors and way too many tables making it very noisy during peak periods even when it is not at full capacity. If they removed maybe 20% of the tables, the atmosphere would be hugely improved and you would not need to yell across the table to your fellow diners. This is very much cafe service, order at the bar & DO NOT forget your table number or you will get frowned upon. You have been warned. You will need to wait for and carry your own drinks to the table too. The food is regular Italian cafe style - bruchettas, pastas, pizzas, salads. All good but nothing amazing. Same goes for the coffee. Pizzas are probably the highlight. This is a great place to go on a sunny day because you can sit lakeside and soak up the sun and people watch. read more

Probably the most popular casual cafe in Mawson Lakes, with the best location right on the Lake, ample seating inside and out, and great cheap food to match. It's the easy go-to place for a spontaneous lunch up north, and they serve pub style meals, pasta, foccacias, breakfast, alcohol and sweets. The best part about this cafe is its location, it's on the main boulevard, which is like the lake esplanade, but they have 5 or 6 tables of 4 across a zebra crossing on the boardwalk of the actual lake. It's the closest I've eaten to water in a long time, and you can watch the ducks play at your feet almost and smell the sweat of the joggers and bike riders. The staff bring your food out to you over there too, just not your drinks, and there is always competition to get one of these spots on a nice day. Definitely somewhere to check out and eat at when in Mawson Lakes, you can't miss it. read more

16/12/2011 I'm not sure why this new chick has been taking me out to quite a few dinners lately, but I'm certainly not complaining :) Especially when we have this pretty lakeside cafe that proves that: #1 The Mawson Lakes local council (or whoever's responsible for the rapid development of this relatively new suburb) have been making a lot of impressive things happen, like introducing new real estate, businesses and shopping precincts! and.... #2 Good girls can appear out of nowhere! Boatdeck Cafe has something for everyone...so whether you're: in the mood to strap on the joggers, walk your dog, starving for a nice dinner, relax outside the restaurant and enjoy the lakeside view, rap with your new chick, sip something cold and refreshing, get away from work for a little bit, run the stress out of your body, or even catch up on some much-needed shopping - you can do any of those things here, or around the Cafe! Plus..it's easier to spot than some of the other shops on Mawson Lakes Blvd. The view is refreshing and gorgeous! Take your iPod and your sweatpants, or take your partner (or your new date) along - I know I already have more than twice before! read more

Very mediocre coffee and overpriced breakky and pizza. When will Adeliade / Mawson Lakes catch up to the rest of the world? You have to line up (for ages if it's busy) to order (pretty standard procedure for Adeliade unfortunately) and queue across the flow of traffic of staff bringing out meals etc. Ruins the experience of going to a cafe to relax and be waited on. I guess people in ML don't know any different. Today I ordered poached eggs with two sides. Toast was cold and sooo stale and dry. Eggs were ok. I got three cherry tomatoes as a side for $2.00! Horrid coffee. Not a big fan. Their only saving grace is their wood fired pizza which is probably the best in ML. But there's not much competition anyway. Don't come in here expecting anything that will blow your hair back. x read more

My partner and I have been to the boatdeck cafe multiple times and left disappointed everytime. Pay good money for food that was nothing but bland. salt and pepper and herbs go along way to creating some sort of edible food that does not taste like cardboard. Have had the Caesar salad which you pretty much pay for a bowl of unseasoned lettuce. Also had the eggs and bacon roll and sorely disappointed. absolutely NO butter, no salt and pepper, not even on the table. absolutely bland like cardboard again. Could not even eat it. My partner had the bruschetta tomato, no balsamic vinegar, two drips of olive oil over two pieces of bread. no salt and pepper to even season. the chef should be embarrassed. We won't be recommending or returning here, I'm all for giving people a second chance but please start seasoning your food. Staff are always friendly, this review is purely based on the food. read more

Food keep it afloat but are the prices the anchor? Food at the cafe is great for breakfast but the prices are a bit steep for what you get. The food is not to bad but its the only large waterfront cafe in the area. Lets hope the food quality improves to warrant the high prices or the boat deck might go the way of the titanic. read more

A great little cafe, very popular with the locals in Mawson Lakes. They specialise in pizzas and pasta dishes and everything is fresh, simple and tasty. I recommend their chicken risotto which was full of flavour! read more

Better than 3 star, but not quite 4, this place is great if you just want to have a quick lunch with colleagues & know the food will be good. Their pizzas are probably their best dishes along with my favourites, tomato & basil bruschetta and falafel baguette. With concrete floors & as many tables as they can fit in, this is not the place for a quiet intimate lunch but for a reliable feed, this is my vote for the best place in Mawson Lakes. read more

Boatdeck used to be one of my favorite place to go. However after the recent dining experience it no longer is. The orders took extensively long waiting time with wrong order. My spaghetti was only provided with a spoon. I went to ask for a fork but was told that they'll bring it over with other dishes. So I guess I'll either eat my spaghetti with spoon or leave it till cold until they bring over a fork, while letting flies to feast upon it. The spaghetti marinara is poorly made with low grade mussels and 2 out of 4 of them was tightly shut. Only to find out a tiny pathetic stale piece is hidden within the shell after all the effort to open it. Not to mention that they put A LOT of chilli inside the dish, making it a spicy greasy plate of mess. I don't mind to spice up my pasta dish but that amount of chilli is outrageous. It paralyses my sensory and I could not feel anything else other than the burning sensation. Each little hiccup alone is understandable. However it all happened within one dining session and made everything look like a cluster foxtrot. I began to question the integrity of this restaurant especially on a management level. I wouldn't want to visit it again. read more

Nasty noisy. Table of 18. 2 meals were ok. Salads. 1 steak was as ordered but dissapointing in size and quality for $33. Two steaks supposedly rare to medium were cooked to leather. Not much nice to say especially after being attacked by the owner trying to redeem herself. She would not let up. Had to be rude to be left alone to eat my meal in peace. Go elsewhere. read more

Location, location, location... So the saying goes. If location was the most important part of running a restaurant then the Boat Deck Cafe would be a winner. Located directly across from Mawson Lake, the restaurant is always very busy. Eventhough the staff are busy, (and you can see they're ALWAYS busy) they are always very welcoming. The menu is surprisingly big with many cafe favourites on the menu, from pizza and pasta to parmigiana. For my pick I chose a pizza, which had come recommended from some friends. The toppings were fresh and the base wasn't at all greasy. The food was a very pleasant experience, though it was the atmosphere of the lake that really completes the experience. With seating extended across the road and out to the lake edge itself, you can have your food bought out to the lake edge for a quiet meal. You do have the buzzing of cars, the joggers and people walking dogs, but these are hardly annoyances. There's no need to feel guilty if you overeat, as you can take a leisurely walk around Mawson Lake and work off your meal. If you're feeling really guilty you could run or jog it! Of course you might not want to do that immediately after eating. The food is nice, but the lakeside dining completes the experience. Well worth the experience. read more

Had a few meals in the Boat Deck Cafe and have all generally been good. However on our visit today (5th November 16) the spaghetti marinara was poor compared to previous visits. It had no sauce, was too spicy and bland. My girlfriend had the spinach and ricotta ravioli which was also bland. Not sure if there have been a change of chef or if he/she was having an off day! Would give it the benefit of the doubt so would recommend! read more

Quite a nice cafe right on the lake. The food is pretty standard cafe fare I have eaten here for years and never been disappointed. Had the pizza with the lot tonight which was just ok. The salami on it was definitely not mild. Almost wrecked the whole pizza for me. read more

Didn't inform us that there recently added pine nuts to a regular dish of choice for my boyfriend, my boyfriend had a severe reaction and they didn't take any care or precautions. When we informed the staff that he was having a reaction staff did nothing and just asked if we wanted another meal. Atrocious behaviour and severely unsafe for allergies. read more

Slow service at counter so gave a miss. Would love to try the meal some time or even a cuppa but will need to arrange more wait time. Plenty great alternate places close by for great food and fast service. read more

Has improved lately with a change of chef maybe? Pizzas are great, service is pretty fast...nice place for breakfast or a casual meal.

Pizza has really gone down hill! Where is the toppings?? Have always found that this cafe does use good ingredients but their servings are frugal even their coffee. read more
