We always meet some friendly people here where we share some beverages and beach space with. Quite a community here. Don't forget your beach parking permit; you can purchase it when you enter ($12 for the year).

We spent about 90 minutes at this park, primarily on the boardwalk. We also drove to the area along the water, where people were fishing. The road is pretty rutted and uneven. Our purpose in visiting the park was to look for migrating bird species. While I ended up photographing mostly hummingbirds, there were also orchard and Baltimore orioles, scissor-tailed flycatchers, and other migrating species to be found. There are a few shady refuges for those visiting the park, mainly along the boardwalk. One has a good seating area. This is an unheralded gem of a place to visit... and it's adjacent to another cool spot, the Texas Sealife Center, a volunteer-run rescue facility.

We drove around almost the entire island and stopped at the visitor center and got any information we could use and a map. We drove down to the beach. There is a small parking lot but, they allow you to actually drive out onto the beach. The sand is pure and the water blue and the whole area is very clean. You can bring your coolers, chairs, umbrellas and all you need in the back of your car. Then just pull out onto the beach and unload. It is a very nice place.

(In fact, Corpus Christi was quite dig friendly on the whole.) The Gulf winds bring a lot of trash onto this beach, so don't expect raked beaches of Mexico or pristine shoreline of Costa Rica. Instead, consider pitching in. The visitors center offers bags and Dumpsters. For me, an hour or two of trash pickup was fun since I'd be walking the beach anyway. There are lots of spots to choose from in the…read moreCorpus Christi area, and I haven't been to all that many, so I don't have the best informed opinion on which is "best," only that my husband and I visited this one while on our weekend getaway and found it enjoyable. For one, there's a sizeable parking lot to accommodate beachgoers. There's no parking fee! You just drive right in, park, and go enjoy the beach. Amazing! (One of the things that impressed us most on our trip was that CC must value its tourists, because we didn't have to pay for parking for any of our excursions.) In this lot there's also a pretty upscale, modern restroom. The beach itself was obviously enjoyable. There are spots for sea-fishers to put down their rods. There's some fun wildlife to admire like gulls and sandpipers. The beach ends on the north-end where a seabreak extends out into the sea for a man-made inland river/trench. We couldn't find the end to the south but eventually turned back around when we got tired of walking. The sand has a nice smooth texture and the water was a bit chilly in February, but you could still enjoy a splash. The air temperature was about ten degrees cooler than it was inland in the Bay versus out along the coast, FYI!

I paid $76.89 for 3 kids, 4 adults, 2 cold bottled waters, and a Gatorade. We could only have maximum 4 per group, so my brother got talked into playing with the kids. Hallelujah! Lol. We laughed hysterically. Had a sudden torrential downpour of rain fall on us. It lasted maybe 2 minutes. Played the entire course with no more issues and most of the slow pokes ahead of us seemed to move on or skipped ahead. There were hardly any flags placed in the holes. Do folks not know what to do? The youngsters running the place on 6.20.2025 were nice and respectful. The main downfall for me were the lone women's restroom - they just weren't all that clean and needed remodeling.

Worth every penny…read more We're visiting Padre Island from ~7 hours away, so we flew instead of driving--meaning we didn't have the option to bring our own chairs, etc from home. We tried one day of beach with just towels to sit on, no shade, and it was hard to stay very long. It got super hot and uncomfortable after just a couple hours, and I was worried about burning, so we went back to the hotel to cool off. I booked an umbrella set with 361 Blue online for the next day. It's so perfect! They checked us in, we had a great spot. The chairs are comfortable and the umbrella is really sturdy and protective. It was 1000 times more comfortable than the day before!!! Very cool with the breeze even at 100 degrees outside. I could've relaxed in that chair all day. The activities are also a big plus!! I didn't realize they had that when I booked. There's sand volleyball, cornhole, giant Connect Four, giant Jenga. My 10 yo loved the games. There were also a lot of families and kids in the same area so he had others to play with. Also great that, with an all day booking, you can leave and come back. We took a 30-min midday break for lunch knowing our great spot would still be ours when we returned. Such a fantastic experience. I will 100% do this again!!! Highly recommend.
