I had not been here for years, mostly because Big Boys are scarce. I ordered a Big Boy Combo, and my wife had Fish and Chips. I was served a sandwich that was supposed to go to the table next to me. I ate about 1/2 the sandwich and then the waitress brought me 'my' order. So I had an opportunity to sample two sandwiches, one with cheese that I asked not to be there, a second that was correct. I did not consider this a big deal. We were seated fast and waiting for food was reasonable considering the full house. I had a salad; lettuce, croutons and dressing just like at home. They no longer carry the single 'regular hamburger' that made them famous, along with the tartar sauce on it. It's a double deck now, or about twice what you might want to eat meat and bun wise. The bun seemed prone to splitting and compressing. The sandwich was OK, it had tarter sauce as requested but also some other kind sauce so I felt the burger overall was a bit over-sauced. I just wanted a basic hamburger, not so big I couldn't finish it, lettuce and tartar sauce only on it. You have to specify No Cheese carefully else you will get it. The fries were ok but not like I remember them. Big Boy fries were large and thick with a hard outer shell and soft hot potato inside. Distinctly different from some other popular fries that feature 'crispness'. Table service was rather slow to bus the tables, though everyone was working to the max, I think they were short on staff. Perhaps my nostalgia was at play in exaggerating my expectation; it's not the Big Boy I grew up with in OH and CA. The chain has served countless great meals and hopefully will keep to the original values, service and preparation of hamburgers. First and foremost this place is so iconic to our So Cal culture.. The building itself with everything inside of it is fairly intact from when it was built @1949. It's an old skool diner that's open late and offers delicious meals... (Diner items) I ordered breakfast this morning .. A breakfast sandwich with a side of hash browns.. It was nothing extraordinary... However it was cooked to perfection, served piping hot and tasted like something I would have made at home.. 3/4/26 So me and my dad met with an old co worker of ours to have lunch and catch up. When we arrived was pretty busy but not bad about 5-8min wait really was pretty quick to seated. Jana was our server and she was great. We ordered our food and I got the "Super Big Boy" combo. We all basically got Big boy combos. I hadn't had Bob's in quite a while. It was pretty good. I remember it being a little better the last time I had had but it didn't disappoint. It was still delicious and good fries. Got a Mocha shake that was really nice and creamy and great mocha flavor. All in all we really enjoyed our food and company. I'm sure I will visit again sometime when back down this way . I really like this place. It's an old school feeling attraction almost out of a movie. Ironically very close to universal studios hollywood. Workers are so nice and the vibes are great. Though I've lived in Los Angeles nearly 40 years, I've only been to Bob's a handful of times. After quite a few years, today was one of those times, and I'm really glad I decided to grab lunch at this legendary foodie fixture in Burbank. You can't beat the atmosphere; that mid-century modern design, the orange decor, the counter service and plush booths, all lovingly kept clean and shiny. The staff is uniformly friendly, and they work fast. Orders are taken quickly and the food arrives in little more than 5 minutes. These folks have been doing this a very long time, and their experience is our good fortune. I ordered the Original Big Boy Combo, because how could I not? The combo includes their Original Big Boy Burger, fries or fruit, and a salad to start. I declined the salad, as it's a very good sized portion and I knew I wasn't hungry enough to eat it all. But the folks next to me were enjoying their salads quite a bit, and they really did look very fresh and good. The namesake Big Boy is that double-stacked burger on a 3-piece bun that predates the Big Mac, and outpaces McDonald's pale imposter by leaps and bounds. Two fresh beef patties are paired with American cheese, lettuce, a touch of mayo and a nice slather of Bob's red burger relish, which adds a nice tang without having that overpowering flavor of cheap pickles. Additionally, that relish combines nicely with the mayo to create a whisper of the Thousand Island Dressing taste without the overly thick consistency of the now very ubiquitous "burger sauce" that's everywhere. This is a good, hearty burger that really satisfies, while the fries came hot, nicely salted and appropriately crisp. Now let's talk prices. This combo, which is a very generous portion of food (especially if you also eat the included salad), with a soda and tax came out to about $19.49. Around $5 more than the Big Mac combo at McDonald's -- but a far superior meal, with fresh flavors, good quality ingredients, a relaxing environment, and a friendly staff. My husband and I had not been to Bob's Big Boy in ages, so it was nice to go there again. The Yelper that I am decided to peruse all the Yelp reviews, photos and menu. The photos and a lot of the reviews really don't do it justice, but I do recommend looking at them. Some Yelp friends have written some great reviews and have included photos and I always appreciate that. After looking at the menu and the evening being a bit rainy and cool I definitely wanted to order something warm. I decided to order the open face turkey sandwich. It came with a crisp side dinner salad and that was very good. I was really happy with the turkey as well and requested all white meat which I got. The mashed potatoes, gravy and beets were delicious as well. My husband loved their chicken fried steak, so that was good. If he doesn't like the food he will never go back. Luckily we can go back again. One of our friends ordered the veggie melt and her husband ordered their famous double decker burger. They go there quite often, so they have ordered those before and they like them. We were all pretty stuffed after eating dinner, but my husband ordered the hot fudge chocolate sundae. I didn't try that, but it looked good. Our friend ordered the Bob's famous hot fudge cake. I took a bite and that was good. Watch out for your clothes with that one. This place is not around on the East Coast anymore( they closed them), or so I've not seen one since I was a kid! Walking into this place was nostalgic! The menu still has the square chocolate cake with the vanilla ice cream in the middle! My spaghetti was still the same as I can remember, so good! I've always known what Big Boys was thanks to the iconic "giant boy holding a burger with nice hair" mascot this company is known for, however I grew up in areas where these did not exist. A friend from the East Coast was in town visiting last week and wanted to come to Bob's Big Boy in Burbank, so for the first time in my life, it was on. We arrived at almost midnight on a Saturday night and the place was absolutely packed. I would of preferred sleeping, but instead I was seated at a big round bench table and handed a menu. The menu here is as "diner" as you can get with all sorts of appetizers, deserts, and entrees that make you drool just a little bit (I'm a sucker for this kind of place). I decided to order a vanilla milkshake on the side and the Fried Chicken dinner with corn, mashed potatoes, and sausage gravy poured on the top. The food came out pretty quickly and was served nice and hot, which was nice since I needed to burn my mouth just a little bit just to stay up this late. The mashed potatoes and sausage gravy? Really good. The corn? well, it's corn, so it's fine. The Fried Chicken itself was really freaking good. The meat was really juicy and the breading was great as well, making for some delicious fried chicken. Overall, Bob's Big Boy might not be something special to the world, but it certainly was a great experience for me. The restaurant itself is fun to be inside of, the waitress we had was fantastic, and the food was really good. We got a double portion Onion Rings for an appetizer, and my wife and I split the Big Boy Combo. Waters to drink. How was it? Onion Rings- Fantastic! You probably got about 20 or so onion rings, varying in sizes. Big portion and it was plenty for the 5 of us to share. Really solid onion rings! I stopped here for the first time while visiting my sister. When we pulled into the parking lot, they were actually having a classic car show, which I loved it reminded me of going to shows with my dad when I was a kid. Such a fun surprise. Growing up we spent atleast 2 Fridays a month at the Classic Carshow on Friday Night. So naturally I had to come here for a meal while I was in town visiting. I was torn between the Chili Spaghetti and their Club Sandwich. But went with the Spaghetti, it is one of my favorites, however I used to sub for corn bread, however they no longer have corn bread. No biggie. My boyfriend got their new Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich which was really good. We both got Cherry Cokes - they are much better with the cherry pumped in by hand than out of a machine. Alot is the same from the booths to the decor, there has been a few menu changes since my last time here. It's always a wonderful experience! We visit our favorite server, Janelle. Everyone is always wonderful! This is our spot for the home cooked, chill vibe. They always play great music and smiling faces every time we visit. I do have one suggestion regarding pie purchases - please buy containers that can fit the pie comfortably. Last year, we bought 4 strawberry pies for a family event and once we got to the car to load them in, one of the pies fell out of the container and right onto the asphalt. We didn't have time to grab another one so we just took the loss because we had to drive a couple of hours away and was running late. This year we bought a couple for an event and they were packaged in the largest take-away container they had and taped it shut. This ruins the crust as it's in the grooves of the container and breaks off when it's taped. My family and I had not been here in years and our recent visit left us wondering why have we not returned? The location provides one with a feeling of nostalgia as they have many of the original toys, pictures and other items dating back to the 1950's in display throughout the entire restaurant and this place is HUGE!! The food was good, its breakfast can't really mess it up. The pancakes were really good they were warm and fluffy. They had a very nice cake batter scent and flavor. However, they gave me only four half slices. More typically restaurants will give you six half slices on a french toast order. However, given the price I'm not complaining. This had that cloyingly sweet, mushy taste that boxed or supermarket apple pies do, and none of the nice acidity or slight crunch/bite to the apple that tells me it was made fresh. The fries were alright -- again, I felt they could have been crispier and with some more salt and pepper. Service also felt a bit chaotic, and while I understand short staffing, I had to ask nearly 4 times for a spoon for my apple pie. We ordered a hamburger and pork chops as our main meal. We were greeted promptly and seated quickly, not likely to happen on a weekend visit. My burger was just like days gone by, the pork Chop was over cooked as were the hash browns . Our server was quick to start a fresh order of pork chops. The second pork chop was much better and very edible! My Hamburger was good, but the plate it was served on was really too small for the fries and burger. Seems like a tourist trap than an actual restaurant. It was my dad's milestone birthday, so I wanted to treat him to a special lunch at this place. The service was very, very slow. We waited at least 30 minutes to get seated after leaving our name on the waitlist. After arriving at our seat, we waited another 15 minutes for the waiter to take our order. After leaving the order, it took an additional 30-40 minutes for the food to arrive. We spent around 2 hours at the place, from joining the waitlist to paying our bill. Also, to make matters worse, mid-way through our meal, we were rushed to pay the bill. Seriously? We waited patiently to get seated and get our food, but they couldn't wait until we finish it? This has to be one of the worst services I've had in a while. The waiter herself seemed fine, but the restaurant wasn't handling customers efficiently. They probably forgot our order somewhere down the line? Nevertheless, they should be transparent and apologize. We witnessed groups that came in 10 minutes after us get served quicker, and leave sooner. I love the retro theme and vibes, but the terrible dining experience outweighs the vibes. The first few sips tasted so good up until both of our straws got ruined and then made it hard to sip through. The chocolate shake was definitely better than my orange cream. It did say that this place was famous for their chocolate shake and it is definitely a fact. When it came to the burgers, it tasted okay. My husband wasn't really a fan of the special relish they add to the burger because it made it too sweet for him.
