It's a unique little shop, with a real "drive-thru" area, in which cars literally drive thru. We walked in to place our order. The lady taking our order was not good at all. 1. She was very slow 2. She had trouble understanding customers 3. She lacked customer service skills When your order is ready, there is an intercom that calls out your ticket number. IT IS EXTREMELY LOUD!!!! One of the very few boba places that are open late. I would not have originally thought of coming here but as it was the only place that was open and I was really craving boba, I somehow found myself ending up here. Though for the price and convenience, I don't really regret my choice too hard. Drive through only and it was very quick, the staff was very nice and allowed us to make last min modification. Verdict is if you are looking for boba and there is nothing else open at such a late hour, this place can work though I would say manage your expectations. read more

I've been coming and going to this area around Baldwin Ave for years and only recently decided to give this place a try. Let me tell you, I wish I had discovered it sooner! Boba Ave Express AKA Boba Ave 8090 is notable for having a drive-thru. I don't think the property was originally designed to accommodate a drive-thru... it almost feels like it used to be an auto body shop or a car wash. As such, only 3-4 cars can "fit" on the driveway, and anyone behind that has to line up along the curb (which feels like a collision waiting to happen), but the queue moves quickly enough, I guess. We tried the Grapefruit & Orange Green Tea, the Messy Brown Sugar Boba, and an order of popcorn chicken. The Messy Brown Sugar Boba isn't much to write home about: It's your fairly standard brown sugar boba drink (unless I'm missing something), but wow, the Grapefruit & Orange Green Tea is top notch! It's comparable to a drink of the same name at one of my other favorite tea locations, A Plus Tea House in San Gabriel. (If you've been there, you'll know how good it is.) The popcorn chicken is worth mentioning as well. Though lacking a bit of seasoning (in my opinion), the chicken pieces are huge and chunky with tons of crispy bits all around. As someone who's been a die-hard Half & Half fan (which is right next door), I'm definitely coming here from now on instead. read more

I been coming here at least 5 times in 2021 . Today , the Boba milktea tasted watered down. Extremely unhappy , I thought their tea is consistent. Waited 20 min in the driveway. They did ask me if I like the tea's SWEETNESS , for some reason i thought it would be good like last 5 times (hoping their tea was same great consistency, possibly during the day time befire 5pm, BUT IT WAS NOT). Today it tasted watered down, light colored tea , not dark brown like the other ones I've ordered. 90% watered down. Not slighty . I want to drive back to tell them but after the 20 min wait , I just want to go home after a long day at work. Great service. Expect 20 min wait in the drive thru. Boba is good . Soft and chewy woth hint of sugar. Popcorn chicken is delicious. -3 stars for quality of my drink today. I also liked that this was a drive-thru and the service was really fast. The only knock on this place was the boba itself. Some of it was soft and squishy, but some of it was also hard. I mean...this place is average. I was not thrilled that the wait time was long considering you can only order via drive thru. About more than 15 minutes for my order, which was a brown sugar milk tea (boba included). They no longer do 25% like other reviews noted, so I had to go with 50%. After waiting quite some time, I pull up at the window. I think it was $5.46, which isn't bad at all! But you get what you pay for. The tea quality is very basic, and the boba could be better in its annoyingly chewy texture and flavorless taste. It's a little too sweet but brown sugar milk tea is expected to be sweet anyways. It is very average boba. I can't comment on the food, but the portions look huge. But it doesn't look any special or different from what some other boba shops offer. I think it's a cool concept that it's drive thru esp since they open late, but the execution can be done a lot better. Ok update- I came back and tried their taro milk tea, popcorn chicken, and sweet potato fries and all were pretty great! I drove myself this time (instead of ubereats) and waited in the long sunday line. There were about 5 cars in front of me and I waited a total of 15 minutes. (3 min per car is pretty speedy)! Service: SO NICE. 10/10 to the guy who helped me at the window. He was just the sweetest, most patient, and nicest guy ever. He was super great about my complicated order and did not rush me at all. He was also wearing a mask and safely distancing at the window. Sweet Potato Fries 5/5 - crispy, soft on the inside. Fried perfectly and seasoned perfectly. Portion sizes were huge. Popcorn Chicken 5/5 - also great. Flavor was on point. Batter reminds me of Taiwan. Chicken was a tiny bit over-cooked but that's ok because they were super busy. Portions were also great. Taro Milk Tea 3.5/5 - It doesn't look like they use any added purple coloring which is great bc I hate that artificial stuff. The drink was sweet and pretty tasty overall but didn't taste like taro? It almost tasted like chocolate milk. Hm. One strange thing was that we got a small dipping sauce. I thought it was mayo but it turned out to be icing? So convenient and yummy. Randomly in the area on a weekday evening, craving boba. As I yelped for boba , a lot were about to close. I dont want the last spoon of boba or hearing the disappointment of no boba available. Saw BOBA Ave 8090 and decided to give them a try. First thing I saw was a line of cars, probably 5 cars ahead of me. It was about 8pm. I didn't want any caffeine, so I got the messy brown sugar boba milk. Wasn't greedy, got a regular size. By the time I went back on Baldwin Ave to enter the 210 fwy, I was done.. So sad. (i did go a 2nd time 2 days later and got a large. lol) I've seen this location so many times but never thought of trying. With the new signs and the convenient of drive thru, Winner! The employee who helped me twice was 2 different people, but were very nice and chipper. I get the time is tough and we don't need to be bffs, but I always try to be polite and show the people who service me that I'm thankful. I always pass by this place whenever I'm driving through Baldwin Ave and have always wondered about the quality of the boba here. This place is a fully drive-through boba place and that's what makes it unique compared other places. There was no one when we came by (compared to at night). Decided to try the peach and passion fruit green tea 50% sugar. It was pretty good size for $5.50. I got my drink pretty quickly but didn't expect chia seeds in it. The chia seeds were clumped up together so it didn't look that appetizing. There was also two slices of peach on the bottom of my drink but they were sour. Overall, not sure if I would go back here for boba but if I was craving something at night/wanted something convenient, then possibly. At least I know now how this place is. read more
