I came in here being my second time since their grand opening which was awhile back so long ago. And there's a big difference in quality. I was asking myself was there a change in ownership? It's true about their ingredients as poor, fake and having a generic lack luster flavor. This is the same place when it's grand opening but the drinks aren't meeting my expectations. I didn't take the pic of my drink thrown in the trash bc the trash can had a cover. The boba didn't have chewy-ness and sweetness, the pudding was bland- it looked the part but didn't feel like pudding like half-n-half thick pudding. It just tastes like they're cutting corners preventing to make their drinks as rich and memorable as when they first opened. But at this point. This will be my last visit, less memorable experience, an afterthought. Reviews aren't to be a negative but (if read by them) to do better. read more

Was excited to try this place since it opened just a few months ago. The space is super cute & inviting. The packaging is unique with their square bottles. Most importantly the taste: the boba was hard & didn't have the hint of sweetness I like. I ordered rose milk tea with 25% sweetness because I do like to get the sweetness from the boba. This boba spot is very spacious and clean. We tried the Tiger Box, half-sweet with light boba, and Thai Tea Slush with grass jelly. The tiger box was great and not super milky. The amount of brown sugar caramel drizzled is just what I like, as I requested it to be half-sweet. The Thai tea slush was flavorful, and a generous amount of grass jelly was added. First time coming here from their recent opening. Right from the start, definitely seeing some Instagram photo ops. The aesthetics of the interior are amazing and great for photos. The drinks also look really pretty, especially in the cute box. Now this is the important part, the drink. Honestly, not too impressed. Disagreeing with the high reviews. Not saying it's disgusting or really bad, just mediocre, hence the 2/5. The boba was actually not bad, considering it's a boba shop it met the boba standards for sweetness and chewiness. The drink and flavour though, disappointed. The flavour was a little watered down, tasted kind of artificial too honestly. It just tasted like something you can make at home if you had the syrups they use. Not anything that made me impressed or "knocked my socks off" at all. That being said, the prices for these drinks are way too overpriced. I feel like majority of the price is paying for the packaging/box itself, instead of the actual drink. What brought me here was word of mouth by friends and their packaging. Im a sucker for boba packaging and I liked the minimalist look of it. I wasn't able to find parking but theres a lot of street parking when you make a left turn after Foothill. As for the drink I ordered: I thought it was alright. I got the uji matcha latte with 75% sweetness for myself and it tasted pretty underwhelming since the matcha wasn't strong but the boba was good! The price is pretty steep too since youre also paying for packaging. What i like about the store was how brightly lit and spacious it was. Although you can't sit by and chill I can tell this could be a good study/hangout spot. Theres a few decorative walls too to get your insta worthy photo in. A new boba place opened up in Monrovia on Foothill Blvd (across the street from the plaza with Blaze and Mooyah a little past Old Town Monrovia). There are quite a few boba shops that I drove past before getting to Boba Box, but I do think the unique shape of the cups and the variety of the drink menu help set aside this new teashop. I don't think there's any parking lot, but there were a few open spots in front of the shop. The space is actually fairly large - there were several tables already inside (and bar seating) and it seemed like some of the workers were still in the process of moving some couches inside once they allow for dine-in. They also have some crisp walls and cute signage that's perfect for photo opportunities! Prices of the drink are slightly on the pricier side, but on par with other tea houses that serve specialty drinks as well. They offer smoothies, matcha/coffee series, classic teas, classic milk teas, and specialteas. Prices vary from around $5-$6.50 and toppings are all $0.50 additional. Since they're still fairly new, staff seemed to still be undergoing training. The worker helping me was super friendly and patient as I took my time to order. Black milk tea with boba $5.50 - the standard boba milk tea. Not adjusting for sugar at all, the drink was super sweet. It didn't taste bad, but my family felt that we were missing the tea flavor. There was a lot of milky-ness that masked the black tea. Boba was cooked on point though. Super chewy with the right amount of sweetness. I enjoy sweet drinks, but I would advise to adjust to around 75% sugar so that it isn't overwhelmingly sweet. Cheese foam green tea with boba and 75% sugar $6.25 - I really enjoyed this drink! I was able to try a sample of their green tea and was impressed by how refreshing it tasted - adjusting it down to 75% sugar and adding boba was pretty good but still slightly sweet. I wasn't able to get that pureness of the tea that I usually like, so I'll probably go to 50% sugar next time. But that cheese foam - super creamy and fluffy without being too heavy. I didn't mix my drink at all and chose to take a few spoonfuls of that cream ... it was really good! And the boba had just the right amount of chewiness to give the drink some added texture. Highly recommend this for next time. My friends ordered three drinks - strawberry matcha latte (adjusted to 50% sweetness and less ice) $6.50, uji green milk tea with pudding (50% sweetness and less ice) $7.00, and a honey green milk tea with boba $6.00. Unfortunately they ran out of grass jelly, so pudding was substituted. From what my friends said, the honey green milk tea at regular sweetness level was super sweet while the strawberry matcha latte was decent. They did enjoy the uji green milk tea a lot - pudding was not too sweet and pretty good quality. I feel like drinks are made to-order which is why the wait time was a little bit longer (but I did order a ton of drinks). It seems like they wait until every drink in the order is ready before calling out the order to be picked up. The colors of the tea, the cute boxed cup, and the overall aesthetics of all the drinks really make for a super Instagram-able photo. They also have a rewards program where you get 1 point per visit. Once you hit 10 points, you get $5 off. Unfortunately cup did not fit into my cup holder, so it was a challenge to make sure the drinks didn't tip over when driving home! tl;dr - Cute new boba place that opened up in Monrovia! Quality of the tea is pretty good, and the overall look of the drinks make for an even better experience. They're currently in soft opening and not offering any promotions just yet. I recommend the cheese foam tea, but I do plan on coming back to try some of their other selections! I'd give the experience a 3.5, but rounded up to a 4 since I did enjoy my drink and have high hopes for this tea joint. read more

It's pretty spacious inside and you can find street parking (or park at the various parking places in Old Town Monrovia and walk on over). I've tried their several of their drinks and my favorite is the rose milk tea, with black tea, 50% sugar, easy ice, and a $0.50 boba add-on. Their drink container is unique in that it's a boxy shape, a long rectangular container, which does not fit in my car cupholders. =/ While their drinks are good, I was not happy to find that they won't reuse their own boxy cups. They couldn't give me a good reason why (public health regulations have already allowed businesses to use customers' clean containers). Felt like a waste of a cup (I have so many at home already). Boba Box is nice to try once, but since there are other boba places that have no problems using my reusable cup, I haven't been back since then. read more

New boba spot that just opened up and they're pretty great! I've seen them around on social media and yelp, so I made the time to venture out to Monrovia to give them a try. The restaurant has a large open space, which is essential during these covid-19 times. I ordered the Wintermelon Green Milk Tea and it was refreshing for a hot day. I've rediscovered Wintermelon recently and it's been one of my go-to flavors for boba drinks. Their boba was tasty as well, soft and chewy. Their cup design is pretty fantastic as well, nice look and certainly fits their 'Box' theme! I'll need to try more of their drinks, but so far so good! This spot is hard to miss since it's right at the corner. Plenty of parking near the entrance, but you might have to parallel park. Spacious and clean, more importantly they've set up the store so that it follows social distancing practices. Potential for a lot of photo opportunities once they add more. Service is good! The cashier was friendly and patient while I ordered a few drinks to try out. Watermelon green tea was suggested to me by my friends to get first. Super refreshing especially during this summer season. I definitely tasted more tea flavor than watermelon and it's not too sweet which is great. The Strawberry Matcha Latte caught my attention because a lot of my places are hit or miss with the strawberry puree. Great ratio of matcha milk tea with strawberry; can be on the sweeter side for some but I thought it was just right. My top favorite so far is the Yoyo Green Tea. Basically if you like anything yogurt or yakult flavored, this is it! Probably my go to drink when I come back here. I tried the uji green milk tea and Oreo milk tea. I liked how chewy the boba was and it was flavored well. I really liked my uji green milk tea, it was matcha in addition to green milk tea. My daughter and I had a little miscalculation at Boba Box. My daughter and I went on Wednesday to purchase a Boba drink for her. We purchased a drink at the self-serve kiosk as you enter. This was during happy hour, which meant buy one get one free. After that, my daughter went to the counter to buy a donut with her cash. She had a loyalty card. That was fully stamped for a free drink. So she asked for another drink using her loyalty card and then got a third free drink because of the happy hour. The employee accidentally charge her for a second drink and took her loyalty card too. Which means she should've had five drinks. She only had three drinks and her donut when we left. After my wife figured all this out. I went back today, three days later on Friday. I spoke to a gentleman named Jason and explained the situation to him. He was a great guy and gave me a fully stamped loyalty card for the mistake to give to my daughter. Just one more reason why I understand why my daughter loves this place so much. Super cute and aesthetic boba shop I came across while walking through Old Town Monrovia! This spot is picture perfect for all your IG needs and is spacious inside as well. Great place to catch up with friends! The actual drink container was what caught my attention and led me into the store. The "boba box" the drinks come in is just too cute to pass up. My friend and I ordered Thai tea and milk tea with pudding. Unfortunately, the night we went, the store was all out of pudding. Bummer! Not bad...but not good. Right in the middle for me if you wanna quench your thirst but there are other boba options nearby 2 drinks cost about $14 (yikes inflation). Strawberry matcha was just ok tasting. I know matcha is just a powder but I think there mightve been too much powder for the ratio. It was kind of chalky. I usually order these less sweet elsewhere but forgot to ask for less sweetness this time. When I tried my drink it wasn't too sweet at all, which normally I wouldn't mind but I couldn't get past the chalkiness of the matcha powder. Boba was forgotten in my husband's drink even though he ordered his drink with boba. However they did not hesitate to add boba to his drink immediately. The only reason this place gets a 5 star is for Daniel's impeccable service.... And the adorable set up they have! The matcha jasmine I ordered tasted really watered down and had no matcha flavor. I was disappointed and on my way to leave a sad review, when Daniel offered to remake my drink. I was hesitant because I felt so bad but he made me a new one and I'm now obsessed. It was really good & you can tell they used fresh strawberry puree for the flavoring along with really good strong tea. He said it reminded him of my usual Starbucks Pink drink. I liked it also, but loved my drink more. Cheese foam milk tea with boba (black tea) - OMG! I am totally in love with this drink! And it makes the perfect ombre color! The tea flavor is strong but works perfectly with the cheese foam & perfectly sweet with the bobas. In love... The boba - the cup was still warm from the fresh bobas when I got it. It has a great texture, perfectly chewy & warm. I try not to mix the ice with the boba by just slowly stirring the bottom to keep the boba as warm as possible. Strawberry Smoothie with Cheese Foam - Strawberry cheesecake in drink form! One of my fave drinks ever & they make it great here! Fresh strawberries! Mango green tea is also a great choice! Love the intense flavors! The drinks are slightly more than other boba places, but for the quality & quantity, it is worth the drive & price. Plus, you get the super cute container!
