Mainly 4 stars for convenience, price, and how stuffed and hot the tacos are. The taste is decent but still not a hugee fan compared to other taco places in Austin and Houston. However, the salsas are actually spicy enough so if you're sensitive to spice, I strongly advise to skip out or get the mild maybe. Ordered breakfast tacos which are pretty decent and also tried an al pastor taco. I asked for no onions and unfortunately, it came with it. The taste wasn't bad but not great and a little dry. But you can't beat that it's open 24 hours and your food is always made on the spot so super hot. One of the better places for tacos in San Marcos, but that could be just me. Oh my...not what we hoped-Two main reasons: Salt. Grease. Beef fajita taco..so over the top salty. Grease dripping through the foil wrapped taco and the brown paper sack onto my lap in car. Barbacoa taco...Oils, Grease, drip drop drip..everywhere. If I didn't pay mind to these two factors, yes..it is tasty. But I couldn't get around it. I know it's served from a gas station c-store..but hey I'm open-minded. My most favorite streetcart taco experience so far was stationed outside a car wash.. but that place is far far away. It's likely 10 years back or so I would've prob just eaten this..or maybe not...but really, not now. Plus side-it is made fresh. It's super HOT fresh. Portions are generous. Minus- big grease/over-seasoning. Like another reviewer said on a difft taco spot...they left "feeling bad both physically and about themselves". THIS IS EXACTLY how we felt. We couldn't finish our foil wrappings. Two Stars for my excitement in first 30 seconds from Yelp reviewers and before dropping grease on my clothing. So I've been frequenting this gas station very often since I moved to San Marcos since I live so close by to it, and I noticed there never fails to be super long lines of people ordering and waiting for food here. Seriously, whether for the breakfast rush, lunch, or even super late when everyones trying to grub after leaving the clubs on the square, i noticed this place always had a steady stream of faithful customers. Now, FINALLY after a few months I decided to try it myself.. And oh.. Sweet baby Jesus.. I'm from El Paso Tx where the Mexican food is authentic as it comes and I have to say, no bullshit, these tacos remind me of home 100%. I just spent the best $6.50 of my entire life. So good, so tasty, so authentic, so much bang for your buck. That $6.50 got me 3 generous sized tacos i was not expecting, and I'm full after 2. Even just 1 is satisfying for a meal. Their salsas are also super authentic and delicious, i recommend both the red and the green. I am now a forever die hard fan of this place. I love finding the best spots to eat in towns. You know those ones that aren't advertised and aren't chains and have (usually) cheaper and better food than you could of ever thought possible. It's very rare as someone that loves food to pick a favorite, but it wasn't so hard this time. Bobcat. Quickie is by far the destination for any night snack or even meal if you're that drunk or high. Feel free to engorge yourself on the tacos, burritos or even the occasional gordita. after what you choose on the menu, you're gonna find yourself for and satisfied at just the right price. Honestly, it's not even a worry to what you choose. In terms of meat, selection or fish as you know damn well there's a reason why it's packed so late almost every weekend. It seems like everyone's preference is fit to be fed here. Besides the occasional wait due to drunk people not being able to hear their numbers being called, it's a pretty quick turnaround time especially during the day. Do yourself a favor, especially your inebriated self, a blessing by trying this place out. Bobcat Quickie is my favorite taco place in San Marcos, period. My favorites are the bacon, potato, cheese and the Shawarma/Kebab (an Arabian rotisserie wrap with chicken/beef and vegetables - only available on weekends). Never thought I would frequent a gas station for tacos, but in all seriousness, these are probably the best tacos in San Marcos, Lolita's placing a close second. The chef Miss Nico, and the folks at the counter are friendly, and informative. I would call their phone number before going, as their hours are somewhat odd. They are open from 8 pm - 2 am every day, but calling to see if the kitchen has opened never hurts! read more

I don't usually write reviews but this place is absolutely terrible. They started using fake chicken instead of their normal fajita chicken and when confronted about it they tried to blame us by saying we "ordered the wrong chicken". We ordered the burrito Arre Arre which has always come with the shredded fajita chicken and this burrito came with the gross big chunk microwave fake chicken. We tried multiple times to ask them what they could do but continued to blame us for something they did and then got very aggressive with us. Food is amazing, service is much to be desired, if you're picky, avoid. So, first of all, I really do enjoy the food itself. There isn't anything wrong with it and in fact it's really damned delicious. Herein lies the problem, the food is delicious, when its given to you as it is ordered. I have been here a number of times and half of the times my order has been so messed up that it really makes me wonder if the people in the kitchen even read the orders given to them. The most recent experience that I had, I ordered the burrito with just meat, cheese, beans, and rice. So I get the order, head home, and open my food and this bad boy is just swimming in lettuce and sour cream for whatever reason. Ok, I'm reasonable and I understand that stuff happens, I go back and explain what happened and I'm told that they'll get me a new one. Before this next bit, a reminder, my request was a burrito with chicken, rice, beans, and cheese. The lady behind the counter asks me the food is ok and shows it to me, and y'all it was perfect, I was so happy. Just wrap that bad boy up and I'll be going. She then asks me if I want lettuce on it, and I say "no thank you, I would not" and I get a verbal affirmation so we're good to go, burrito time baby! I watch as she proceeds to just drown my food in lettuce and pico. I'm talking a Mt. Everest of greenery stacked atop everything. I ask, "Did you just put lettuce on that?" and she nods. I explain, again, please no lettuce and she then proceeds to give a half measured de-lettucing of the food before handing it to me. It's then that I notice that this whole time, not only is my food with the very things I asked not to be on there, but it's a taco, not a burrito. By this point I'm exasperated and decide forget it, I don't wanna seem like a jerk by asking them to remake this for a third time. So here I am, sitting in my living room 8 dollars less and with very little if anything to show for it. I work in the food industry, and I get it, stuff can go wrong and get confusing, but this was honestly the most ridiculous thing to have ever happened to me regarding something in the service industry in recent memory. One day I might come back here, but for right now, I'm gonna pass. TL:DR This place has amazing food, but when you order something make sure you check that the cooks in the kitchen actually gave you what you ordered and didn't prepare something based off of the psychic impulses of everyone else in a 5 mile radius. read more

This review only pertains to the online ordering and customer service. The food is spot on and well worth the wait. I thought the online ordering option would remove the wait and make it even better. I had never had the burrito but have been telling my wife how great the tacos are, so we decided to both get a burrito (now I know we could have just shared one). The ordering seemed simple and easy - options to remove items, options to add items. I fill out the order accordingly - my wife can't eat cilantro or onions and sour cream upsets her stomach. These weren't options to remove, rather were options to add, therefore I did not add them to hers but do to mine. After picking up our extremely heavy bag of 2 burritos and driving to her work, she opens hers to find a lot of sour cream and a lot of Pico (so cilantro and onions that she can't have). She was upset and I was too because I really want her to love this place so that we eat there more often. I call back and explain the situation and ask if I can bring it back for a correct one. I'm told in a very friendly and assuring way "absolutely, we'll start on it right now" so I wrap mine back up to sit and wait for me, and and head back to exxon with her burrito in tow. I talk to the lady I spoke to on the phone and she tells me that the burrito COMES with these items, you just pay to add more. It says this nowhere in the ordering page, PLUS they aren't options to remove, so... How an I supposed to know that? That's a rhetorical question - no one would now that. I feel a little bad that I didn't do my in depth research on the history of burritos to know sour cream and Pico de Gallo are staples to any burrito but they're taking care of this "misunderstanding" so I'm pleased with how it's handled. I even start thinking about how I haven't even given them 5 starts on Yelp yet for some reason! Since my food isn't ready yet and it's now crazy packed, I stand there taking in the smells and open my Yelp app to amend this travesty and lack of appreciation. As I do so, I'm summoned back to the register and she tells me "actually... I'm going to have to charge you for this burrito because it's not the kitchens fault - they made it correctly." I was stunned. And quite frankly hurt and betrayed. This place I had elevated and been praising in my mind for the last 5 mins stabbed me in the back with a slightly greasy spatula. I was in a state of shock and for some reason begrudgingly pull out my wallet and fork over another $9... Now I'm awkwardly standing there... I know if I tell my wife, she'll never eat here again. I can't risk it. Then I notice my bag of sour creamy, oniony beef fajita sitting behind the register. I carefully and cautiously ask "please... Since I paid for that one already... Can I have it back? I'll eat it myself" They say no. Just kidding, of course I got it back. All in all I end up spending nearly $30 and today I get reheated sour cream and avacado for lunch, so yay me. I don't know how the relationship of kitchen to exxon goes here, but they missed a HUGE opportunity in customer service. If I'm supposed to dive in to the history of every piece of food I order before purchasing, I'll just stick to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches from home. I would have been ok even paying half the price since they do have this special piece of paper that tells you sour cream is included... But not on the site that determines the fate of your burrito.
