I had been dreaming about a Vienna Hot Dog and Italian Beef combo. I found this restaurant, but they're NOT consistent with their products and it breaks my heart. After passing this place to and from the airport and seeing comments on FaceBook, I had to try this place. Ordered my standard meal, couple of hotdogs, fries, and a drink. Since they are still not allowing eating inside, I had to eat inside my car, which wasn't to bad. The hot dogs were very tasty and the natural casing dogs had a lot of snap to them. Fresh cut fries were made perfect, not to salty and cooked to the right crispness. May next meal will be the beef, but that is something I'm not going to eat in the car. The only negatives, two dogs and a drink reached eleven dollars (I try to keep a meal like this under ten), no poppy seed buns, and no public restrooms. They made a mistake on my chicken sandwich that was delivered we called to see if they would send another sandwich or give us a refund. On my mission to find the best Italian beef sandwich in Chicagoland, I find myself at Bob-O's. Now, this place has been around for a long time. I used to work in this area ages ago but had never stopped in. I was nearby so I came over here and ordered an Italian Beef with Hot Giardinera which is how I always order this sandwich. This sandwich was hefty with the right amount of good giardinera on it. They also used good bread which is important. Beef sandwiches are just so sloppy to eat. I do not mind sloppy as long as the sandwich is good and they make a good one here. I give it a 7 on a 10 scale. That's a good score I'm normally not that generous. If you are around, check it out. Served on fresh French bread, that's as soft and fresh as you could want. Fries are fresh cut and a perfect addition to ur sandwich. They also have a great grilled chicken, get it on French bread, better than the bun they usually serve it on. Vienna brand hotdogs, loaded with all the garden on them, they also come with fries. They have awesome home made chicken soup, that is a perfect side for any sandwich. It's a small place that has mini bar stools to sit on, about 20. A funny thing about Bob-O's Hot Dogs is how the place sort of hides in plain sight. If you've been passing by without stopping, do yourself a great favor and go in sometime. The Italian Beef is very moist with a nicely seasoned, sharp meaty flavor. The Hot Dogs are Vienna, and served with Mustard, Relish, Onion, Tomato, & Pickle(Ketchup, Hot Peppers, & Celery Salt upon request). I prefer the Char Dog. It's got the incredible Vienna flavor plus the terrific char. Awesome! The Polish is delicious too; one of the best in the area. Some of the sandwiches come with a side order of Fries, but you'll want an extra order, because they are great French Fries. They are unpeeled, crispy on the outside and buttery-fluffy on the inside; certainly among the best French Fries in the area. Didnt think it was anything special. Had a char dog and cheeseburger. Both things had a good amount of veggies. So many that it was hard to find the hamburger pattie or the hot dog. Had a better char dog before, honestly didnt even taste like one. The burger pattie was real thin and didnt have much taste to it. The fries where pretty good. The hot dog came with fries but not the burger. Paid about $7.60 for everything. Would not recommend sitting inside didnt seem like they had AC. It was about 83 outside today and while waiting for my food I got really hot in there. If you want to eat there maybe at their tables outside. Since it was cooler outside than inside. Everything seems pretty fresh for a beef stand. the restaurant itself is very clean and the staff is very welcoming. 1st time customer .... I wanted to try their Italian beef since I've heard they had a very good one. I was the first customer of the day since it opens at 11am .... I was getting worried because I don't think they actually opened the doors until 11:05am. The worker said he didn't realize what time it was .... Anyway, I ordered an Italian beef sandwich dipped with sweet peppers. It was good but not great. It did not remind me of some of the better Italian beef sandwiches that I've had. The fresh cut fries were good but not great. I thought the food was going to WOW me but that was not the case. So it is worth a try if you're in the area. But I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. The place is fairly big but they have no public washrooms. They would not even allow me to use their private washroom and gave me the COVID excuse. I must say that the experience I had was way better than the last time. The store is clean and bright, and it is not busy.
