Difficult to find. Through a gate. Then down the stairs. The mystery of finding this wine bar only adds to it's incredible charm once inside. On Friday night, this place was packed to the brim with a combination of students & professionals convening for banter over a few glasses of wine. The patio was big and the only way to get a bit of a respite from the crowd; however, the patio closed around 10pm. This fact, if anything, was my only issue. What a hidden gem, and I mean literally :D, was not easy to find it lol. When we came to the backyard we sat in some restaurant and we were like wait that's not the place, for the Weinkontor you need to go down the stairs in the right corner! And woow how cool is that place, in the basement, super pretty interior, they have a terrace too, everything in candles - love love love! And yes a lot of wine, if you don't have a big knowledge about wines don't worry they will help you to choose something! And yes they served tapas but as we came after dinner I haven't try them. read more

I went here a few weeks ago for a friends leaving doo, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised (not by the fact my friend was leaving Frankfurt). I am not much of a wine drinker, I am a beer lover and boy do I love beer. I don't know the difference between a good bottle of wine and a bottle of paint striper. However, my friend being a man of the French persuasion decided to have his leaving doo here. The place opens at 6 and has a nice interior and what looks like a great outdoor space, my colleague informs me that during summer the outdoor area is covered in vines creating lovely shade. the only downside is the place inside is a tad small so its loud and cramped and tables in the main room have a bit of an odd set up. They have a nice selection of wines and very helpful staff. I tried a variety of wines ranging from cheapest one to a more expensive. I tasted a slight difference between cheap and not as cheap, but that's what happens when you don't have a wine pallet. They also offer beers, soft drinks and a range of share plates of Mediterranean starters. I would definitely recommend going here, my colleague informed in the scorching hot summer of 2015 that there was a queue forming at 6 o'clock to get a place in the garden (hard to believe this though, not because its not great, but I am not sure if Germans have managed to grasp the concept of queuing yet seems completely beyond them normally). Very nice selection of wine. But I don't understand why they use some very strange standard glasses for all kinds of wine? That lowers the experience of drinking a good glass of wine. For a simple white wine that might be ok but for a complex red wine it is a no go. The location is wonderful and I loved it right away. The service was very friendly. I also tried the cheese plate which I would not recommend. They put thin slices of cheese on lots of bread and garnish it with pretzels and crackers and peanuts. read more

Charming winebar, a bit hidden out of the way, down a stairs, great garden with nice shadow provided by vines, really nice place to go on a warm summer evening. they provide basic bar snacks cheese, salami, Flammkuchen ect. which were totally fine, there is no table service, so you must go to the bar, the wines it must be said are basic, not to expensive, not a place to go if you are looking for premium wines read more
