We were greeted by the voice of "Heidi" and a projected field of cows in the tunnel of the Skymetro. What a great welcome! We went through passport control rather smoothly. There was a line, but it moved quickly. Claiming our luggage through baggage claim went very well. On departure, we originally couldn't find the American Airlines check-in area. Fortunately, there are staff everywhere to assist you. Going through security was quick after scanning our boarding pass to enter. There's an escalator that takes you up through the DF Shop to get to the gates. That shop has automated kiosks to help with those last minute purchases. There are lots of food options and shops once you get past security. You'll get a goodbye message from "Heidi" when taking the Skymetro back to the international (E) gate. It was a very warm & worry-free experience!

Big advantage: extremely quick to pass through. Be aware: the airport is in Switzerland and if you come from Bregenz you should be prepared for Swiss immigration control. People's Vienna Airline uses Embraer jet 170 - big enough to be able to stand straight in the aisle. Overhead compartment takes small sized luggage just like in any Airbus or Boeing jet

Inside the main entrance there is a car rental kiosk (can't remember which), check in desks, and a coffee shop with a few seats. Going through secutiry, of which there are 6 stands, the staff have always been polite and the queues have always moved fast. Right opposite security is a duty free shop and gates 1-4. Gates 5-6 are upstairs with more seating and another coffee shop. There are clean toilets in all areas, including the processing area as you wait to go thorugh secutiry as you arrive in Memmingen. The airport itself is rather small, but has lots of natural light coming in, and because its small, you can very easily find what you need. The town of Memmingen can be reached by bus or taxi. A taxi on a monday afternoon cost about 10 euros.
