The worst coffe ever I had in this area, simply because the owner does not use adequate amount of coffee ground per drink. I ordered a mediam cappuccino and belive me, this old gentleman hardy put half of the scoop of ground coffee to drip. Really? You want to save money with the amont of coffe you use in yiur cappuccino or mocha etc? When I asked "is this one shot"? He claimed ut was two shots (a teaspoon size ground LOL). Then he said "4 shots in a large" . LOL, medium has one tea spoun same as large, the only difference is more cheap milk to top off! I know same story for large. Extremely low amount of ground, topped off the whole glass with cheap milk! It is very obvious that they are getting away due to lack of competition around that place. Advice to the old man: take pride of what you do for every cup of coffee. Please dont be so cheap. Even McDonalds makes better Cappuccino simply because of your inconsistent cheap effort by dispensing less grounds per cup. Surprised by the rudeness. I was here for lunch with the kids. I thought it would be quick, with only 2 tables with customers. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, another sandwich for myself, and a coffee. After repeatedly being told that my grilled cheese sandwich was the "next order", my sandwiches arrived after 20 minutes. The kids were borderline upset with hunger. I suggested to the management that maybe they give a more accurate estimate for when my sandwiches will arrive. If I was told upfront that it would take 20 minutes, then I could have gotten cookies or fruit for the kids. The owner of the place told me to "Go somewhere else." Quite surprising.... not to mention the coffee was no good. If you don't like Starbucks and Peets, there is another gem of a coffee shop only a mile away from Bodi's that starts with R*. I called ahead of time to find out if they had wifi because I needed to come in study. I came in and most of the lights were off, which I mentioned to the person taking our order. About 20 minutes later lights hadn't turned on, and I was done eating my bagel and ready to study but couldn't really see. There was natural light but not suitable for reading. I asked again about the lights, and another employee said she'd take care of it 5 minutes later, I asked again and she said her manager said they don't want to turn the lights on. What the heck? I'm never heading back and DO NOT recommend going here to study. read more

This place reminds me of highschool when my friends used to work here and 'hook' me up! (Highschool was 7-8 years ago, by the by) I always order the Snicker's Mocha soy or non fat milk, and I always order their breakfast bagel with egg, mozarella, sundried tomatoes, and extra pesto. Nice place to have a cup of coffee in castro valley. My favorite is the Almond Joy Mocha. The new owner seems to be more friendlier than the previous. Free WiFi n cable tv show. They have a couch just to relax while my kidz play at their play area. Only negative is that they have limited selection of pastries. I'm writing this review while inside the cafe, which is more like a pre-school or nursery at this hour (about 3 or 4 pm) than a cafe. Kids are running around, yelling and screaming, playing hide and seek; throwing blocks and plastic toys, and just in general making a lot of noise. I know, I'm a grump. If you're looking for a quiet and peaceful place to get some work done, afternoons at the Bodi's not what you are looking for. read more

This place is hopping in the mornings and they have very loyal customers who like to make a stop on their way to work. Coffee is delicious and they have some killer sandwiches (breakfast and lunch). It's on the opposite side of town from where I live but I still try to get there when I can - it's worth it. Only thing that I don't really like is that they only take a credit card if the amount is over $5. read more

I just went to Bodi's Java today and I must say that I'm pleasantly surprised. I ordered two lattes; one hot, one iced. I gave some pretty detailed instructions. For example, the hot latte was ordered extra hot, with 2% milk, and two equals, with one packet of equal and a stirrer on the side. The other drink was an iced latte, with whole milk and three equals. Now, I concede these aren't overly complex instructions, however, you can't imagine how many times coffee shops get my order wrong! Suffice it to say, not only did the lady behind the counter get the order right, but our coffee drinks were delish! We also ordered the peanut butter and chocolate chip cookie. The PB was wayy better than the choc chip. I don't live in Castro Valley, however next time I'm there - I'm going to Bodi's. Keep it up! read more

I absolutely love this place. Great coffee, relaxing ambiance, high speed WiFi, and very friendly staff. Also, the owner, Bora is such a sweet lady. Since I am more of a night-owl, my only complain is that I wished that this place did not close so early. Lastly, if you want to be treated well, please don't come in here with a hasty attitude. And if you can spare a dollar for tip, please do. Coming from a former food-service employee, those tips(even a couple of dollars) really makes their day and motivates them to give you beyond the best service possible. Love this place! It's so rare to find a place that serves coffee that actually tastes like coffee. The owners are very nice and maintain the business very well! I've been coming here since I was a kid and the quality has only improved over time. My father and godfather are regulars and will definitely promote this over Starbucks or Peet's. It's the ideal family business and they really focus on quality! If you like those chain coffee shops over this then I guess you prefer piss water over coffee. read more

Cute little place with a sign that reads: "Friends don't let Friends go to Starbucks " I couldn't agree more! They have a great,list of coffee drinks as well as smoothies and something called "Frosts". There is a small food menu as well that is mainly bagels with a wide variety of toppings (cheeses, meats, veggies). Everything was great except the wait. Love the iced chai. The chai alone deserves 5 stars. I would totally come here more often than go to starbucks down the road IF THEY HAD MORE EMPLOYEES. Some days its ok to wait ten minutes for a drink and bagel sandwich but the days where you need to get in and out, go to starbucks...it pains me to write that! The price for my medium chai and bagel sandwich was around $8 which at starbucks would have been around $9-$10. Another reason i would rather support Bodi's. My only complaint about the food is the Lack of selection. They do, however, offer a nice array of Toppings for their bagel Sandwiches. Lastly, the main reason for giving 3/5 is because no one greeted me when i came in and no one said anything to me while i waited at the register to Give my order for about 2 minutes. If your shop is going to make me wait 10 minutes for something their competitor would have given me in less than 5 you better say "hello, we will be with you in a minute," and i would have felt more Comfortable. Great place to enjoy some wifi over a coffee and a pastry, especially if it's right after your workout at the nearby 24 Hour Fitness. I usually find myself gravitating toward one of their chai tea lattes and a fresh berry scone (these are the moist ones with real fruit and just enough sugar without going overboard). Bodi's is one of my two regular coffee shops in Castro Valley that I'll rotate between when I want to take advantage of working in a clean, friendly coffeeshop environment. read more

Perfect! In a world of big 'bucks, customers must pay for wifi. At Bodi's you have a super clean, spacious, cafe that offers mochas, cocoas, teas and sandwiches. Can I say big fruit plate for $3.50? Love this place! Cute coffee shop with the friendliest workers:) I really like the iced spice chai, but I usually ask for only half the ice because if not it's all ice and barely any drink. The menu gets 5+ stars. The flavors are amazing. I love the breakfast bagels and pressed sandwiches. The place is large enough that you can have a quiet conversation or chat with locals. The salads are probably the best in Castro Valley. Chai tea and tea bag selection is outstanding and yummy. My only complaints are that the coffee is too strong. Bodi's is SUPER yummy! I love the atmosphere, free wifi, can't go wrong! I recommend the vanilla chai, it's a delicious flavor that I have never tasted before! It puts S-bux to shame. It's also awesome iced and blended. The iced/blended vanilla latte frost is great too. They serve very yummy food as well. The sandwich/salad combo is great with the turkey pesto. Also, the breakfast sandwich with egg, pesto and fresh tomato is scrumptious! In addition, they offer your beverages in glass mugs (if you are drinking there) and that saves all the plastic/paper, which I love! The only thing I wouldn't really recommend is the basic latte, not too impressive. read more

Great vibe for a local coffee shop, and wide selection of drinks. It's definitely kid friendly, which is a plus -- and the kid area is in the back, which allows for separation of kids/adults as well.
