This was my first time doing PT and I was very satisfied with Body Gears. The therapists spent half of my session (or more) doing manual therapy, which I truly appreciated. I liked the app they provided for home exercises that had videos and a way to log progress-good for keeping me accountable! The last time I had PT therapy was over 15 years ago, that I hyper extended my left knee when playing sports. All I remembered was someone watching me doing my exercises and gave me a knee brace when I play sports, then call it a day. I wasn't impressed with the PT, so I ended up seeing a Chiropractor who was a mixer and adjusted my knee and the rest was history. Yup still paying sports... Today, I'm looking for a special kind of Therapist that does Functional Manual Therapy, like manipulation of the body, especially related to women's health. I have PCOS and an inverted uterus. There is a Filipino Therapy called Hilot but couldn't find a certified person here in IL. Yeah like I'm really going to allow a crazy old Filipino lady (who says she's know Hilot) touching me and she doesn't speak english...totally lost in translation, no thanks that's too much stress for me to go through! I went on a blog and asked about holistic ways for my female issues, I was referred to this company which they have 3 locations. Since I'm closest to Oak Brook, I decided to check is out. I did a walk in and they happen to have an available PT to do my first consultation and can I tell you, Josephine Ymana was the best PT I have ever experienced. She has great bedside manners, she took her time explaining and answering all my questions, she listened to my problems of why I was there and she went through a full examination (how I walk, my hip flexors, how stable my core is, etc.). I already saw her twice and I feel her positive energy, helping me. She even type in notes like a journal when I was her, how I'm feeling today, what hurts, any news about my health, doctor visits, etc. If you're not a touchy feely kind of person, then you might not like this type of PT session, it's too much of the human touch here. Personally, I like it...the human touch like a hug is therapeutic to the human soul. I will definitely come back for her therapy manipulation as she noticed scar tissues of my stomach, diaphragm, bladder, and uterus. The front desk staff were also great they were able to contact my insurance and went through in detail with me of what is covered and what I would be paying out of pocket. I even had a patient who spoke to me while I was filling out my "new patient" form that she LOVES this place. She went to several PT places for years and this is the first time for her that she can actually say she's not in pain while walking (she was in a car accident). She wished she came her years go, I think they opened around 2003... This place is like a diamond in the rough, you gotta go here if you want more out of your PT experience. Don't be fooled by the stellar reviews .. they must pay for them. We took our daughter there for PT. Both the counter service and the therapy itself is low par. We went for two sessions and paid them after credit card was demanded immediately upon check in. That was odd BTW When patients are asking from a distance " Am I doing this right ? " while the tech is folding towels -- that's not health care .. We received a final bill for about $55.00 and so I politely called their service center hoping they can write that off. GiGi said NO .. I am not looking to opt out from paying. In fact, when health care is professional and quality, payment is a non issue. Stay away from this facility! I was referred to Body Gears for a recent pelvic floor injury. I've never been to any Physical Therapy prior to Body Gears and my experience with the entire staff was excellent. I was treated by both Lindsay and Katrina. They are both highly skilled with their approach to treatment. They provided me with thorough explanations (including some photos) to help clarify what I was experiencing and how to treat my pelvic floor pain. We developed my goals and discussed my current situation during every visit. They were very thorough and made sure to focus on any critical issues I had at that time. I learned a lot of new stretches/exercises related to my pain during my visits. Kelly was great! She provided her personal touch and made sure that I understood and properly performed all of my stretches/exercises. The front desk staff was also very friendly and professional. Absolutely the best physical therapy facility ever!! Went in with multiple problems ie; hip, lowerback and neck issues. In 6 weeks almost all issues have been corrected and the remaining one (neck) is now better than 80% but I have to continue to do the therapy at home for that. The Clinical director Lindsay was outstanding! She had personally provided the treatment and therapy for me and went over things step by step as she was applying the treatment. Anyway, if I had to do this over ever again, I definitely would go to Body Gear in Oakbrook again. Medicare covered all of it but even if it didn't, now that I know what they did for me, I would invest out of pocket for this. Anyway...can't recommend them enough! RJ read more

My shoulder feels amazing, no more pain and I have full range of motion!! I've suffered with a frozen shoulder for five years, I've been to 3 different providers without sufficient results then I found Body Gears. I worked mainly with Nausheen but found the other therapists to be just as skilled and professional when I worked with them. I love the app that shows me how to do the exercises when I'm at home and track my progress. Body Gears does NOT just give you a piece of paper with pictures and the hope that you will remember the correct moves. The entire staff is professional and friendly. My physical therapist was awesome. I was in a lot of pain and had limited range of motion in my right leg due to a pulled muscle in my back and leg. After 6 weeks of PT my range increased significantly and my pain level was less severe and sporadic, compared to constant daily pain. The clinic is impeccably clean. Can't say enough good things about the team at Body Gears! After years of troublesome shoulders, neck, back, etc. caused by years of work related repetitive motion, I was ready to throw in the towel. Tried several PT clinics over the years and none worked towards a full solution to getting me back in shape. Because surgery wasn't an option I wanted or could afford to take, Body Gears worked to understand my unique work environment, from the ground up to keep the pain tolerable and my body functional. It took me most of my life to get my body in this screwed up condition and I didn't except to go in and have them wave a magic wand without putting in the effort. If that's what you think, PT isn't an answer. Sure, you have to do the work prescribed during and after PT if you want to keep it but for me it was a game changer and after I started feeling and seeing the results. I knew this group was above and beyond your normal team of Physical Therapist. They are extremely educated, talented, respectful to your pains and needs. The tune up pack they offer after your completed and insurance is gone is well worth cost. I schedule one after I've had some rough working days to help alleviate any problems that might have occurred to loosen or strengthen or correct or help keep me from damaging anything else. Tore two ligaments in my left knee from a skiing accident, OUCH. Initially I was going to go to one of the big places (ATI to be exact) and I just didn't want to. I made an appt. here with Stacy and it's the best decision that I made. Initially if you have been to a big commercial place, you will be thrown off by how the size of the office and how little equipment they have, but after one day with them, you realize that it's not really a big deal. I really like how they actually work on your body instead of strapping on a machine that will massage my muscles. Every time I leave, I feel so loose and relaxed. Within a few weeks, my knee feels like it's well on it's way to heal. Everyone seems really nice here and I would recommend anyone to come here for their therapy. read more

I came to Body Gears after having knee replacement surgery at age 51. Initially, I started with another physical therapy company, but I ran into complications early on. I only saw a PT once and was handed over to a PT tech. They never touched or massaged my knee nor did they know how to deal with the scar tissue that was slowly freezing my knee. After 7 weeks, I switched to Body Gears and met with Ray Degli. From the start, Ray manually worked on my knee for a full hour, 3 times a week and helped me initially with range of motion and then strengthening. He gave me exercises that I did at home and explained how my knee works and why I needed to do what he prescribed. Ray and the Body Gears team were hands on and my recovery was steady. I'm now fully functional and able to do the things I haven't been able to do in years. Today, I finished a 40-mile bike ride and am well on my way to a complete recovery. Bob LeBeau at Body Gears was recommended by my hip surgeon. I'm 44 and an avid runner. I had a hip labral tear and arthroscopic surgery almost a year ago. I started therapy with Bob the first week after surgery and I have to say I am extremely fortunate to have been in such great hands. Bob and the team at Body Gears helped me through recovery and rebuilding. I had been to other PTs in the past for other issues and never experienced good results. But Bob changed my mind about PT. It works if you're with the right PT. Bob introduced me to dry needling too - which helped get to some of the deep tissue issues. I got to the point where I looked forward to the "hurt-so-bad, but feels-so-good" sessions. Short term pain for long term gain is what I always said. And it worked. I have had chronic neck and back pain for many years and Bob helped me with that as well. I highly recommend Bob and Body Gears. I found compassion, complete care and a group of people who were just enjoyable to be around. I was in intense therapy (3x/week) for several months during initial recovery and the team there just made it easier. They're compassionate, kind and genuine people. Beware of their billing practices. They bill thru Cora Health Services. If you're not an accountant, you'll most likely have trouble figuring out how they bill you. They don't pay attention to when you've reached your deductible and will still bill you at the level as if you didn't reach it and then "maybe" owe you money back?! When I called their billing office the gal told me that I've called in a lot about billing (yes there's a reason for this!) and that she'd send me all the paperwork so I could figure it out myself (great customer service) when I have one question about one date of service that I have proof we already paid. Check for yourself: go to the Better Business Bureau website and search for Cora Health Services. You'll find a plethora of complaints about their billing practices, too many, so it's very fishy. Ray is my therapist and I can't say enough good about him. I have never met someone so well versed about the human body. He is extremely well read in his field and is constantly going to trainings for techniques to bring to his patients. I started with Dynamic Physical Therapy approximately a year ago when I was having lower back pain. Ray immediatly diagnosed the problem after careful observation of how I stood/walked/moved. I saw him for approximately a month and since seeing him I have not had an ounce of pain. He completely fixed my problem! (I should note that it did not take the full month for the pain to dissipate - just to complete the therapy). Recently I have been having some problems with Plantar fasciitis which was affecting my workouts. I saw a podiatrist who recommended some physical therapy. I immediately got back onto Ray's schedule. After (literally) one session, I noticed a huge difference. One session! I feel so lucky to have found Dynamic Physical Therapy. If all of their staff is as knowledgeable as Ray, and I assume they are, you really can't go wrong. I highly recommend this practice. read more

I recently completed 10 weeks of PT at Body Work in Oakbrook. I was referred to them from a PT friend of mine. I had horrible back pain and was extremely limited in what I could do. I am a very physically active person and was struggling to even sit in a chair. I went to a chiropractor for several months with no real improvement. I couldn't be more pleased with the treatment and care I received. I am finally back to being able to do the things I love again. I no longer have to go to my regular chiropractic appts. I worked primarily with Lindsay. Lindsay is amazing! She is compassionate and listens to your concerns and works with you to achieve your goals. I couldn't have made the amazing progress I have made without her. I also worked with Toshi and Erica. They were great to work with as well. The entire group which includes the receptionist, technicians, etc are all extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Since my back issue will probably be ongoing, they offer a "tune up" visit if you start to feel like you are reverting back. I love knowing that this is an option. Lindsay also sent me home with a list of exercises to help me maintain my improved condition. I not only feel better but feel I have a strategy moving forward to maintain my improved condition. I came to Body Gears after being in pain for almost 9 months from an overuse injury. A few doctors all told me to just hang in there, stay off it, it just takes time. I was not getting better and being in pain with no help was depressing. After an endless Google search looking for a miracle, I was led to Bob at Body Gears. I went to the Wheaton location of Body Gears where I was treated by Brad Murison. He did an excellent job in diagnosing what my actual low back/hip pain was and treating it through manual therapy and a carefully designed exercise program. I always had many questions regarding my intermittent pain issues and he was always pulling out the Skelton, so that I could understand what my issues were stemming from. After 8yrs of chronic neck and shoulder pain, years of massage and physical therapy, trigger injections and medication to make it through a normal day, I wasn't too optimistic about another round of PT. However, Bob has given me hope that one day I might be pain free. He introduced me to dry needling. A bit like acupuncture but since I've done that and it didn't work, it's quite different. After the first session with Bob, I felt instant relief and for a longer period of time than with massage or injections. I worked with Ray Degli. I started out in a lot of pain and in a few visits my pain is very manageable. Ray taught me exercises and how to use tools I already had at home to help me manage my pain. I feel there is East meets West here and it really works. Very hands on. Not just left to do a list of exercises. Functional Manual Therapy. Very highly recommend. Won't bore you with the background details, but I found myself in so much pain that I couldn't tolerate standing for even a minute. After 4-5 days of rest/ice/ibuprofen it hadn't improved and though my doctor gave me a prescription for PT, I didn't know where to go. Between my husband, my twin daughters' sports injuries and previous issues that I've had, we've had a lot of experience with therapists in different parts of the country. We've been lucky to find some talented ones too, so we're pretty picky - but here I was at a loss as to where to go. I resorted to Yelp and Body Gears had such outstanding reviews, that I overcame my initial hesitancy as the name, etc. seemed a bit new world trendy and I was concerned that it might just be a place with new world, gluten free marketing but not solid expertise. My concerns were wrong and I am SO SO SO glad, that I came here! Freda has been my primary PT person and her careful and constant analysis as she evaluates how my body is responding, making effective treatment adjustments and then she gives me exercises to reinforce the work she has done is so effective. I had significant improvement within two treatments. When she was out of town, I saw Bob, another exceptional therapist, and later on, Freda asked him to do some 'dry needling' (almost like acupuncture) where she thought I needed it. During the 2nd treatment, I could feel an odd and strong, sensation, almost like there was an electrical current, going down into the sore area. Within 24 hours there was another dramatic decrease in the remaining pain. Between the therapy that Freda is doing, Bob's treatments and the exercises they have me doing, I have very little discomfort anymore. Even more importantly, I can tell that their focus is twofold . . . first, to identify the issue and eliminate the pain and then secondly, to build strength and stability in the weak areas to prevent the problem from recurring. I am so impressed by them and many of their support team too . . . particularly Bo, who does everything to ensure that you understand the correct techniques for the exercises so that you get the most out of your efforts! I was diagnosed with a labral hip tear (FAI) and I saw two therapists prior to coming here. Two surgeons told me I would need surgery and the recovery would be long and hard. I tried Body Gears Physical Therapy and Bob was my main therapist. I heard good things about him from a nurse practitioner. Bob worked on my hip and was hands on. What makes Body Gears different from the rest is that you are not placed on machines and ignored. The techs watch over you very carefully. The therapists are hands on and your issue is their top concern. The therapists work with you so you can become healthy. I observed other therapists and they are all very competent. Making you better is their top priority. The staff is very courteous and will always go the extra mile for you. Today, I am almost whole and I will not need the suggested surgery. My pain is barely noticeable. If I ever have an issue again, I will come to Body Gears. If you want the best physical therapy possible, the best recovery time and a place where the staff and therapists are warm and friendly, then this is the place for you. They have recently expanded too, so there are many private treatment rooms and they continuously train their staff. It is also very clean and sanitary.
