I went to BodyLogic in Long Beach for a facial and it was exactly what I needed. The space feels calm the second you walk in, and nothing is rushed. The facial itself was super relaxing, but also felt intentional, like they actually know what they're doing and why they're doing it. The neck and shoulder work alone was worth it, I didn't realize how much tension I was carrying until it was gone. My skin looked clean and glowy after, but the bigger win was how reset I felt walking out. I came to NY to visit family and friends. I had always wanted to stop in and get a massage and facial from Mary Pat's staff. I finally found the time, after a long plane flght. I dont know why I never made the time before? My massage was given by Cat who explained everything she was going to work on. I was taken on time and felt great when she was done. I then had a facial by Brittany. It was so relaxing and my skin was so soft and cleansed that I walked out glowing. I called the Healing Oasis on a Tuesday afternoon to book an appointment for Thursday morning, I have been soo stressed out lately and its been causing all my muscles to tense up and even causing me tension headaches. I had been to Healing Oasis in the past and was very happy with their service. Soo Thursday morning rolls around and I show up for my appointment, to my utter disappointment Im told that my appointment had to be canceled, and that it was an unforeseen illness with the therapist who was scheduled to give my massage. I was disappointed but understanding that these things happen sometimes, I told the receptionist at the desk that I would call to reschedule. A couple of hours later I received a phone call from Healing Oasis, they were calling to apologize again for the unexpected cancellation and then they offered me a complimentary massage to make up for the inconvenience. I was soo happy, not only was I definitely coming back for a massage but it reinforced my faith in small business ownership , it's incredibly rare that businesses nowadays truly seek to care and please their customers. I returned later Thursday evening and was treated to an outstanding hour long complimentary massage. To return the favor I took the money I had budgeted for my massage and used it to purchase my wife a gift certificate for her own massage at Healing Oasis. Everyone wins in a situation like this, Im a happy customer, the business gets an excellent review, my wife gets a gift of a massage, and Im headache free for the first time in 2 weeks. Thank you ! I went in for a 30 min. massage to help with tight muscles in my neck and two weeks later I am not only still in pain, but the massage triggered all sorts of additional pain. My masseuse decided to give me an orthopedic massage (didn't ask for it) and moved my shoulder and arm in all kinds of contorted ways. I may need to see a real orthopedist as I am in constant pain. This was my first visit and I had a GREAT massage with Mary Pat. She was really good about checking in along the way how I felt with pressure and stretches and things like that. She also really paid attention to my legs, as requested since I'm a runner, then she showed me new stretches I can do after running. The new space (as of mid-Aug 2012) is really tastefully done and it's clean and the decor is relaxing and elegant. The reason this is 4 stars and not 5 is that the walls are too thin. I could hear people talking (at what seemed to be normal volumes) as well as occasional street noise. All in all though, I thought it was pretty good value at $80 for a 60 minute Swedish massage. I am happy that I gave this place a try. I recently moved into the area and needed to find a place that offers a good massage. After much research and reading numerous reviews, I finally called to make an appointment. The receptionist who answered the phone was friendly and helped me with all of my questions. I then made an appointment to get a 30 minute Swedish Massage to be on the safe side to make my own judgment of the service. I was greeted immediately and brought into the room as well before my appointment time. I had Barbara as my massage therapist. She was the loveliest woman; during the entire massage, she talked me through the massage (not an overbearing conversation) to ensure that she focused on the areas that mattered. I'm a side sleeper and have horrible knots between my shoulder blades, and she immediately found them and worked through them without it being as painful as other massages I've received in the past. She took her time, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be back, and I hope that Barbara serves as a reflection of all the massage therapists at this location. I will be back and try the other services they offer, but the Oasis Signature Massage looks like my next best option. read more

Let me preface this review by saying that it has absolutely nothing to do with the massage experience and all to do with the front desk "staff." Upon my first visit, I wasn't so much "greeted" as I was just handed a clipboard to fill out. I figure, front desk, little girls...figures, whatever. Waiting for my therapist to arrive was fun because yay I had the pleasure of listening to inane conversation about receptionists' facebook pages!! It doesnt help that the reception area is extremely small. That, however is not my problem. Coming here, I signed up for Healing Oasis. Healing, yes. Oasis, FAIL. Fantastic massage. Can't say enough about Brian. I'm a massage therapist myself and this man has talent. I would recommend him to anyone for any medical/swedish/deep tissue work, and I'm sure he does more. Flawless technique, professional, and receptive, but unfortunately he works at Healing Oa... Lets just call it Healing Spot. It was so good (and this never happens) that I came back the next week! Which will be the last time. I was interested in adding aromatherapy onto my massage. You know, GIVE THE BUSINESS more income. I asked whoever at the front desk who responded quizzically at first then started unconvincingly rattling off what she "thought" they had. Uhh ok. She turns around, walks away without another word. One would assume possibly to check on it?? Or ask someone with a clue? The young lady comes back and sits down with her coworker at the front desk. It's like I asked her how to repair a jet engine, as opposed to the basics of a spa that really does not have an extensive menu. As a therapist who works in a spa and also has front desk and spa management experience, I kept my cool and wanted to see just HOW bad their customer service is. I did get some more information about the color of someones dress that they posted online and a wonderful cacophony of relaxing spa music mixed with the FILING OF NAILS. Every gal's dream of complete relaxation before a massage. I ignored the pubescent nonsense although and because I was infuriated. Vented to Brian who was understanding of the situation and apologized for what had happened. I went on with the massage and although it was good, I could not totally relax. All in all, I hope this situation is brought up with whoever owns this place. Hint: read the "filtered" reviews regarding management. Either way, beware of attitude, immaturity, lack of knowledge, and possibly feeling more irritated after the massage from the "receptionists" if you do plan to go. Me? Never again. They lost a weekly client because of bad customer service. read more

Haven't been to this place in a while, but I went here for 2 massages/wk for close to 2 months so I think I can definitely give a fair assessment. Hurt my back in a car accident and went here...at the time they accepted insurance. Anyway, had numerous massage therapists. Some were good, some just ok. Unfortunately, 2 incidents left a bad taste in my mouth. The owner's wife does massages and let me tell you...she is a nasty beeotch! When I got undressed and layed under the blanket, I unfortunately forgot to remove a necklace I was wearing. When she came back in, she was so nasty because I forgot to remove it...spoke to me like I was a child and went on and on!! I mean she seriously would not let it go! She acted like some major catastrophe happened! Then, she spent must have been 20 minutes of the 45 minutes massaging my head in the same areas! Did not feel good and even hurt after a while. I was pissed at myself for not telling her to move on to another area. Figured she'd rheam me out again! But just a really bad massage overall and considering she owns the place, you'd think she would be nicer and give a good massage! Other really unfortunate incident was from another massage therapist. The massage she gave was fine...unfortunately, the shop had the business cards of a chiropractor at their front desk (Leo Boraleanis) who was also in Long Beach. She recommended him to me and I decided to go. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!! ONE visit to this idiot and my neck still hurts FIVE YEARS later. Went into his place with low back pain, left with worse back pain and PERMANENT neck pain! If I didn't go to this place for massages, would've never heard of this guy and would not be in pain today! Anyway, you might get a decent massage at this place or have a bad experience as I did. The way I figure it, there are dozens of massage places, why risk going to this one! read more

I will start by saying myself and boyfriend had a great experience at Healing Oasis! I had scheduled a Swedish couples massage as a surprise birthday gift for my boyfriend, being his first massage ever I wanted him to really enjoy the experience. We were brought into a dim lit room with two heated massage beds side by side while relaxing sounds of the ocean and seagulls played in the background. Although I regretfully forget their names we had a male and female massage therapist who were absolutely fantastic. It was the best thing we could've done to relax before going to a nice dinner. On Wednesday I had an appointment with Brittany for a facial. I hadn't been for a facial in years. When I arrived at Healing Oasis (appropriately named) I was greeted by a warm and friendly receptionist, her name was Megan. Also ready to pamper me was Brittany, she showed me to a relaxing room with a heated table...heaven! Brittany was professional, informative, soothing and clearly had a mastery of her craft. My skin is still glowing and Brittany turned back the aging clock! ! Plus, I haven't felt more relaxed in a long time! Brittany also gave me great skin care tips for continued support! I was looking forward to enjoying a shiatsu massage at Healing Oasis in Long Beach but was very disappointed. I have experience receiving shiatsu, Swedish, etc. and I'm a Reiki I practitioner, familiar with other forms of energy healing work. Unfortunately, this was the worst massage I've ever had and I was prompted to write this review. Bryan, the massage therapist, admitted that he hadn't done many shiatsu massages and that should have been my cue to cancel the appointment even though he said he knew how. He touched very lightly, while the nature of shiatsu is to apply pressure -- and correctly! A quarter of the way through the massage, I stopped him and told him that I wasn't feeling good about the way he was working. He immediately switched to Swedish (an approach he obviously felt more comfortable doing) for the rest of the massage and rather roughly at first. He also pushed my knees back and at an awkward angle, after I'd told him that as a runner, my knees were especially sensitive. I didn't feel well after the massage, felt stress and actually stubbed my toe! I felt fine when I entered the spa and just went primarily to work on the muscles in my neck and shoulders. I tried to contact the owner, Susan, because I was told by the receptionist that she understood the differences between the types of massages. I called 4 times in two and a half weeks, leaving a message each time and did not receive a call back. When she did finally return my calls, I told her that I wanted to let her know that a person who doesn't know shiatsu shouldn't be practicing on people because if done incorrectly, they can do more harm to the body's energetic system than good, as evidenced by what happened to me. Not only did I want to alert her to the poor quality and harmful massage I'd just received, but wished her to consider giving me a refund or credit, considering the poor quality service. She said she would let me know. I still haven't heard from her, but I consider her lack of attention as doing very poor business. I was unhappy with one massage therapist -- might there be another at Healing Oasis who is more skilled and experienced and who could provide me with a better massage for half an hour gratis to improve the client relationship? Although I'm not new to Long Beach, I am new to the businesses here and I'm looking for someone like this in the area. At this point I'm very sad that I had to write this and have never done so before, but at the same time I was put off by both the practitioner's flippant, rather than healing attitude and lack of concern displayed by the owner. read more

I recently enjoyed the "experience" of Healing Oasis. I have been on crutches for four weeks due to a fracture and was hoping I would be able to get comfortable on the table. The deep tissue massage by Mary Pat was amazing. She managed to relieve the stress on my upper back and neck with the added bonus of a forearm and hand massage due to the pressure of using crutches. Very friendly, kind & accommodating staff as well as a clean, cozy, lovely atmosphere...I had a 90 minute deep tissue/reflexology massage w/Helena and she is just beyond FABULOUS! I've had some pretty darn good massages around the world but Helena truly topped all, no kidding. She's extremely talented, strongly skillful and really caring - you can feel the healing coming from her hands + energy as she works on you, if that makes sense. I'm beyond impressed & also so grateful - being new to the area, I decided to go to Healing Oasis because of the herniated discs in my neck/back that I've had for 7+ years that often leave me writhing in extreme pain. This was one of those weeks and I scheduled a 90 min. massage for the same evening, no problem...As my first time here, I guess I was lucky to be with Helena (but I'm sure the other masseuses are wonderful as well...). Her reflexology work was also terrific & really hit the body points that correspond w/the foot nerve endings that she worked on. It can be hard to find both skill & healing talent sometimes but you will get that here w/Helena and more.
