BOK is such a fun place to visit. I've gone there more frequently since the installation of Fabiola's mini art prints machine. Also I've gone to the building recently for some pop up events. The open house is a really fun time to visit though it's hard to manage the time to visit the entire building since it's so vast. But I love that there is a wide range of shops and businesses all in one building. It's easy to discover something new here.

South Philly's BOK combines everything I love about travel into one- history, food and architecture. Located inside an FDR-era 1936 school building is a community of artists, makers, restaurateurs and business owners, half of whom are women. After enjoying a sesame bagel with blueberry compote at nearby Korshak, I wandered over to BOK for a coffee at Two Persons Coffee, an independent cafe inside BOK. To my surprise, I wandered through the giant old school finding shops of pottery, art, etc. and the offices of small business owners. Additionally, there's a rooftop bar with a stunning view of Philly, a restaurant and Machine Shop, a woman-owned bakery worth your time.

I attended a kids birthday party down at the basement at Beehive at Bok building. The place is neat. Got a spacious room for play area and another decent size room for eating. The play area I feel is more gear towards tots and younger age kids. There is one slide, some baby and tots obstacle course equipments, some play pretend toys, etc. but no jungle gym for older kids. So if your party has more younger kids, this wouldn't be too bad of a place. My 4.7yo daughter and 9mos baby had fun. The owner leaves you with the entire facility and only come back when the party time is up. I believe this place offers summer camp for kids and they do quite alot of arts and crafts because there were plenty of art supplies organized in one of the room. Three down sides about this place: (1) You would think because this place is gear towards younger kids and even babies so the floor would be clean. Kids place usually are bare foot or with only socks on. The place looks clean but not the floor. The floor made my feet turned dark, that's how dirty is it. I hope the floor is not usually like this dirty. (2) Another down side would be parking. There is no parking lot or parking garage for you. It is street parking. And around the blocks are mostly 2hrs parking Monday thru Sunday. (3) Lastly would be you need to walk down 2 flight of stairs in order to go in. This is a kids' place so that is definitely inconvenient for those that bring strollers or people that has plenty of stuff to carry in, like for a party. I have to hold my 4yo down those stairs while my husband waited for my friend to help carry my 9mos old baby in the baby stroller down. I hope they do have another entrance that is more suitable and accessible for strollers and such.

It was our first time here as we came for a birthday party on a weekend. To my surprise, this place was very spacious and modern although it was in the basement. I love the variety of toys that they have which can accommodate you kids of different ages. The kids had fun! The bathrooms were a bit awkward but the place is pretty nice. You have to take your shoes off when you enter, yet the cubbies and shoe cases were not at the entrance but you have to walk in to the middle of the facility and turn right to a little hallway. Birthday parties are also three hours compared to two hours at other facilities. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here and will be returning for open/private play. TIP: It's street parking that is not hard to find but pay attention to the streets that are only two hours onlu

Once I walked in, immediately the room of the event was decorated nicely. The ballroom was spacious, decent sized dance floor, and a bar. This particular event had a cash bar with complimentary soft drinks. I ordered a cosmopolitan drink that was made nicely. I peeped that the bar offered casamigos too (nope lol; I drove). The food was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the lobster bisque, salmon, and potatoes! Yummy! The staff were all nice and professional. Overall, this appears to be a nice venue to have a special occasion.

I do think the parking lot didnt have too many spaces. It is probably enough space for families to have birthday parties and other small events. It felt like a 50 space lot. As i went for a job fair, there were employees that needed to park which probably took a good chunk of spaces if they did not carpool and countless attendees coming and going. The fair was only 4 hours and in my talks with them, someone mentioned they were only accepting 700 resumes that day so I imagine they were expecting alot of different people to come whether they drove or not throughout the day. Granted it took me less than an hour to speak with everyone i could, I dont think the parking was sufficient for that type of event and i had to park 2 blocks away.

One thing that really stood out was the complimentary coat and bag check, such a nice touch and made everything feel easy and well-organized. We ordered a charcuterie board to snack on. Some parts were good, like the hummus, which was smooth and flavorful. A few of the veggies, though, seemed a little less fresh than expected, like the carrots and cucumbers, which were softer and a bit dry instead of crisp. The pita was also slightly on the dry side. It might have just been an off batch, but worth noting. Service overall was very attentive. At times, dishes and drinks were cleared a bit quickly--especially while I was in the middle of playing ping pong--but it really just reflects how prompt and on-top-of-things the staff are. On the flip side, they also help collect stray ping pong balls and keep buckets refilled, which makes the whole experience much smoother and more fun. Overall, it's a great spot for a night out with friends. You're really coming here for the ping pong and the energy, and on that front, it definitely delivers.

We came recently as paying customers on a double-date and had a great time again. If you're playing ping pong you can eat and play at the same time, but it's a little awkward because there's only so much room for your food. Overall, the food was pretty good. Nothing amazing. Well, except for the grilled Korean chicken sandwich; that was the highlight. Other dishes like the fries and the burger, per my husband-- were just simply passable. The truffle fries were much better than the ones that showed up with my sandwich, which by the way I had no idea came with the dish. So, I paid for fries twice. The ambiance is cool, very instagrammable, but it is super loud. I don't know how anyone could talk to each other. Cool if you're playing ping pong and just hanging, but don't think you're going to catch up with an old friend here. Not unless they have a more subdued experience earlier in the day. We came on a Saturday night and I had to be right up on my friend to hear her.

The space is an architectural gem-- you could put nothing in it and it's still absolutely breathtaking. As for the planning process with Cescaphe, it was as easy and breezy as could be. We were planning from afar in TN so everything besides our initial venue tour was done virtually. Devan was our 'concierge' who was able to keep us on track with the timeline and provide recommendations. She was always quick to get us answers to any questions and it was nice to have a dedicated member of their team to correspond with! At the 3-month mark we were handed off to Hannah who was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! If you have the honor of working with her, consider yourself so lucky. She was so responsive and on top of things, and her calming demeanor was perfect for the day of the wedding. Her attention to detail was also incredible. I think she picked up every single little thing I said during our calls. Our maitre d' was Mu who was equally as impressive as Hannah. I don't think my husband or I had an empty glass in our hands the entire night! Which is also the reason why I only made it to the bar once to see Tim, our head bartender, but from what I heard from ALL of our guests, he was great as well. All of our guests raved about the food-- the spread for cocktail hour, the entrees, and the dessert spread. Cescaphe really does have it down to a science! The Down Town Club is located inside a very large building in Old City and takes up at least one floor. Once you're out of the elevator you are greeted by a giant glass table and a centerpiece. For the wedding, this table was used to hold the place cards, which informed you of the the table you would be seating at. Behind that table is a large hall with a few tables, a bar and some counters, which can be used to plate food and serve horderves. I suppose it could also be used as a simple waiting area. There is also a piano located i that area, which can be used to play some live music. The horderves, which were served were top notch. Some of my favorites included the lamb chops, lobster, shrimp and ravioli. I also loved how they had a full sushi bar along with some other traditional Japanese options including ahi tuna. The dinner and dessert was great as well. The dressing on the salad was very tasty and the filet minion was perfectly done. The dessert options here were out of the world. Mini-cupcakes, cannolis, funnel cake and more were all provided and they were all very delicious. The view of Independence Hall is absolutely spectacular as well. The Ball Room wasn't giant, but it easily held over 200 people without as if the room was, too crowded. The ball room was also quickly transformed from hosting the wedding ceremony towards become a place to hold a fun party. While I didn't use it, valet parking was available, which was a nice touch. Altogether, the Down Town Club is a very nice space to hold a variety of events including weddings!
