I've been back twice, once with my wife's sister, the second time was today with my parents (visiting from the States). The wait staff was nice, but not entirely competent. They forgot two dishes. The first was an appetizer and we didn't care enough to get about it. The second was a main dish so we definitely needed it. Then they forgot to bring silverware and we had to go to the bar to ask for it. Lastly when it came time to pay, we were told EC card was ok. Later, the owner (I assume) came to us and said that they ran out of paper, and we have to pay with cash. The excuse given was "Easter holiday" -- though having worked in the industry, it's not hard to plan for holidays. The food was average, the Naan was thicker than we were accustomed to - similar to flatbread. Mango lassi had green mango and was sweetened with what tasted like lichee. Also not for us. If you are alone, looking for decent Indian food, this might be the place for you. But if you're arriving in a group, or have any dietary restrictions, the forgetful wait staff could prove lethal. Thank you to Mumbai for helping me build the relationship with my now wife, but it's time we start seeing other people.

I tried the paneer kabob and the butter chicken. The paneer was beautifully plates and both dishes were incredibly flavorful and delicious, especially on the fluffy basmati rice. The sweet naan (stuffed with sweet pistachio paste) was amazing as well. The staff are so nice. The interior is nice, they light a candle at your table for you as well :)

We ate outside as it was very nice. The inside was decorated authentically and seemed very cozy. We had seen the restaurant walking by, went to get our car but when we couldn't find parking we were told where we could put the car nearby (parked illegally) in order to keep an eye on it in case someone would come to ticket (or tow) it. My pineapple curry had just the right sweet spiciness, plenty of food. The kids' curry portions were generous and they loved it. Prices were reasonable.

Came across this restaurant when visiting Jena yesterday and had the lunch special. Food is OK at…read morebest and really nothing to write home about (two stars). The third star is for the friendly and fast service. Stains on the tablecloth don't add to the eating pleasure, however. I feel bad for the people of Jena, who apparently seem to not have too much choice in terms of Indian fare. After all, the Taj of India is right in the center of town and should be much better than it actually is.

SCAM ALERT:! They say they do not have change for your cash but then take the cash and ask you to…read morepay by credit card without returning your cash. Full story: We initially left a 5 star review as the food and service was good, however, after we left our review (we were asked to do it by the waiter in the restaurant before we paid) something odd happened. We tried to pay our 600 check with a 1000 bill. The waiter came back and said he could not break it. We said fine, we'll pay by credit card. We thought it odd that he ran off with the 1000 bill again, so we thought he was going to double check if he could break it. He returned without the 1000 bill and asked us for our credit card. We asked him for the 1000 bill. We would not give him the credit card without getting our 1000 bill back. He looked surprised and ran off again. He came back with the 1000 bill and so we then paid by credit card. We thought it odd but were sort of flustered as we were trying to leave. We even asked about leaving a tip and ended up doing it via a separate credit card charge. When we got back to the hotel we discussed what happened. When they could not break the bill why did he not immediately hand it to us and take our credit card to process right away? Why did he leave and return without the bill then ask us to pay by credit card? This entire scenario seemed intentional. We were obviously tourists and if they got away with it, it would be our word against theirs, and chances are they would never see us again. So if you eat here, the food is good, the service is good, but make sure you are not scammed out of your cash. Now I'm concerned about the charge and will be following up to make sure that wasn't tampered with as well.
