Great Indian food in Milwaukee's Downtown. They have lunch buffets everyday and they are delicious. Personally I have enjoyed their buffets much better than the Ala Carte. They have about 6-8 chicken items (appetizer and main course), couple goat meat items as well as fish in their buffets. It's a great way to taste a variety of Indian delicacies at once. My personal favorites here are the fish stir fry, chicken Korma, goat curry and chicken biriyani. I would like to add that their customer service is very good as well. When I was living in Silicon Valley, I had a huge privilege unbeknownst to me, of having some truly excellent Indian/Pakistani cuisine around, and didn't REALLY appreciate it until I had moved away to Milwaukee. Then I found myself searching near and far, constantly finding bland, over sweetened ("cater to the tastes of the area" I imagine) "Indian food". It got to the point that I begged my friends to bring me frozen Tikka masala from my favorite restaurant when they would come visit...convinced Milwaukee just didn't have it. THEN I found Bollywood Grill! Their food is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and I'm finally smiling and so excited to have the food that has the spice and flavor I've craved and sought for over a year now. This was my second visit to this Indian restaurant in Milwaukee downtown. And I am so happy to mention that this place did not disappoint me at all, infact I loved it more that I did in my last visit. The restaurant was very crowded during the lunch hour for the buffet. The buffet has so many items on the bar that I think hardly any other place provides for this price which is $11 approx. The restaurant is doing an incredible job in maintaining the quality and taste of all the items that are in the bar. The buffet bar has half a dozen vegetarian varieties and around 5-6 chicken( also goat curry) items along with 4 kinds of desserts. There is a also a small salad bar and chai tea is also included. I had the chicken korma (asked them to make it spicy), the Bollywood naan, and basmati rice. I've had korma back home and it's not even in the same league as this place. This is a big improvement over Mayura, though the same owners from what I understand. Great interior, there's a big poster of Aishwarya Rai in the main room, there's no better way to decorate a place called the "Bollywood Grill." This is fancier, shinier, newer, cleaner than any other Indian location, with a nice range of selection on the buffet. I think the food plus service is still better at Royal India, and the dal and grocery choices better at Anmol, but apples and oranges (maybe mangos and papaya) because this is the best place to bring a group, have a party or event, or to have Indian cuisine downtown. I loved being able to watch Bollywood music videos while eating, it makes the food so much more fun. It's blander Northern Indian, so this is also your choice if you can handle spicier Indian food. It was a Sunday and there were not many people around. The place was pleasant with lovely Bollywood music in the background - not too loud and not too quiet- just right. My biggest disappointment in any buffet would be the absence of Veg biryani (I am a vegetarian) and I was always disappointed in other buffets. So, I was delighted to find veg biryani in the buffet. Stopped by to check grab a quick bite as a late lunch and discovered this little gem has a wonderful lunch buffet. The goat curry is wonderfully flavorful with very tender meat, with just the slightest gaminess that lamb/goat/mutton lovers love. They also serve beautiful tikka masala and a big shocker... Pani puri!! The naan is freshly made and wonderfully crisp on the outside and nice and chewy on the inside. For those chai lovers, they also have some deliciously spiced hai as part of the buffet too! What a wonderful surprise this was to find this place! I don't know what their dinner service is like or the a la carte menu items, but I found the food wonderful (and not all that spicy... ). Happy eating! Landed in Milwaukee for the National Federation of Music Club conference via Honolulu (yes, Hawaii) and my husband and I had a craving for Indian food. We visited the Milwaukee Museum where there was a festival and walked four blocks to Bollywood Grill. First thing I asked was if there was live entertainment because my husband and I love to listen to live music (mostly jazz and thought I'd ask). Since it was Sunday night, not many people went early like us but it started to fill up with families. The entertainment was on their TV screen of Bollywood music video from films and I enjoyed watching the dancing and the music is fast paced and fun. They served poppidum once you sit down to order with the sweet dark brown sauce. We ordered chicken something that started with an "s" and enjoyed it very much. It had lemon, onions and peppers (cant remember the colors so now I am color-Taste blind ). The chicken was cooked just right with enough moistness for my knife to cut into and felt it was a well done filet mignon. Thought we would try something other than chicken tikka which I think sometimes come out dry. Isn't it true, your taste buds depend on your last visit to an Indian restaurant which is not right because the vegetarian Indian restaurant in Florida has a completely different menu and taste (I am not vegetarian but Udipi in Florida serves the best vegetarian with more taste than anywhere else that I've been to) but maybe not all Indian restaurants serve this "s" spell chicken dishes The menu was extensive here and we wanted to try something new. We saw the buffet table and they said it was only for lunch that they serve buffet. In a way, too bad we missed the buffet because we can try all their specialty dishes. It was ok because we ordered two from the vegetable section. They were eggplant and other was potato. Don't remember the Indian dish names so I usually read the descriptions. I can say that their bathrooms were very clean, it was impressive rather than surprising. There was also a banquet room for large parties with a small dance floor. I was imagining all the Bollywood dancing that goes on there (I took a Bollywood dance class and it was so much fun). For dessert, I ordered the sweet balls with honey (again I don't remember the Indian names but remember the descriptions). It came out very warm, the dessert balls and have you ever had warm honey? It's delicious! I had some remaining so I took it back to the hotel so I can enjoy it for a snack or something. Overall, my Indian food experience in Milwaukee was very satisfactory. Now, back to normal American food that is just okay. I shouldn't be so negative but be open to artichoke dip with garlic bread and a salad. I had to ask for sauces and spices just to keep the memory of the Indian alive and well on my palate. read more

For the buffet price involved, this is really quite good food. Their weekend buffet had a large selection of appetizers: ranging from dosas to bhatura to pav bhaji to nan; main dishes (veg and non-veg); and desserts (at least 4 dessert items), along with masala chai. We went early but by about 12.30-1 it had gotten really crowded. All good signs for what's a relatively new restaurant. As a plus, they have a dedicated parking lot right down the street within walking distance (watch for the signs!). They change their buffet menu often, so if you're particular about dishes call them ahead. I went with a big group (we had reserved part of their backroom) and it was spacious, and even though there was another group sharing the room with us it wasn't too noisy. Highly recommend this place for group gatherings too. read more

I've had Bollywood take out a few times (and thought it was really good!) and when I was downtown with my boyfriend recently at lunch time, we decided to try the lunch buffet. Great experience.... the restaurant is nice (typical Indian restaurant), the buffet was busy but not crowded, servers brought naan and we stuffed ourselves with many delicious things. My partner loves goat, and said it was super tender and really good, and generally we liked everything we tried. There was an interesting lamb cumin dish which I hadn't had before and was really good! I think compared to my standby Indian Village in Greenfield, their food seems somewhat less greasy (which is a plus). I'd definitely come here for dinner sometime to try more. read more

I last reviewed Bollywood Grill back in 2013. 6 years later, I think it's time for an update. My wife and I visited Bollywood for their Saturday buffet. They didn't disappoint. The food tasted fresh and quite varied. The price was very reasonable for what they provided. The buffet lets you sample a variety of Indian foods and tastes to suit most palates. I especially liked their Mango sorbet which wasn't artificially sweetened like you would expect a store-bought variety to taste. We chose Bollywood on a whim but I'm glad we did. This was my first time eating at Bollywood Grill. TERRIFIC food- I tried the butter chicken, lamb mango, and tandoori chicken- all dishes were superb. The chicken was very tender and the sauces were flavorful. Service was excellent and the atmosphere took me back to traveling in India. If you like spicy food I would recommend ordering hot as i ordered medium plus and it was not very spicy- still delicious however. Everybody I was with enjoyed the food overall. The beginning was good with the starters.. However, everything after that was downhill.. We ordered paneer sizzler. When the order came out, we checked with the waiter if it was paneer, cuz it didnt look like paneer. He confirmed and assured us it is paneer. Turns out it was chicken. So much for attentive service.
