One of my close friends recommended Bon Korean Cuisine and so I came here with a couple of friends for lunch the other day. Bon is located in the same plaza as H-Mart and so they have a shared parking lot or you could walk over from Redmond Town Center which is just a block away. The inside is surprisingly large with at least twenty tables, which is bigger than most Korean restaurants that I've seen on the Eastside. At 11:45am on a Saturday, my group of three had no problem getting a table. Their menu is extensive and has all the Korean food classics including seafood pancake, soondubu (stone pot tofu soup), galbi jjim (beef stew), Toppokki, bibimbap, and cold noodles (spicy and non-spicy versions). Their entrees are around $20 each, but some larger hot pot dishes (meant for 2-3 people) can be up to $70. I ordered the BULGOGI BIBIMBAP (~$24). Unfortunately they don't serve stone pot Bibimbap here, but the portions are large and beautifully presented. My dish came with plenty of fresh vegetables- pickled carrots and cucumbers, sesame bean sprouts, daikon kimchi, lettuce, and marinated black mushrooms (which I've never had in Bibimbap before but was soooo good) on top a bed of fluffy white rice! The egg was cooked perfectly over easy and the meat was marinated well too- I do wish the dish came with more meat though. They give you your typical sweet and spicy gochujang red sauce on the side as well as white vinegar and mustard sauce for added flavor. Service was fantastic and you get complimentary hot tea and ban chan (which are refillable). The ban chan included cucumber kimchi, daikon kimchi, sesame bean sprouts, kimchi, fish cake, and sesame choy. All employees were very friendly and made you feel at home. The inside is clean, but the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is that they have an Okay health rating and not a Good or Excellent health rating. We came here for lunch and had a good time here. There was a few other groups there but it wasn't busy at all. It was quiet. It's attached to the hmart so there's a big parking lot. Foodwise: Seafood pancake: minimal batter so it's not super sturdy, but flavor is good and still crispy Bossam: meat was a little inconsistent, some was chewy but others was tender, there was plenty of veggies Banchans: there was a variety of sides such as broccoli, 2 types of Kimchi, etc Price was a little high even for the big portions in my opinion. We had Plenty of leftovers and it was enough for a second meal. What stood out was the service though. They were really nice. They checked in on us, ask us if we need refills, when we ask for to go boxes, they even ask if we want extra sauces and packed it up for us as well. We originally planned to go to another restaurant nearby, but the wait times were too long, so we ended up here. It was a cold day and soup sounded comforting. When we walked in, there was an odd smell--something like a strong disinfectant or wet rag--that the whole group noticed but couldn't quite identify. We were seated fairly quickly. The service felt a bit disorganized, though everyone was friendly--decent, but not standout. The food itself was solid: the soup was hot, the pork came out sizzling, the bibimbap portion was generous, and the pajeon was crispy with a good amount of seafood. I was pleasantly surprised by this spot! Came by on a late afternoon on 1/1 for some ddeokguk, and was happy to see that the restaurant (which was pretty big!) was almost fully-packed. Our server was super friendly, and the other staff were also very attentive during our meal. Food came out quickly and piping hot. The menu had a ton of choices - we got the seafood pajeon to share, which was wonderfully crispy and had a lot of seafood, and I got the ddeokguk with added mandu, which was a huge portion and was just a generally very heartwarming dish. Great variety and number of banchan, and the kimchi was very refreshing. I think this will be my go-to spot for Korean food in the area now! The location is super convenient with plenty of parking, though it does get busy thanks to the HMart nearby. What we ordered: - Chicken Wings: Good and crispy, just not particularly memorable. - Bossam: Incredible - tender, flavorful, and such a generous portion. - Beef Soondubu: Decent, but a little lacking in depth of flavor. - Budae Jjigae: Huge portion, but also leaned mild on flavor. I'd love to come back and try some of their grilled meats next time to see if that's where they really shine. It was extremely busy so I could have just got the wrong things! Was craving some cold noodle and we found Bon on Google. It's on the side of the building of HMart in Redmond. Luckily they had the cold noodle i wanted but their menu looked great! The staff is really nice and checked on us to make sure we were happy with the food and if we needed anything else. The ban chan was really interesting and the flavors are really good. I really enjoyed them. The cold noodles were really flavorful and really hit the spot. We also got the Seafood pancake. It is one of the better ones. Lots of seafood and veggies in the pancake. I've come here twice already and have ordered the Kalbijjim each time. I am OBSESSED! The tteok is so soft and chewy. The meat quite literally falls off the bone. It has the right amount of spice and is not too oily. Personally I like their Kalbijjim more than Daeho's! read more

I was sat immediately, it was fairly quiet, though there were several tables sat at the time. The restaurant is pretty large. it took me a minute to make my choice because everything looked so good. Upon walking in, you're welcomed by kind staff who take you to your table. The space is open, modern and spacious. The soups are standout - they taste so home-y and make you feel all cozy and warm, which is exactly what you want on a cold, dreary day. Don't skip the tteok bokki. I came on Sunday evening for Seollong tong. I loved the taste of banchan, and liked selling tong. It's good but it didn't satisfy my hunger so I ordered korean fried chicken and soju fresh. It feels like I finally felt complete. I asked for sauce for my fried chicken and it was like mix of gochujang and sweet and chili thai sauce. It was very good. I liked all of the dishes. I have been coming here lately and it really enjoy the food here. I love getting their beef soft tofu soup to go and when I was dining in, I got their cold noodle dish. I think they make the best cold noodle dish for my taste. I loved it. It had a lot of flavor to it and I will definitely go back and order it again. The beef soft tofu soup has a stronger beefy flavor to it compared to another popular soft tofu place and I love it. The pieces of the beef is also the perfect size as well and they give a generous amount. Sometime ago I had tried their galbijim. (I think it's called galbijim it's the same popular dish from daeho). It was really good! Maybe there's something with my tastes but I think Bon's galbijim is better than Daeho. That's just me though. The meat was super tender and the stew was flavorful. I was really excited to get a Seollung Tang spot in the area, especially because it's so conveniently located next to HMart with a huge parking lot and not in Federal Way. Unfortunately, I would say you probably aren't going to see the same level of quality here, but if you're really craving the fish I guess it's still nice to have an option here. The restaurant itself has a decent vibe though, high ceilings and plenty of tables. Seollung Tang (3.25/5): This should be the signature dish, but there just wasn't the depth of flavor that I was looking for. I feel as though I wanted it to be more savory and stinky(?) in the way that milky bone broths should be. And don't come for me, I already know you need to season it yourself - I'm not talking about salt levels! Haemul Pajeon (4/5): I actually enjoyed their seafood pancake, super crunchy and decently generous with their seafood. Too many carrots for my preference though; I got multiple bites that were just all carrot. Whole Fried Chicken (2.75/5): I think frying a whole chicken is just really difficult, inevitably portions will be dry and overcooked. The fry itself was decent. The place has a modern vibe compared to other Korean spots I've been to--clean, bright, and airy. Service was on good, better than what I've come to expect from many Korean restaurants. I've come here regularly since they opened since I live close by and have tried a lot of the menu. The two ajummas that work here speak Korean and English, are kind, and offer more traditional Korean service. The banchan side dishes are pretty good. The seoulongtang bone broth is solid. Not my favorite ever, but good for a place close by. Make sure to add salt and pepper to season your soup or red pepper paste if you like it spicy (have to ask for the paste). The manduguk has been hit and miss for me. I had it before when it was really good, and another time when it wasn't as good. Same with the galbitang, the last time I had it it was a bit too salty. The gamja-tang is a flavorful pork enck bone stew with potato and vegetables. It's good if you like bold flavors. Sometmes I only get one potato and I wish there was more gamja (potato) in my order. The grilled mackerel has been solid. The LA galbi was good - a bit salty but pricey. The bossan is my favorite. Sometimes the pork belly has a bit too much fat for my liking, but it's fine I just cut the extra fat off. I enjoy the freshness of the veg, the bean paste, and all the fixings that come with it. I prefer the bossan over the different ssambap (mackerel/bulgogi) which I've tried before. My favorite is the army stew, so we ordered one of those and my partner also ordered the seolleongtang soup. The food didn't take long to get and of the two, the army stew was definitely the one to get. It had a lot of great flavor from the gochuchang with all the fixin's that you love army stew for. This army stew is also a humungous size, so is meant for sharing. The seolleongtang on the other hand, is more of an individual size. My partner mentioned that it was bland, even after adding the salt and pepper and garlic. But it wasn't bad. He liked the army stew much better. Initially we thought Bon was inside the H-mart, but it is on the back side of the building with its own storefront. You'll need to walk around just past the Tours Les Jours. The interior is clean and modern. The gold serving dishes remind me of dining at a more upscale place in Korea. I ordered the mul naengmyeon (non-spicy cold noodles) and my sis ordered the bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). We also ordered the regular pajeon (green onions pancake). All were really delicious! It hit the spot on a warm day like today. The pajeon was the standout for me. It was perfectly cooked, light on the batter, and crispy in all the right places. The side dishes/banchan were up to standard. My favorite was the pickled daikon and peppers. Mat kimchi (sliced cabbage kimchi) was better than average. The kkakdugi was also good with the sweetness level just right. The braised soy potato was also good. A little too sweet for my taste though. Service was also above average. New Authentic Korean Soup stop. Among walking in the vibe feels pretty authentic. They have metal kitchenware, small karts to push food, Banchan, and even korean language throughout the air. The service was prompt and nice, multiple people checked on us to get an order in quickly. The menu is not very detailed and has even less pictures so it was a little bit of a guessing game. Although they have your typical bulgogi, seafood pancake, etc that youd expect at a Korean restaurant, they specialize in soup that ive never really seen before. There is quite a lot of broth and not like pho, or ramen, or any noodle soup ive typically had. The flavors of korean spice are prevalent and there were many unknown ingredients that if I had to guess were fungus, root vegetables, and/or glass noodles. The Banchan was three and cut a little large for my preference. The appetizers priced more expensive than some entrees, which would make me assume this place is tailored for larger parties than our table of two. I've been here a couple times now and each time I leave here very happy and feel like I just ate well like in Korean dramas. Some dishes feel pricey but when they come out the portions feel worth it along with all the ingredients in the dishes, the service has been decent for both visit. We were checked in on multiple times and if it's a dish that requires cooking they are on top of coming over to make sure it's cooked accordingly. This is definitely a family style place, they have some that are decent for individual orders but I think it's more fun to order for sharing and to try for 2-4 people. First visit: - Summer Special: Spicy Chicken Wings These aren't very spicy, it's the yangnyeom style sauce where it is sweet, tangy with like gochujang spicy flavors to it. I loved the peanuts on it and even though it's drenched in the delicious sauce the wings were still very crispy - Seolleong Tang Broth is light but you can taste the richness from all the beef bones in it, we went with the classic just to try it out and it warmed up our soul. Excited to try their other variations when winter rolls around - Bossan If you're a pork belly enjoyer, it's a must get. The cuts and the portion to all the sides were perfect, it was a great time putting together all our lettuce wraps together. If you've never had Bossan experience before, it does require you to assemble it yourself so if you're not a fan of piecing together your own food I would try their other dishes instead. 2nd Visit, we got everything from their Summer Specials menu that we were eyeballing from 1st visit. - Spicy Chicken Wings It was so good we ordered it again! Except our 2nd visit they gave us fries with the order (was a bit confused by it but we mostly wanted the wings) - Spicy Baby Octopus We actually didn't realize how big the portion was for this, def could be for 3-4 people. It is 6 stars spicy and we weren't sure if we could handle it. I will say I don't normally go for super spicy so it was a little tough at times but the heat from the spice level fades out fast when you eat other dishes with it. We liked the experience from this dish but not for people who can't handle spicy. - Ginseng Chicken Soup (Samgyetang) I loved how clean this broth was and the flavors were so natural and well put together. The Cornish hen was well prepared and stuffed with ginseng + glutinous rice - not overcooked Everything I've had so far from here feels clean, uncomplicated, traditional and especially their soups feels like it lets natural ingredients speak for themselves. Solid healthy, homey Korean cuisine. We only ordered two dishes. Some may say that the soup is lacking in flavor, but in my own opinion, I think they did the short rib soup very well. Very simple, with strong beef flavor without all the complications. This is how they do broth in Korea. You can add salt or pepper to your own preference, which is very authentic Korea restaurant.
