It is a great place to buy your mums christmas present as it does not seem to be really 'fashion led' but is does have a good range with plenty of colour (which a lot of shops dont seem to have at the moment) and the prices are reasonable. It is always quite busy but the shop is large and well mirrored so it never gives the impression of being cramped. When you look at the average shopper in here you will see that is does not attract the teenage market but is well worth a visit.

They also have a very good size range in here and I think they do up to a size 22 but I'm not sure about that. There is lots of mirrors in this shop so you can see what the clothes look like against you and the changing rooms are quite big and clean again with good mirrors in them. The staff are very helpful in here and theres are always good sales.

It generally seems to cater for woman at the upper end up middle aged towards the mature spectrum. It tends to have a hop-potch of semi-fashionable items and casual basics (you will not really find anything high fashion here) at very affordable prices. At times this store can feel a little cramped due to it's layout and it can put you off looking around, more so if you are in a wheelchair or have a pram with you. However, should you decide to look around you'll find that the staff are pleasant and helpful.

It also has some designer ranges instore such as David Emanuelle. Sizes start around size 8 and go up to size 22/24 so cater for all sizes . For larger ladies Bon Marche is one of the few outlets where they can get nice looking clothes, including business suits and formal wear at reasonable prices , they have also introduced some sporty leisure wear recently too. The plus sizes are much better value than a certain plus range store opposite.The store also has a range of accessories such as costume jewellery and even shoes and boots. There are changing rooms in the store, and they even have a magazine,a loyalty card scheme and regular stamper card offers. The store is bright and welcoming with lots of stock which changes regularly and the sales assistants will go out of their way to help.

Because there's nothing really that an average person can just pick up instantaneously and there's everything that rich, opulent and high street lovers would want! It has everything from Emporio Armani to DKNY to Tommy Hilfiger to Agent Provocateur to Bang & Olufsen and many more. The restaurants here are very high end as well, take the 'Le Petit Blanc'- a french cuisine for example. All the designer wears rest here and attract the public to their glassy and modern stores. I'm usually the one to just hang about Oldham Street, Market Street and the Arndale since my purse cannot really take the weight of the expenses that this street would put, but some day when I'm out to treat myself, this would transform from my destination window shop to destination only shop!

The jeans fit my hips but were too loose around my waist, the sweater looked daft rather than cute and kitsch and the jacket was too wide for my narrow shoulders. Suffice to say, I left French Connection feeling FCUKed off rather than elated!

This French Connection has a good range of their stock, which consists of both more casual wear as well as what is probably best described as work wear. French Connection is a great place to go if you're on a lower budget but you want something special or a bit different. The clothes are always stylish and well made and I'd also argue that a lot of their more formal wear is timelessly stylish.

Most of the women's clothes were the typical Maxi dresses and sun dresses that are in style this summer (2010), though they were cheap ones, and the men's items were mainly T-shirts and shoes but there were some other items as well. Ah, what more can be said? After a while these shops all start to seem the same. If you're looking for some cheap clothes, have a gander around here, and then move on to the samey-samey (as my husband says) shops around it.
