For me its the only place to get an outfit for an occasion - without travelling into the city centre. Only a small shop, but its kind of like the tardis - I am never ceased to be amazed how much stuff is in there. Weirdly it never feels cramped though. I say they are good for occasionwear for two reasons; 1/ The service is amazing. The small team of staff really give you one to one attention and honest helpful advice and they 'listen' rather than just trying to sell. They will also order you extra sizes or suggest good alternatives without being pushy. 2/ The prices - for me anyway - are a little high for everyday wear. Besides women's clothing they also stock shoes and accessories - they have some beautiful handbags and some lovely little nick-nacks. Right at the back is a smaller room patritioned off that caters for evening and prom dresses only. This is the place to come if you want something a bit special or unusual - they stock local designers and hand made one-offs as well as the more well known brands. Also they do offer a very reasonable alteration service should you need it. Why only 4 stars? I find the sizes do come a little on the small side - so to avoid a strop possibly try one size higher than you normally would.

Having said that the women's section seems to have better sales than the mens department. Sometimes it is worth waiting for the price to come down even further. For example, a £40 pair of jeans might get reduced to £30 but if it doens't sell well they will get reduced further in a few weeks time - sometimes up to 50% off, if not more. Staff are oevrly helpful - it does get annoying when they always ask if you need help, especially if you want to browse in peace!

They do some lovely kids clothing and I always look in store when there is a sale on and buy things to save up for birthdays! The staff are warm and friendly. The store is well lit, clean and spacious. The space makes it feel welcoming and like you have time just to browse, the staff have approached me when I have entered a few times but just to say if there is anything I need to give them a shout - which I like as it makes you feel like you can easily ask for assistance

There was an item of clothing I wanted today that they did not have in, but for some reason they could not get onto the server to check if it is in stock so the assistant told me to call back tomorrow and gave me the line number or advised me I might be able to get it online. However, leave your inhibitions at the door and go into Bella Donna, as it's a surprisingly swanky shop, with a select few rails showcasing a few luxurious garments, with a clear emphasis on quality over quantity. The shop is filled with modern, chic clothing and jewellery, all conforming to the latest trends and fashions (I'm reliably informed by my girlfriend that chunky bracelets and necklaces are 'in' at the moment, and Bella Donna certainly has these in abundance). As you'd expect, the prices are by no means the cheapest, with much of the jewellery going for around £25, although they had some very reasonably priced sale items, such as jeans for £23, and they also have an 80% clearance rail that's worth checking out if you're in the hunt for a bargain. Proof that you don't need to go into the centre of the city to find high end shops.

Stratford Road has no shortage of fabric stores that specialise in Asian unstitched outfits…read more However, there are comparatively few stores that offer readymade clothing. Aashiqui is one of the latter and has been a well-established business in the local area. It specialises in bright and "bulky" fashion, by which I mean the embroidery is quite garish and bold with plastic stonework, which I am not a fan of. I felt their clothing was overpriced for the lack of quality in fabric and detail. The clothes look very generic and lack style. They sell sarees, lenghas, salwar suits and some trouser suits. It's a family business so there's an informal style to their customer service. They are very accommodating and helpful. If you mention what you're looking for and your budget, they'll point you in the right direction without up-selling higher priced items.
