Hmm I've only been to the Bonchon locations in NY, so I was excited to run across one in NJ. I ordered the drumsticks with soy garlic sauce which is always fun as it is both crunchy, flavorful, a little sweet. The location is pretty easy to find and has accessible parking. The inside looks clean and well managed with several tables for the dine in option. The individual who took our order was attentive and provided us with great customer service. I look forward to returning and ordering the exact same meal, because why not. read more

Bonchon was always my go to spot for Soy Garlic Chicken wings but I have tried others and it's always good to keep choices around! No hate for bonchon, place is good as well as the food but there are other places that sell bigger pieces of chicken wings and the same food for cheaper as well. Food: 7.5/10 food is good but wish the serving was a bit more generous especially for the price. Recently ordered the wings and bulgogi fried rice. Flavor never disappoints but wings are just really small compared to other spots as well as only receiving fried rice about being barely halfway full of the to go container. read more

WOW this place is nothing like I have back home in San Gabriel CA. There in CA there is always a wait for good reason delicious fresh food, a great selection of beer on tap with full table service. This place in Lodi, NJ is a KFC with an exotic menu. So sad that NJ can't experience the awesomeness of a California Bonchon. Just as good as any Bonchon I've been to - at least food wise. This location is a bit on the small side and doesn't have much seating, but the food is on par with any Bonchon I've ordered from. My wife and I decided to order Bonchon for Super Bowl Sunday and we were so glad that we did. Of course their menu is built around their signature fried chicken and that was excellent, but we also ordered the Pork Buns and Korean Tacos with Bulgogi and they were shockingly, to us, the stars of our meal. First, the fried chicken. We ordered a 10 wings + 5 drums combo and that was just enough for us for 2 meals. Sometimes it's kind of a hit or miss when you do takeout for fried chicken since the chicken might lose its crispiness, but when we dug in, the chicken was crispy like it just came out of the frier! Still fried to perfection. OK, so most people are familiar with how good the chicken is, but the Pork Buns and Korean Tacos were soooooo good. Both the Pork Buns and Tacos were topped with coleslaw and spicy mayo and they were absolutely DELICIOUS. Honestly, we wish we had one more of each because there were only 3 of each, so we had to share 1 for both - womp, womp. Today i placed ordered and there was a few issue: 1. I was not given a reciept when I picked up 2. My credit card was charged for an order of fries. I was told and assured that the fries will not be charged since the fries was from a past ordered when they forgot to add fries to my order. 3. I got two calls later in the evening asking for payment for an order that I didn't place or pickup. I started trying Bonchon towards the end of June. Started one night when we went to Pennsylvania with friends, and eventually we came to this location. The staff is friendly and consistent and does our orders correctly. I rarely eat fried chicken, but one day I wanted to try it because my husband talks about how delicious Bonchon is. I always order a Bonchon Chicken wrap, no onions and spicy mayo. It is delicious, the avocado with the fried chicken and crisp lettuce in the wrap is so good. I can't handle spice, and onions I rather spare the taste. My husband enjoys the combo meal with the soy garlic, the vegetables in vinegar mixed and rice are on the side. I came here for during lunch. I was pleased to see that they have a special lunch menu. I have gotten the bi bim bop spicy chicken meal once before. It was a little good but a little too many unique flavors I wasn't accustomed to. But I came back and was pleased with the other menu items. This time, I got the boneless wings. They were topped with the Korean BBQ sauce and the spicy sauce. The spicy definitely had a kick to it! The Korean BBQ was a sweet and spicy medley, too. These aren't your run of the mill tenders. These were juicy and tender white meat. The lunch wings come with a side as well. I opted to get the fries. They were crispy and tender. We also ordered the spicy chicken fried rice. We order from here periodically, and generally enjoy their food, so I've given them 3 nostalgic stars, but this time the strips were a third the size they used to be. They still cost $30 for a 20-piece, of course, but instead of a nice piece of chicken, you get a finger size strip. Ordered take out (pick up from establishment) on 06/12/2020. Ordered bul-dak, takoyaki, and bulgogi bimbimbap. Easy to order over the phone, short wait, about twenty minutes to get the food. Once inside there was only one customer, so wait time to get my bag of food wasn't long. Portion size was pretty good, enough food to get two meals out of both including the appetizer. The food tasted pretty good for fast food Korean. Price point is ok too, not too pricey; two meals, an appetizer, and two sodas for $40. However, I can get a great sit down Korean dinner for that as well. It's just bul-dak is hard to come by around these parts. So, why the two stars? Currently, the state EO mandates masks are required inside; cashier had his mask beneath his nose, and the kitchen staff weren't wearing any. How do I know whether or not anyone here sneezed on their hands or my food, or wiped their body fluids on the containers or bags? People can disagree all they want about masks, but if restaurants want to restore confidence then staff should follow the EO. If the people here take no consideration in customer comfort and possible health issues then I really see no reason to ever purchase food from here again. My wife and I frequently drive by this place and we decided to try it, I mean who doesn't love chicken? Well...Vegetarians don't lol Interior atmosphere is clean and cozy, the bathroom is spotless. For appetizer we decided on Takoyaki which is fried Octopus inside a golden crispy ball covered in Japanese Mayonnaise and Katsu sauce with sprinkles of Bonito flakes. We received plenty of Takoyakis, they were perfectly crispy on the outside and the Octopus were tender on the inside, the sauce and flakes gave it extra flavor. We decided to share our entrees we both ordered the Medium Combo, which is 10 Chicken Wings and 5 Chicken Drumsticks. We decided to go half & half for the sauces. Our wings were Spicy and Drumsticks were Soy Garlic. Both were crispy, even with the sauce. The wings were very spicy, so much so, that it made me tear up a bit lol I had to get a Calpico drink (Yogurt base drink) to soothe my palate... My wife couldn't handle the heat at all! But that's the way I like my spicy chicken, on fire!. The drumsticks were so tasty and full of garlic flavor. Then we got the Bulgogi Bibimbap which is beef, rice, quinoa, vegetables and red pepper paste. She enjoyed this dish so much, she said that it the be7ef was tender and delicious, the vegetables were cooked properly, the quinoa was soft. One of my new favorites, Awesome Korean Fried Chicken! We ordered the Chicken Drums in all 3 flavors of Spicy, Soy Garlic and Sweet Crunch with a side of Coleslaw, and Pork Fried Potstickers 1/2 Spicy Sauce and 1/2 Soy Garlic. Our food came out quick, hot and exactly as ordered, it was delicious. Aside from Chicken they offer a variety of Asian/Korean dishes, for a fast food place the menu is pretty extensive. I'm looking forward to trying more of their offerings. They've just opened and are operating on modified Soft Opening hours until the New Year so make sure they're open before you head over. But the only reason this place is missing the one star is because when I order through ubereats they always forget a sauce or give me the wrong sauce. Sauce is extremely important to me. If you haven't tried Korean Fried Chicken before, I highly recommend Bonchon. You can't go wrong with the spicy wings and drums combo. They have quite an extensive menu now compared to the early days when I used to eat at one of their first locations near the theater district. They have a lot of classic Korean dishes on the menu like Kimchi, Chicken Katsu, Tteakbokki, Bull Dak, Japchae, Bulgogi, Bibimbap and Udon Noodle Soup as well as some American classics like French Fries and Onion Rings. I tried the Bulgogi Fried Rice and it was perfect! Steaming hot with lots of fatty thinly shredded beef stir fried along with rice, eggs and vegetables in a sweet and savory sauce. Garnished with plenty of sesame seeds, green onions and a few cucumber slices. Portion size was substantial and filling - I could only get through half and saved the other half for dinner. More than made up for the gruff attitude of the cashier. It's more of a take out joint from what I could gather though there were a few people eating lol at another table while I was there. This spot is a hidden gen for sure. I ordered the chicken with fried rice and was so impressed by how good their chicken and rice were. It tasted like it was freshly made just for me. Poorly managed location. Avoid ordering for big event days like Superbowl Sunday! We made 2 separate orders for 2 families (1 for lunch and 1 for dinner) and it was a stark contrast in terms of prep time and quality. They could not handle the volume for the day and the poor workers were getting yelled at by other customers even though it was likely the managers who refused to stop taking new orders when they couldn't handle the volume. We ordered through their website but it was 2 hours wait from the time their website said the food would be ready (2.5 hours from when we ordered) for a small order of wings, fries and onion rings. They did offer to refund but kept saying our order is on the list. So ultimately we decided to wait. The spicy wings were way too spicy, which I didn't experience at other locations in the city. Be prepared to have your mouth be on fire even after your meal. Be sure to check your food before leaving the store. We ordered seasoned zucchini fries and ended up with very salty fried pickles that probably came out of a jar originally. The only saving grace were the onion rings. But they don't include ketchup (you probably have to ask for it). They were so overwhelmed, there was nobody to ask. read more

This Bonchon is the best in the area! The food is always fresh, warm, and the employees are friendly. It's a little inconvenient to exit, but it's worth it! I have a 15 minute drive back home, and the food is still hot when I get home. Their entrees are actually very good. I tried the lunch special buldak without cheese, and it was spicy and fabulous! $10 for buldak and rice that I had for 2 meals. The lunch menu is M-F from 11-3 and comes in as a decent value. Decided to try this place, and placed an order online on Super Bowl Sunday. Went to pick up the order at the scheduled time, and after waiting 25mins, was told the order wouldn't be ready for another 30mins. Unacceptable! If you can't handle the order, stop taking orders! Which they kept doing. The only orders they were filling seemed to be big Uber Eats orders, and the remainder of the 15+ people waiting at the store were expected to wait. Needless to say, after being told we'd have to wait an additional 30mins, many of us had them cancel the order and we all walked out. One guy said he placed his order a week in advance and that didn't seem to matter to the manager. Unorganized and poor customer service! This location is one of the newer locations in the area. It recently opened a few moths ago, and I wanted to give it a try. I've been to bonchons before, but each one is a little different. I ordered my typical order --small chicken strips spicy and potstickers spicy. Ordering it and dining in is the way to go. The food was still hot and the flavors weren't fully absorbed into chicken or potstickers yet so you can taste the sauces. They were both perfectly crunchy. This spicy is my opinion it very very spicy but it's delicious! Bonchon has a different type of hot spicy taste to their sauce; it's not like your typical hot sauce. This Bonchon is located in a small strip mall off is Essex street in Lodi. What's really disappointing about this location is it's size. It's a small location and when it's busy it's definitely hard to find a place to sit and eat comfortably. There's no specific waiting area or people waiting for take out. Everyone just sits and occupies seating that's meant for customer who are dining in. Dining in is cramped because the tables are all on top of each other.
