I love Bonchon. My first exposure of it was at the Glenview location. The Schaumburg location was great too. I went with the soy ginger boneless chicken strips and as expected, the chicken was seasoned and fried to a perfect crisp. Phenomenal. We had a party of 15 and the staff was super accommodating a took care of us. Food came out at a timely manner and everything was great. Besides the chicken, we also ordered fries, onion rings, potstickers, and some sliders. The sliders you had a choice of ribeye or chicken, and we went with the chicken. It was decent, but I felt like there was more bread than meat ratio. The onion rings were surprisingly good too. I wasn't too much of a fan with the potstickers, as I felt like it was too crispy for my liking. Eight potstickers came in one order. Overall, still a great spot to dine at. So happy to see more Bonchon Chicken locations popping up in the Chicagoland area. read more

Good food - but they had hard time keeping up for Super Bowl rush of orders. I placed my order around 3pm online for a 4:45pm pickup. Arrived at 4:40pm, order was not ready - along with a lot of other people. I felt bad for the one customer service person in front trying to manage everyone coming in, phone orders, and checking in back for order status. They ran out of drumsticks, so they substituted for all wings with my order (they asked & I okayed it). Time left with food: 5:23pm. Food was really good & fresh in spite of the wait. I would go again; but hoping they have enough ingredients & staff for another big order day. Edit: the next day, I got a $10 credit on my order. No explanation, but I'm guessing it's either due to the extended wait time and/or they ran out of drumsticks. I thought that was nice to give partial credit, even though I didn't ask for it. I went twice within two weeks because simply I really love it there. I've been coming to this specific location for about a year now and the last two experiences I had weren't worth what I had payed for. (I have spent over $150 between both trips.) The first lunch I went with my brothers, the gentlemen just didn't seem the hear our order correctly and got this wrong. Forgot our radish. And brought our drinks to the very end (when all our food was done. He took forever) and still had the nerve to charge me for the drinks. I went during happy hour but on top of that they didn't even have strips that day. I decided to take my brothers and two cousins for lunch and somethings still came out wrong again. It's nice and convenient that they opened up a location in Schaumburg so I don't have to go all the way to Chinatown just for this. This location is bigger as well so that's nice. The food here is good, although I feel that the wings are smaller than the other location. I have ordered for take out a couple times before, but today was the first time that I dined in. The wings: We ordered the medium wings with soy garlic and spicy. Flavors were definitely there, and I felt like I felt more heat with spicy at the other location when this location was just hit with a hint of spice. Although the wings were definitely crunchy. Overall it was okay, not bad. Bulgogi Korean Tacos: It was pretty good. The sauce and everything in the taco went well together. Maybe something can be added to the taco shell. I was pretty disappointed with this bonchon location compare to the ones I've been to (Chinatown & Glenview). The service here was decent but our waitress didn't even come check up on us once the food had arrived and all the workers were sitting in the corner talking to each other. The waitress didn't even know which side was spicy and which side was soy garlic. The fries were delicious and the chicken was great. We had received 4 baby drumstick which we thought was a rip off so when we called the waitress she claim it was part of the wings. Wtf! No one on the menu does it say, wings come with baby tiny drumstick. When I went the other bonchon restaurant, I never seen such baby drumsticks. THE BEST CHICKEN EVER. As in, we made almost a 40 minute drive for this chicken!!! Super crispy and so so tasty, this chicken will really make your tastebuds go crazy. I highly recommend getting the Soy Garlic flavor! We usually order the combo but recently we ordered the 30 wings and I prefer the flavor more that comes from the wings. Is it a little pricey? Yes. The large came about $40 with tax. Is it worth it? A million times over. I kid you not, we grabbed a medium for ourselves to share and then explored the rest of the area. I kept hearing really good things about this place. I got the chicken strips because my waiter told me they were his favorite. They are battered strips and I was not the biggest fan of them. The people i went with got the 'Chicken Katsu' lunch special and it looked so good. I will definitely give this place another try and get that next time. Only indoor seating. Not an extensive drink list. The chairs here are really uncomfortable, I would sit on the side that has the booth-like setup. Very fast service and the spicy mayo was fire . Since it was so horribly stormy outside, I decided to eat as much of my takeout order inside the restaurant, as I could, until the thunderstorm subsided! I would order from Bonchon all the time because I just LOVED the crispiness of their fries and the size of their chicken strips. Well, it is clear that sometime in 2021 (I ordered on March 13, 2021), Bonchon has took a turn for the worst. Before, their fries were so crispy and seasoned to perfection. But now, their fries are total trash, and I hardly use that word to describe food. The fries are completely wet, soggy, cold, and in one word -- inedible. I am extremely disappointed in how their quality of food has taken a turn for the worst. I would also order their chicken strips -- I believe it's their soy garlic (?) flavor. Well, the chicken strips are no longer the same. Not only are they very small (and more like nuggets than strips), but they are no longer crispy. Just like the fries, the chicken came cold (they would always be scorching hot), wet, and soggy. This is so disappointing. This was one of the best restaurants that offered an Asian/Korean style of chicken/cooking. It is clear that something recently has happened to this company to have them serve smaller and inedible portions. I took one bite of my fries and had to throw the entire container in the trash. The side of pickled radish is also obviously smaller and no pickled radish juice was available, so the radish came dry. The sad part however is that the pickled radish--although dry--is the only edible part of the meal---THE SIDE DISH. Pathetic. This is such a disappointment. This was one of the restaurants I could depend on for their fries/chicken strips. I will no longer purchase from this restaurant. They need to return back to how they cooked and prepared their food. If they don't return back to how they cooked their meals, I can guarantee that they will lose all of their customers. Newer customers will not want to purchase from them again either. Trendy new spot that puts a spin on Korean food. This place is located in a strip mall across from Michaels, with ample amount of parking. The restaurant is set up nicely with a small bar and lots of tables. It is very clean and decorated minimal in a good way. They have a decent size menu with all kinds of different options. They are known specifically for their chicken wings so you know I had to try them and they were delicious. One of my favorite things I tried was the pork buns. It was so light and full of flavor as well as texture. The service was was awesome and the food came out really quick which makes it a great spot for lunch. Great chicken all the way around! Always comes to the table piping hot. Onion rings for starters are delicious! The zucchini strips are actually chip style and are made fresh. Be sure to order the spicy mayo with them vs the ketchup. Chicken orders both soy garlic and spicy are delicious. The chicken tenders dinner is a very large portion and comes with side choice. Fried rice is good and they do give a nice portion of meat (chicken, beef) but they need to add a little color with carrot and green onion. Food is always served piping hot. The portion size has halved- at least. The strips looked like chicken nuggets rather than the big strips they used to be and there was absolutely no sauce on any of them, what happened to being able to distinguish their spicy chicken from their soy garlic? This restaurant is hip and modern in its design and fusion food concept. They have decent service, and we were pretty quickly seated on a Saturday evening around 6:30pm. I'd been here once before, and the food was pretty good. My favorite dish the first visit was probably the Bul Daak, which is a super spicy chicken stir fried with some vegetables and rice cake. It comes with a side of white rice, and it tastes phenomenal when you mix the chicken with the rice. The wings and the drumsticks were generally good too. Although I like spicy food, the spicy wings were subpar and don't have a real kick, so I enjoyed the soy garlic marinade the best. It's a decent place for groups, and a fun place to try if you're feeling a little adventurous. It's also a great place for a unique take on Korean fried chicken. read more

The fried rice portion could have been bigger or cheaper than the $13. My wife very much enjoyed the pork belly bao and enjoyed the freshness of the slaw and the crisp cucumber that came with each bite of the pork belly. The skin on the chicken is very distinct to Bonchon. All the wings and drumsticks had a good crunch as well as tenderness in the meat. The sweetness of the sweet crunch gave the wings a nice flavor. The soy garlic was very garlic-y if you like that. I probably could have eaten double the wings we had, however didn't feel like $24 for the medium combo was worth it.
