I spray Nuits de NoHo on my neck and I smell so good I almost can't take it :P This is definitely a fancy pants store, and the employees certainly act like it, but they don't make me feel like some sort of inferior species while doing so. I'm a "Wall Street" woman who also loves "New York". I haven't been to the store, but discovered the "candies" in a gift bag. In San Francisco, we can find Bond at Sacks...so off I went and oh was I in for a treat. I had no idea. After using the candy selection to test each frangrance over a month I've found the two for me. What I didn't realize is that they are unisex with more masculine "Harlem" and more feminine "Chelsea Flowers". "Little Italy" smells like oranges and "Chinatown" like face powder. This store was wonderful. Carnez was great and helped me find the perfect perfume based on the Bond perfumes I already had. I didn't have to spend a lot of time smelling different scents that were not close to what I preferred. The manager was also amazing. I love Bond No. 9 scents, just because they are so unique and there is a lot of variety. Seriously something for everybody. I love the concept of naming them after different New York neighborhoods, and the packaging has a very creative design concept. I had a great experience with the service here. I forget the employee's name, but she was patient, listened to what I liked, and made good suggestions. After my purchase, I received packages in the mail with free samples. This is a great idea, as it is fun to get packages, and it's a smart way to market the new fragrances. I can't see going anywhere else. read more

Chances are, if you go to Bond No. 9, you will smell a lot of nice fragrances and find something you like. The bottled scents are named after neighborhoods in New York. It's a bit gimmicky and I've got to wonder how they assigned smells to neighborhoods. My issue with Bond is that nothing there is really that original and the smells are all very ho-hum. I have yet to buy anything here because I have yet to find anything I love... or hate for that matter. There are plenty of perfume shops in NYC that will challenge and reward your nose. This not quite one of them. That said, you can find nice perfume here. If you want exquisite, look elsewhere. read more

After sampling 3 different bon bons (all of their perfume samples are packaged in different colored foil wrap), I decided to purchase The Scent of Peace. I couldn't decide which scent I wanted (they all smell incredibly good), but I figured their best seller was a good place to start. After buying my first bottle, I joined their "fragrance club" and have received two large samples - Andy Warhol and Coney Island. None of them smell as good as The Scent of Peace (or Bryant Park), but I really like the program because I can always go online and trade with another Bond enthusiast. Eau-de-mmmmmmmmmmm. Bond No. 9 smells lovely. I walked in and immediately wanted to close my eyes and imagine myself on a bed of flowers, or maybe sitting on a cloud, or even snuggled up close to someone's neck. Bond No. 9 has that effect on you. With all of their many scents, not one over powered one another. It was refreshing, classy, and sexy. The store was spacious, light and airy. And gosh, those little star shaped bottles. They are almost too cute to leave behind. I wasn't in the position to buy but my friend was and she knew exactly what she wanted. The sales people were extremely nice and friendly, not snobbish at all, a character trait that could have easily been the thickness of air in a place like this. The cool Warhol branding and NYC nods are nothing compared to what's inside the bottles. The scents are key here and everything else is icing on the cake. Did I mention that they give out samples by the handful? And if you put yourself on their preferred mailing list, they will send you some periodically? How's that for some extra sugar? Purchased a bottle of Perfumista Avenue with the help of master blender James- he started by asking me what is my signature or favorite scent and took it from there. I've tried a few samples of their perfumes before but none hit the spot. I was very intimidated when I first walked in from the huge selection but Lara approached me right away to help guide me in the right direction. I didn't want to smell more than 3-4 scents before deciding on one that I liked enough. Everything was just impeccable from the service by everyone, approach, and of course, the presentation. Lara gave me a huge selection of samples because she knew I lived in CA and there isn't a Bond boutique near me (yes, I know NM and such carry Bond but it's just not the same to me). The thing I love the most about Bond is the longevity. One spritz in the AM and I'm good until cocktails. Yes, the price does seem high but if you factor in how long they last, everything else pales in comparison. I've received a lovely array of samples to try in the past year from their mailings. Lara even calls on occasion to make sure she had the right address. I've been enticed to purchase another bottle but I will wait until I've settled down from my move. You can bet that I am not going to Nordie's but will purchase directly from Bond. I just wish I was persuaded into buying the larger bottle since mine didn't have the bracelet! After being a Bond customer for 10 years (at least 60+ bottles for myself) and bringing them TONS of referral business in Denver...sad to say, I'm now done with this company. I recently received a bottle as a gift and it showed up completely damaged. It truly looked like it had been thrown in some gravel, had leaked, and the box was ripped all over on the inside, clearly not the fault of UPS, but their packager. I was heartbroken and immediate emailed them; only to be responded to with condescension and patronizing. Not to mention, when I requested a shipping label to exchange the bottle, so I wouldn't have to incur the shipping costs due to THEIR mistake, I was given a scoff and a flat NO. They didn't even offer me to take the bottle to the local Nordstrom counter to do a quick exchange. Nope, I had to repackage, go to the post office, and waste 45 mins there and the $$ to ship it back. Then the 'manager' Marie calls me, not to fix the situation and save a very loyal customer, but to be completely rude and shirking the responsibility of this onto someone else. This woman should not be in contact with customers, her demeanor is atrocious. By the way, Marie, you WORK there...you aren't SHOPPING there like I have been for years, so lose the attitude. I have the money, clearly, but because of you, I will be taking my money elsewhere, as will everyone I know. No perfume smells good enough for me to be treated like garbage by some unjustifiably pretentious old woman. Hopefully, the real management of this company will read this and either invest in some serious coaching for her, or rethink her 'fit' with this position. So embarrassing! I'm a big fan of Bond No. 9's scents and have been wearing them literally since the day they became available at Saks. When several friends visited from out of state early this year, I wanted to show them a special, New York-specific line and the beautiful Bond boutique. We're 40, well behaved, and dressed nicely for a day of shopping together. My friends would have bought bottles if we weren't treated like dirt! I'd hoped someone would show off the line, make it a nice experience and my friends would have something to remember the trip by. Alas, we were snubbed, snobbed and scolded. I learned about Bond9 from a briefly run magazine called Cargo. This must've been 2005 or so. The write up about it sounded amazing but I never figured I'd have access to it living in Atlanta at the time. Fast forward to Black Friday 2009 and my wife and I just so happen to find ourselves at Saks 5th in Atlanta where we found out that Bond was offered through them. My first purchase was a candle (I think it was West Side) and a standard bottle of New Harlem. It took me no time at all to realize that I was never going to wear any of my other name brand scents again. Fast forward to today, I haven't had a ton of Bond fragrances or candles simply because I don't have a million dollars to buy them all, but I can say that the only fragrances & candles that I've had for the last 10 years have been Bond No. 9. Two years ago, I was able to fly to NYC and go to the flagship store. It was a dream come true for me. I have been a fan since 2005 and I'm so happy to see this brand thriving. Sometimes things happen for the best. I was devastated when Bond left Nordstrom. It was my favorite perfume line and living in Minnesota, the only store that carried it. When I needed to replace a scent, I called the customer service number and spoke to Maxim. WOW! Did I luck out. Not only was he knowledgeable and very personably, but he actually made me feel as if we knew each other for years and I had been coming in to the store for all the years - felt like his best customer. That is not easy to do on a phone call. He follows up on all my orders to make sure I am happy and always sends samples and cards to let me know when new scents are coming. I tried a few scents and then went and did some shopping and lived with them for a couple of hours. They were busy with some kind of press thing for a new scent when I returned but still gave me good service. Gorgeously elegant cavernous store! Then fragrances they offer are diverse and fun to get acquainted with, and the staff is very adept at helping. However, it's that aspect that makes me give 3 stars... The staff is knowledgeable, but unfortunately they get dismissive if you don't buy something immediately. At first personable, and they are willing to spend time with you to introduce you to scents, but you are made to feel dismissed if you don't make a purchase. Also, you find they tend to show you fragrances they like, not necessarily what you say you like and what may smell good on you. I'm impressed with the variety, the aesthetics, and supporting a local business (sorta), but I don't appreciate being dismissed just because you want to allow scents to dry down and sit for awhile. Fragrance is a very personal choice, and a customer shouldn't be made to feel bad because they don't want to jump immediately to buy something! read more

Super chic and expensive, but Bond No. 9 is ridiculously loyal to their customers. I have only been to the one on Madison, but the sales people still remember me and what scent I wear as well as my preferences. They take their time with you, they give a bunch of free samples (wrapped up to look like adorable little candies) and after you make one purchase, they put your name on their mailing list and send you very generously sized samples of new fragrances as they come out. The staff is very friendly and they definitely know their stuff. I really enjoy how you can mix scents and create your own sort of custom scent. Also, they sell very very neat bottles to put those scents in. The fragrances smell great and theres so many different kinds to choose from. Also, the bottles are collectible which adds to the appeal of collecting them all (working on it but I don't like all the scents)... Even if you're not that into perfume, you should take a look at this store. The samples are really cute and it's just nice to look at the different fragrances they have. By the way, the limited edition ones with the crystals are amazing. I've invested in one, but I would never use it because it would ruin the crystals on it. (It's more for decorative purposes) If you want a New York fragrance, Bond No. 9 is definitley the chic way to go. Friday afternoon 3pm walking pass by the store with my little boston terrier, the puppy happen to do her business near the side of the store on the pedestrian sidewalk, the security guard Leno (not sure if it's his real name) from the Bond No. 9 open the door and shout at the puppy to take it else where. Surprised by his action I went in and tried to speak to the manager, conveniently not around so I tried to speak to one of the sales person and from the reaction received I know this will be the last time I set my foot in the store. The perfume may smell nice but the unnecessary bad attitude overpowered - offend others. read more

Looking for something more wintery than my usual Bond High Line, I strolled into the store. The displays were appealing but overall the space was kind of chintzy. I expect more if I'm dropping 2-3 Benjamin's on perfume! The friendly SA who looked like something out of Zoolander patiently spritzed and suggested until I settled on the signature scent. I'm obsessed with Bond perfumes! I couldn't wait to take my friend here to check it out, but our sales person was a total douche that acted like we were a waste of time. I own 8 of these currently, not to mention the ones I've gone through and gifted. I was shocked because they certainly don't act like that at meat packing location or Saks. This guy wouldn't give me a sample! I just wanted to try it on my skin as it smells different on me than paper. He said they didn't have samples! Lol...uhhhh you forget there's a mirror and we can SEE the samples behind the counter! Sampling is key in retail. I will take my ass all the way to Saks before I buy here. read more

Hello, I first contacted yor customer service over 6 months ago to explain that a small part of the bottle of my perfume bottle had chipped off naturally. I never received a response. It is very difficult for me to use the bottle because of this problem. This is because each and everytime I spray, perfume all comes out of the small hole. I live in France so unfortunately could not immediately transport the bottle to one of your locations at this moment. When I was back visiting my family in New York I immediately visited the flagship store and spoke with the store manager. She reassured me she would give me a replacement bottle and samples to make up for this problem. When I arrived at the store, I was told I would in fact have to purchase the bottle and she had nothing arranged for me as promised. As I have waited months and have tried calling your customer service on countless occassions I unfortunately am left with nothing to do but write a negative YELP review. It is truly unfortunate as we have been very supportive of your company and I can no longer say this will continue unless I get immediate assistance. read more

I'm going to let you in on a secret. But shhh, don't tell anyone else. As much as I love other fragrance stores for their rarity's, it's Bond Number 9 in it's various forms that I always reach for. No matter which one I wear someone always stops me and tells me how great I smell. I love that the scents always last and last and last which is one of the reasons the company is famous. If I had to choose one fragrance for the rest of my life it would be from Bond. The big bottles last forever, so you can totally justify the price. We didn't go to the Greenwich village one, but to the Bond no. 9 on the upper East Side, but the fragrances are the same. My wife fell in love with the Saks Fith Avenue for women, and I really liked the Wall Street for men. Some of the scents are rather odd, and most of the ones I tried tended towards the light and citrusy, but the Wall St. really was outstanding, and the Saks for men isn't bad either. The East Side location (on Madison and 72nd) is small, but service is pleasant and welcoming. read more

After buying many gifts here, I went here while the store was completely empty. Was greeted in a loud, hovering, aggressive way by a young Latina (?) saleswoman. She made me feel so uncomfortable that instead of browsing I asked for a few samples to get out of there. She gave me one and as I asked for another she said it sold out. Asked for another, she said that was too. Finally I named a third one because I could see behind her that there was a box full of this scent and she got loudly yelled look I can't you give you more than one. This is totally false. I couldn't shake the sense she simply didn't want me in the store from the jump.
