An excellent place to pick up a nice Tshirt or sweatshirt at a good price that's a fabulous reminder of your visit to Manly beach, I now have about 25 of these memories in long sleeve and short sleeve styles, they're quality products and I've brought home even more for my friends. I don't know about you, but I judge a surf shop as either real of fake, depending on whether or not they sell surf boards as well as clothes. Maybe thats a bit harsh, but I figure if they don't sell 'em, there a clothes shop, not a surf shop. Maybe the yelpers out there will disagree? Anyway, this is a proper surfshop, if not called a surboard warehouse. Heaps to choose from, and professional advice! Stocks new and second hand surf boards! This place also does the surf shop thing and sells surf clothes and accessories. As for buying a surfboard, this place doesn't look the cheapest to me. I think I'd be surprised if theres a board for sale less than $400 ish, so for the beginniner or cheapskate (like myself) I might not say its for you. But the guys and friendly an very knowledgeable, and will help you find what you're looking for. Just bewarned it might cost a bit more. Other than that, it's a top notch establishment within walking distance of the wharf and beach at manly. If you're board shopping, I'd definitely say to drop on in and take a look about.

Mistake...I got hounded by a salesman who insistently wanted to show me "sic boards" that he loves to ride. After telling him various times what I like and am interested in he continued to pull boards off the shelf and tell me I'd love them....ended up telling him to stop and go away.

Billabong is arguable the ultimate surfing brand, and Manly is definitely the ultimate location for…read moresuch a shop. Located on the sunny and surfy Corso, Billabong is a rad shop. The staff are way cute and friendly, offering suggestions and alternatives. Their cute accents don't hurt, either! The shop itself is nice - spacious, a baby ramp and blonde wood that suits the location to a tee. The best thing about it - about any store, really - is the clothes. Of course there are surfboards and wetsuits and all those things, but i REALLY like the clothes. The stock has an undeniable surfy bent to it - brightly coloured dresses feature heavily in the women's section, as does crochet. The stock here manages to toe the fine line between being surfy "themed" and being overly, annoyingly kitsch - certainly no Hawaiian prints here. If you're into trendy but not try hard, casual but not crap clothes, then Billabong is great spot.

Presumably Dad is too busy at work to care about clothing but for those who can make it out of the office Hayman is a little treasure. A cool(ish) gentlemen outfitters they focuses on Northern European brands and I'd say there target is: smart, fashion conscious men from mid-twenties on. This isn't a cutting edge fashion store rather a well selected version of David Jones. The windows always make me homesick as they often reflect outfits that my dad would wear and then I shudder and realise that my husband would wear them too. This is not bargain hunter territory. The owner once refused to discount a Ted Baker suit because he "has larger overheads than DJs, so they can do sales" - we drove to DJs and saved $150. If your wallet doesn't quibble then this could be a great little shop for a new shirt for that boys night on the town or dress down Fridays.
