Nice little store. Very convenient. Nice selection of products though I wish they didn't sell the bongs and pipes.

Some of the coolers have been fixed, but it isn't known how well they are doing in today's heat. Food was thrown out, once at the direction of the health department. The cooks have worked in 140 degree temperatures. People have passed out. A minor threw up because of the heat and was told they couldn't go home. Someone suffered an asthma attack and had to be admitted to the hospital and then was guilted and threatened to come in the next day. OSHA has been out, but no one could tell that the "fixes" failed because the weather wasn't hot. The active complaint number is # 2448729. The lake county health inspector has been out and notified again. But they are there to protect capital. To minimize the risks of lawsuits, but to keep the doors open. Basically to help protect the owners from their own selfish nature. A manager told an employee that if they shut down because of the heat, where would they replace $7000? The employees health is valued less than that. Please share this wherever you can. I can't track down all the people who may have been exposed to contaminated food. I can't talk to every employee that was sickened because revenue was more important than their health. I don't want the restaurant to close, I want tough enough consequences that it is cheaper for them to take care of their employees at work than it is to ignore them. Please feel free to copy and paste this to any local Facebook community groups.

(Phonetic Spelling: k-vahs). Russian kvass is a probiotic-rich, low-alcohol beverage made primarily from rye bread, distinguishing it from other fermented drinks like kombucha and kefir, which use different base ingredients and fermentation processes. Unlike many commercial versions of kvass, traditional kvass retains live cultures and has a unique, complex flavor profile. (I liken it to cold root beer, with a hint of sassafrass tea). The brand we purchase comes in a two liter & has live cultures, so it is refrigerated; it features an Orthodox Papal figure. It is delicious! He usually also purchases various chocolates and candies, as well as small frozen sweets that resemble tiny chocolate dipped waffle cone ice creams. I know minimal Russian, so he usually speaks for us. TBH-I don't think I'd be comfortable going as a non native Russian speaking consumer.

They have phenomenal chocolate individually wrapped candies that you buy by the pound. I can't read whatever language is printed on these candies so it's always a guess. They are delicious and I just love the surprise element. The last time I was here, I got their pork schnitzel and a fresh pickle. Again, absolutely delightful. We are so fortunate to have ethnic markets like this in our area. Whenever I'm on the east side I try to go there. The service is great and I'm sure somebody could help me translate when a label is not in English, but most of the foods have pictures and are pretty self-explanatory. I also want to mention that it's very clean.

They have your usual produce as well as some interesting finds like dragonfruit, papaya, mangoes, and fun melon varieties. Their prices for staples like carrots and potatoes cannot be beaten! They do have varieties of meats as well, including Amish chicken. They carry Amish fry pies too, sometimes from Der Dutchman! We also love the fancy pastas available, and that they carry Original Bagel company bagels from Bohemia, NY (this New York girl is very particular about what she calls a good bagel!). We've been going here since before my baby girl was born in 2025, and we've been bringing her along with us since she was an infant. The staff recognizes her and is always so friendly and sweet with her, and she always enjoys shopping with us and picking out an 'emotional support fruit' to carry along on her shop. It IS important to note that the store is on the small side and that the aisles are quite narrow. It can also be packed during peak hours, so you just need some patience. It's worth it!

If I am in the Willowick area I will usually try to stop by Sweetberry Fresh Market to see what I can find. Sweetberry is a medium sized market with a large selection of produce and fruits, a full deli counter, butcher counter, bakery, groceries and prepared foods. Once you have parked you get your first taste of what is best and freshest since they have a display of vegies on sale on the side and front porch; which is open in the summer and covered in the winter. Inside you find a tightly packed market which is usually packed with people. The staff does a nice job of keeping things moving, but it can get a bit overwhelming and slow at times. I usually concentrate on the fruits and vegetables; prices are moderate, although I can usually find good deals on the sale items. For me I can pass on most of the other food, while they have a freezer of frozen fish and seafood, there is no fresh seafood. Most times I visit Sweetberry while the selection is good between the crowds and the prices, I either leave with nothing or just a couple of items. If you are in the area Sweetberry is a good alternative to the grocery stores, but probably not worth a special trip.
