Today, his shop in The Strand is apparently the largest stamp shop in the world. It is a true paradise for stamp collectors with a retail section, interactive displays, very knowledgeable staff and an auction room selling rare collections. There are some beautiful stamps on display and while I would never pay the sums demanded for them, I can see why people find them fascinating. As our letter writing is plummeting world-wide as electronic communication becomes ever more pervasive, it is sad to think that one day in the near future, we may no longer have stamps. Or perhaps, that would raise the value of stamps as collectors' items....
