The parking lot was already pretty full as vehicles were parking up on the drive in. Fortunately we found a spot right away. There were all sorts of people around. From joggers and walkers to families to older folks. It's a short walk of a few blocks to the Falls. It's very scenic. Before you know it you can hear the water cascading down the mountain and you have reached the base of the falls. Feel free to take your shoes off or wear sandals as you can walk in the cool water. A lot of fun on this beautiful day. As the weather heats us, I'm sure even more folks would visit and walk in the cooling beautiful water of Bridal Falls Veil.

Combined with the steep incline, it was just slow going but no special gear was necessary. It's always the downhill with these conditions that get me, but I didn't fall this time. Yes, it is steep in parts but there were enough not so steep parts for you to catch your breath. With the sunny weather and a less hazy day, I was treated to a beautiful view of Provo, Utah Lake and all the surrounding mountains dusted with fresh snow. If you have time for only one hike in the area, this wouldn't be a bad one. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

If I could choose 3 ways to describe Squaw Peak Trail, I would choose,…read more 1. Steep...ish 2. Pretty 3. Filled with wild-life 1. Squaw Peak isn't the steepest hike I've done in my life, but it was pretty steep! (Not steeper than the Y...don't worry.) The first bit of the trail is a gradual incline on the thicker paths of Rock Canyon Trail. After hiking on Rock Canyon Trail for a while, you turn left onto a smaller, poorly marked trail. This is Squaw Peak Trail! It is steeper, narrower, and more secluded than Rock Canyon trail. There are parts of the trail that are pretty easy to walk through, and there are other parts that are suuuper steep. It sounds tough, but anyone who is in average shape should be able to do it just fine. 2. The entire hike is gorgeous! The view from the bottom is pretty as you look up to the jagged-looking rocks. Then, the trail is pretty as it runs through densely packed trees and other plants. THEN, the view from the top is amazing!!!! On one side you can see the trees growing on the side of the mountain, and on the other side you can see the entire Utah Valley -- all the way from the point of the mountain in Lehi until far south of Provo! It is such a beautiful view. And there are beautiful, blooming flowers and plants covering the top of the mountain. 3. The ENTIRE hike, my head was getting swarmed by bees and flies. I had used fragrant dry shampoo and was wearing scented lotion, and it must have attracted them, because they would not leave me alone! I wish I had brought bug spray! We also saw a snake. It was actually huge. I heard something moving and looked near my feet and saw a thick, long, black and yellow snake right next to my feet!!!! I was sort of freaking out, but it ended up being okay. I looked it up after, and I think it might have been a kingsnake, which is non-venomous. #Phew! We also had someone warn us on our way up that they recently saw a rattlesnake on the path. So watch where you step, and stay on the trail! It took me and my cousin about 2.25 hours to hike to the top and 1.25 to hike to the bottom. I would give yourself at least 4 hours total to do this hike so you have enough time to enjoy the views at the top! It's worth it!

Like Silver Lake Trail; Mount Timpanogos Trail also begins with a surrounding of aspen trees and eventually becomes an exposed area as you climb up the side of the mountain towards the waterfall. There were a few water crossings but easily accessible with rocks. In addition, there was a slightly steep rock and root scrambling prior to reaching the waterfall. Furthermore, the trail was a narrow and rocky incline. Parking lot can fill up fast at the trailhead because a few different trails share the same parking. Restrooms available at the trailhead. It's about 3 miles round…read moretrip, and the route follows the same route as the main trail to the summit of Timpanogos, but branches off after about a mile and a half up to a beautiful waterfall. It's a moderate hike, not too steep but also steep enough where you feel like you're getting a decent workout. The trail is always a little wet towards the waterfall due to the streams that run through it. There's a bit of a scramble to the waterfall as well. It's also dog friendly so you can bring your pups! You can't beat the views here - all of the trails I've ever hiked in American Fork canyon are just stunning. It's my favorite canyon to hike, and my favorite place to be. I absolutely love it here. It's also a great place to go to beat the heat down in the valley, it's always much cooler along the trails here. This is a great hike to do if you're wanting the views, but not wanting to summit Timp.

I used to hike the Y regularly back in my younger days (and let's be very, very clear--I'm not…read more*that* old yet). But this week I took my kids up, and it was an awesome, nostalgic experience. I was worried the little ones wouldn't make it, but joke's on me--*I* was the one huffing and puffing like an overheated freight train. It's not a super hard hike if you're in decent shape, but if you've been skipping leg day (or cardio day, or all days like I have), pro tip: take you time. The views are worth it, and so is the sense of accomplishment once you hit the top. Still one of Provo's best.

There are different sections to park and enough spaces in the parking lot. The houses on the hills are beautiful on the drive up. I wonder how much real estate is up here. We followed that giant Y just above BYU. It is a popular trail among locals and students... as well as visitors. You can bring pets on your hike, they must be on a leash and, of course, must clean up after them. At the start of the hike you are already at 6,076-ft so there is some elevation there already. You've had gained another 145 feet if you make it to the top of the Y at 6,221-ft. Seems easy? Well, be prepared because it's steep and can be slippery and falling rocks are a possibility. It was a peaceful Sunday evening watching the sun set from the parking lot and the weather was nice and comfortable. Review #1792

Our first time visit to this trail had us drooling for more…read more Visiting in late March, there were grassy and rocky cliffs/rock formations on each side of the canyon with a perfectly snow-capped peak right in the center. Just before sunset, the whole canyon was warmly lit - glistening in grandeur - begging to be photographed. We were short on time - needing to return to the Bonneville Shoreline Trailhead (about 1.75 miles away) before dark but this scene beaconed us in such a way that we had to press on up its steep steps - curious to see how the view might shift with each step! Leaving the trail with only a taste of what these Dry Canyon trails could offer, we placed this high on our list of considerations for a post-work hike!

There is a little spot where someone had built a fire (not sure if allowed) where you can rest and enjoy the lake views. For something intermediate there is a trail that ascends further into a meadow that is a great place to rest for lunch. I recommend good sun block and a hat on very sunny days since there is very little coverage most of the trail. This is perfect for a family hike on the weekend, or a relaxing hike even during the weekdays.

Only wished there was more signage to help us navigate the web of trails. Update: We were able to hike part of the Slate Canyon trail yesterday. It is an 8.5 mi. loop, considered a "difficult" rating. Due to time constraints we were only able to check out about a quarter of it. Very beautiful view of the cliffs on the trail, and excellent resting spots with good shade. Very family friendly, with some flat parts of the trail and nice climbing as well. Carrier recommended for toddlers.

Searched up easy, short winter hikes for solo hikers and this popped up, super glad it did! This hike is an absolute must try if you live in Utah county. It is just 1.3 miles round-trip and only took about 15 minutes to get up to the frozen waterfall. The waterfall was absolutely beautiful, all of the ice crystals and trees were stunning. It is pretty slippery this time of year so I would bring hiking poles or hiking boots that have good traction so that you can get down to the waterfall. I unfortunately wore the wrong shoes so I couldn't go all the way down. Parking lot: Free Size: Small Bathroom: Yes Men and women Toilet: Regular; water-based. From the parking lot to the waterfall, took 15 minutes, give or take. The trail is slightly incline, some parts more, than others and since I haven't worked out in the past few months, I was slightly out of breath, but nothing extreme before the waterfall. Moreover, there is also a path down to the waterfall, with a log to sit on, and taken in the beautiful waterfall. If one decides to go further up, the path does continue on top of the waterfall, right hand side. This trail is easy and no way of getting lost to the water fall. In additon, If you're looking for more beyond the waterfall, there is a much smaller one shortly ahead, but after that, there is not much to see. A lot of snow and mud, and dry plants. And after the second smaller waterfall, the trail does get challenging because it's all uphill. Unfortunately, I did not make it to the meadows. I came across two hikers who said they did go to meadows and it was ugly right now. I wanted to see for myself and on the way there, the path itself was very ugly, muddy and dry. Henced, I turned back. Overall, family friendly, easy hike, and make sure to bring a hat because a lot of the trail after the waterfall is direct sunlight, no shade.

This is a great trail located about 5-10 minutes from town, about 5-6 miles out and back. Parking…read moreis pretty easy. There is a water source and bathrooms located right before the trailhead. First you will pass by some beautiful rock formations and then walk along rocky trails heading east alongside the beautiful mountain creek. As you make your ascent, you will cross five bridges and reach the half way point at around 2 miles. The trail gets a little more strenuous here so I recommend taking it slower and stopping for some water breaks. Eventually you will make a sharp right turn onto a dirt trail that will loop you around the mountainside. Here you'll enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains and the mountain water source. There are more rock formation views on the way back, and a nice look towards Utah lake as well. Round trip took us about 4 hours with heavier gear (50-60+ lb). Recommended minimum of two liters of water per person. There are patches of coverage from trees and some spots where you are exposed to sunlight, so sunblock / hat is a good idea!
