Yes, you'll be greeted by the sweetest lady with a ton of book knowledge. You will need to squeeze through books piled on the floor. You might see a broken shelf or two held up by books. The store is only open on Saturdays, I'm thinking from 11am-5pm or so.

The older lady will tell you everything and can find anything. I talked to her just about my history with the Book Barn. In 1998, Lansing Middle School had an accelerated reader program. You read books and take tests on the computer (big deal at the time) and you are awarded points. I earned enough points that I was awarded a gift card to The Book Barn. It was written on a card with the amount, and each time you spent some of it the cashier would write the new amount on it. I walked in and asked for any recommendations. The younger lady working there gave me Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. She gave Atlas Shrugged to a 13 year old. I tackled that beast. It took me 9 months, but I plowed through it and can now proudly say that I have read Atlas Shrugged. Overall, great service, great place to get lost it for an afternoon. The store itself is completely unorganized and you wonder if the shelves are going to topple in. But he has an exceptional collection of used non-fiction books. He has all types of genres and classic books. His Christian section is better than most Christian bookstores. He has very high-quality authors. He has manuals, a selection for black voices, various countries, cookbook, health, psychology, you name it on the non-fiction and he probably has it. He is friendly and helpful and it would probably be best to ask him where some items might be since the store is overcrowded and not organized very well. Some books have the prices on the inside cover and some you have to ask him and you can bargain with him as well as long as your bargaining is reasonable. Even though the photos that I have submitted show disorganization, he really does have an exceptional amount of good books.

They buy books but only twice I guess? I reached out a couple times to sell books or trade and been told they're not buying. Which is perfectly fine if you don't want to buy customers books. According to the workers, their shops were new-ish due to half the space being constructed into a microbrewery. Prior to that, they were spread out around the space. Blue & Grey is the only book store within the four walls. The majority of the selection are history books and cookbooks. I found a large copy of the Illustrated History of Jackson County which detailed postal codes, city development, and land ownership in the early years. Other history topics include WWI, the American Revolution, and the Civil War. I also found the Collectors' Guide to Cookie Jars.There are some VCRs on the shelves too. Everything is reasonably priced. Becky, the owner, was bubbly. She talked to me about what's inside the store and showed me the adjacent art gallery featuring 12 local artists. It seemed that she really enjoyed working in this space with the artists. In short, this space is worth a walk through, and if you can support any of the local artists/vendors inside, do it!

They have a mix of new and second hand books, including a large non-fiction collection. They don't have a huge selection of books or a huge coffee menu, but they have plenty for browsing and enjoying. Can't say I found a price on a lot of the books, so I'm not sure how affordable it is, but you're supporting a small business! They are focusing on putting on more community events and workshops in the coming year. I went to a great (free!) poetry and perfume workshop that was tons of fun. Connected to Black Cat Records in the back and the Stray Cat next door. Usually a good amount of parking available on 17th and Washington.

That's certainly the case with Planet Queen's proprietors. They know music and know it to a degree that would be frightening were it not instead so awesome. Terrible movies? Well yes, those too. Terrible TV shows? Again, YES! The inventory is organized intuitively and is both easy to navigate and constantly growing. Be sure to ask them about the HALLMARK MOVIE that filmed across the street from them. Oh, and ignore the 1-star review from the guy named Gordon. He's a literal Old Crank who elects to try to sabotage the businesses of people he doesn't care for. Read the review and you'll see he's never been in the place. Lame.

DONT SHOP HERE!!!!…read more Olha at the zona rosa vintage stock is a muy mal human being. In case she's not wearing her name tag, She's a short dumpy girl with glasses. She tried to convince me that a collectible was complete in box when it was visibly showing slots for parts that were empty. She told me those are for the parts on the figure and i took her at her word. I felt at-ease when she told me I had 30 days to return it for a full refund. I asked if I could return it to the entertainmart in Saint Joseph (also a joke of a business) because I live an hour north of here. She said yes! After some online research I see the figure is indeed missing parts. 6 in total. I called the Saint Joseph Entertainmart to make sure what Olha told me was correct. She verified and told me to bring them in. I was greeted by a guy that told me to head to register 1 for my refund. I went to register 1 and was next in line when the cashier just walked out of the store without saying anything to me. Not hold on, excuse me, NOTHING! Then after 10 minutes the guy walks in and says the district manager told him I cannot return the items because they are used. One was brand-new according to vintage stock and the other was used. They told me I could take them back to zona rosa and get my refund. How convenient! I'm at work so I ask my wife to take them back for me. The guy working the counter immediately said, "didn't the Sain't joseph store already tell you No on this return". My wife said, "actually the saint joseph store said to bring them back here." When asked by the male worker why Olha told me I could return these items she exclaimed, "I never said that!" They basically told my wife tough luck and have a nice day. To sum it up, Not only are the employees at these stores untrained. They are also liars with terrible customer service skills. They reserve the right to refuse a return, even if it's a legit return, as they see fit. The manager has the final say on a case by case basis according to their online website, which is full of grammatical and spelling errors which adds to the sketch of this business. Olha, learn what your store policy is, don't blurt stuff out of your mouth if it isn't true. While we're on the subject of truth, when asked if you said something that you definitely said, be an adult an own up to it. Don't lie a second time to avoid accountability
