This quaint independent bookstore is located at 112 Market Street in a small building right next to the Historic Roanoke City Market Building in Downtown Roanoke. I have always been fascinated by bookstores, especially ones of this size and nature. So today I decided to walk in to explore it first hand. One of the things that impressed me the most was how clean and well organized it was. From the shinny windows of its storefront to its clean floors and shelves. As I entered, I received a warm welcome by a young lady employee with a nice personality who you could tell she loved her job. She most enthusiastically explained what they had available and where everything was. They carried bestsellers, new fiction, and non-fiction, classic and local interest books, along with high-quality used books. BNF features books about the Roanoke and New River Valleys and the works of local authors along with a special selection of Appalachian fiction and non-fiction. They also provided special orders service, helping find hard-to-find books, and book club specials. Their collection also includes the works of more than 50 local and regional authors and the surrounding areas. Book No Further isn't just a bookstore; it's also a gathering place for the community. The shop regularly hosts book signings, author talks, and book clubs, featuring celebrated writers and spotlighting new talent from the Blue Ridge region. Before leaving I had the privprivilege of meeting Doloris Vest, one of the co-owners of Book No Further Bookstore. I thanked her for the great contribution she is providing to the Star City of Roanoke and its community with her engaging bookstore. Books open windows of knowledge and opportunities as well as provide value and entertainment to all of us. With her creative imagination by incorporating different book clubs, community members gatherings, and many other diverse events, she is contributing to the quality of life of this community and to making the City of Roanoke so special. read more

This fun little bookshop was in the heart of Roanoke's downtown area. There was a smaller upstairs area with (from what I recall) children's books, while the lower half held fiction and other genres. There were also fun trinkets such as stickers and bookmarks. The staff was helpful and friendly. Would definitely visit again when in town. While the downtown area itself is relatively small, there are tons of shops and restaurants to explore. So if you're interested in visiting this bookstore, consider coming with an appetite so you can make an evening of the adventure! read more

Love this little space! Their collection is extremely well curated - new books (not used, tho there are some to choose from), lots of local authors. Great section on social justice and LGBTQ writers/topics. The staff are friendly and helpful, and I'm looking forward to attending one of their events. And great location for getting a snack or meal or planning a whole day of activities. read more

I dropped by for the second time ever, 14May24, at Book no Further for only 3 minutes or so. I came in to pick up an obscure book that I ordered in person a few days previously. My first visit, a few days ago, I brought only an idea of what I thought the book was about. Years ago, I remember reading three or four pages out of it, and was fascinated, but had to put it down for some reason. After only a couple minutes of delightful conversation, this Master bookkeeper was able to help me find what I was looking for! read more

This place is everything I hoped for in a bookstore! The store itself is a decent size and everything is laid out so nicely. I appreciated the banned books collection and that they had a summary sticking out of each book explaining why it was banned and when. It was so interesting to read through and explore the different books they had! They even had this cute display that was offering a date with a book where the book is wrapped in newspaper and they provide a quick synopsis but beyond that you have no other information. We left with two "date" books and so far are enjoying them thoroughly! We'll be back for sure! read more

I took a weekend trip to Roanoke and popped in to get something for the train ride home. I had a great chat, I think with Swade, of what kind of books I liked. I just finished the book that Swade recommended, Cadwell Turnbull's 'No Gods No Monsters" and it was exactly what I was looking for! read more

Wow, what a great find! We were exploring the city market area and found this shop. I had read about it before, so I was excited to check out. Nice collection of books of all kinds. Small but roomy shop, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. A nice collection of local authors. Several places to sit and enjoy the books. Separate area upstairs for kids, but still in sight of parents. I highly recommend you pay a visit. read more

Loved this cute shop, had some interesting reads and banned books. Loved the blind date with a book idea

My wife and I were downtown and I showed her this store. I found a book on the cart out front and took it inside to purchase. I was told that the book was misplaced and she couldn't sell it at the price on the cart . She made no offer to sell it at whatever price she wanted or to discount it because of the mistake. She just took the book and set it aside. I will never shop here and will make sure to tell everyone I know not to shop here either. read more

LOVE this book store! The staff is always super helpful, and if they don't have something in stock, they will order it for you and text you when it arrives. I think they can also send it to your house, but I may be mistaken on that. I love that they have a local authors section and one that is specific to Appalachia. I've never had a bad experience here and it's just a great place to hang out in. There is no rush when purchasing books, they let you read and get acquainted with what you might like first.
