Books-A-Million has a wonderful selection. Everything is well organized, neat, and easy to browse. It's the kind of store book lovers could spend hours in. However the prices are ridiculously high compared to online retailers like Amazon. I love the atmosphere and experience of shopping in person but it's hard to justify the higher prices for the same books that I could get delivered to me. A couple of the employees here (specifically at opening yesterday 6-17-26 need to take a breath of fresh air or perhaps go touch grass. BAM posted they had needohs in stock. So to clarify, the place they work informed the public that they had stock of the toy people can't ever find for their kids. Seems simple, right? We go there when they open at 10- my kids so excited to get their hands on something they have been wanting so bad. We get in there and the two women working had attitudes of a middle school teenagers. They couldn't believe they had to deal with people who were eager (and all respectful) to get a toy (that they posted!!!). I reminded the one with the worse attitude that it's really not that big of a deal, this is just exciting and makes kids so happy. She responded with no words . Again, acting like a child. I fear even a teenager would have a better attitude. I understand there ARE people who have bad attitudes about these toys but none of us were those people and they should have mentally prepared for people to be there when they opened. Surely there is some meditation they could do before experiencing the horror of parents getting a toy for their kids. I pray they make it through this craze and that the next craze is just going outside and breathing so they don't have to deal with it. God bless. read more

I hadn't stepped into a Books-a-Million in years. Stepped in to pick up an order. Ordered the first two books in the Bridgerton series. Recently I saw the TV show and I was so hooked that I finished the series in a span of days, which is saying something as I much prefer books to TV. That said, when I found out that the TV series was based on a book series I just had to get my hands on the books. I chose to start off with the first two and I ordered from this and another place, figuring whichever got to me first would be where I would get the books and the second place, well, I'd have my order canceled. True to my word, I did just that and came in to pick up my books. Imagine my surprise at how large the bookstore was. It even has a coffee shop. I'd have spent more time there, but my companion was in a rush, so picked up my books and wound up buying a card and that was that. read more

Checked this place out for the first time in need of a specific book and because of its proximity to some other establishments I wanted to check out. It was beautiful in there. So inviting. I had no problem finding what I needed or asking for assistance. The only thing difficult to find were the cash registers at check out. I would love to come again and just read and try the coffee shop. It'll be on my list next time I want some "me time." read more

Good selection. Bad, sad & bad customer service. Was looking at a section of cooking books & employee stopped a cart in front of me to start moving other books to another area - in my way as I browsed, no customer consideration or social distancing adherence on her part. Cashier was rude, incompetent, was unable to distinguish that the line was long enough to call for help. And she was snotty & curt. (Unfortunately I fell into her mode & trap and became almost as obnoxious). Service in this store has deteriorated of late. Going to Barnes, & noble next time. read more

Fun and entertaining- much more than just ordering a book off Amazon. Good place to look for gifts.

For immediate gratification - BAM is a solid gift-giving destination. I'm generally not one to rate big-box operations, but I'll have a go here - given how "BAM" has worked so diligently to maintain relevance in an Amazon-dominated world. Just as Toys R Us morphed beyond a Toy Store, BAM (years ago) began the process of transforming itself into a "Beyond a Book Store" and, arguably, has shrunk its footprint devoted to books in order to accommodate the myriad tchotchkes that spur the impulse purchasing instincts of many. In a way, Toys R Us has become a PG-rated "Spencer's Gifts" where family-friendly gag gifts co-exist with board games, Lego sets, vinyl, etc. The "etc." does no justice to itself. "Joe Muggs", a cafe lodged between the entrance and the exit, serves up able espresso concoctions and offers a solid range of cafe-esque pastries (read "biscotti, croissant and the like) in addition to other stuff. Borders (now DSW) was my favorite "big box" book store, because of location (I can walk to it) but also because of layout and inventory. It felt like a proper bookstore. Since then, Book-A-Million (I have drive further than Barnes & Noble) has become my spot when I'm not buying via www.bhphotovideo.com or www.amazon.com (I know, I'm part of the decaying "shop local" dilemma...). I haven't been in a Books-A-Million in quite a while..the only one I know of is in the Sawgrass Mills Mall and you just don't get that stand alone store experience. This Books-A-Million in Tallahassee was huge. Parking was a mess since it was two days before Christmas, so that took a while. Once inside, i looked around for which section I wanted to go to first. I did spot a small rack of vinyl records for sale. They had a wide selection, mostly rock/alternative with some rap, folk and metal sprinkled in. The prices seemed high and I didn't really see anything I wanted. I continued to wander around the store and found a little coffee counter. I ordered a small iced coffee to fuel me for the day. The coffee was very strong, not watered down like some places. Excelled iced coffee. I did find a book here but didn't spend too much time looking at everything else. You can definitely find something here for anyone on your shopping list. read more

They are a shell of what Books-A-Million used to be when they first came to town long before Barnes and Nobles and Borders, but they have adapted to the changing market. Lot more clearance books now, but they still have a good selection of new books, a huge magazine selection, a large kids book section and a Joe Muggs coffee bar for those that like to browse their purchases while sipping or munching. read more

BAM has a very friendly, inviting vibe which attracts bookworms like myself. I found myself delving deep into their vast selection of books of many different genres, including classical literature, sci-fi, mystery, etc. It is a great place to go for those who like to pick out books to read on a whim, or even work/study at a decent competitor to cafés. read more

Great selection and easy to find books. We go to several of these locations in Florida they are all good.

I went for a quiet "me time" type of day and was not disappointed. I walked around listening to my music while finding books from my childhood that I once really enjoyed. I sat in the coffee shop for a peppermint mocha frappe which was smooth with a satisfying touch of peppermint flavor. I found a Christmas gift for myself that I didn't realize I wanted until I just so happened to spot it amongst the Musicals section. I even found some new books that caught my eye that I will have to buy at a later date. Being in Books-A-Million gave me the peaceful evening I wanted and I couldn't much complain. read more

Absolutely love BAM! I can always find what I'm looking for, and if they don't have it, they are always willing to order it.

Employees don't know where to find things. Online says they have it and after waiting 15 minutes to be helped I am told they have it in store as well. When the employee can't find it she just says she has no idea and walks off. I'll keep ordering from amazon and not waste my time again coming here. read more

We looked up a book on cd on our phone prior to venturing out to the store and NO WHERE on BAM's website did it say that the price would be different in-store vs. on-line. They were "unable" to honor the price and told us we would need to take it to the higher ups... read more

This one star review is based off my coffee shop experience here. Books A Million charges $5 for internet for the day or $25 for a year. When there is free internet next door, it makes no sense to go here unless you are going to buy a book. They were rude about it and said only members can use the internet. I felt offended by their attitude and that they charge for internet. read more
