I love craft beer and was recommended Books & Beers by a couple locals. So of course I had to drag my wife, who doesn't like beer, over for a pint or 3. I prefer draft beer and they had about 12 on tap which made me very happy. I had one of their wittbiers, Belgian whites, and American-style IPAs. All were fresh and tasty. I didn't try any of their bottles but they had a huge selection of various microbrews, most of which were from Brazil. I can't really comment on the food, but what we saw at other tables looked really good.
The decor at Books & Beers is a comfortable rustic. Aged wood floors and crossbeams combined with mismatched tables. We went upstairs to the loft which seemed a bit livelier than downstairs. The place was fairly busy, populated by a fair share of hipsters (which I assume were college kids since Floripa is a university town) and older professionals. Even though it was loud, there was a relaxed, no-thrills ambiance which seemed to put the customers all in a good mood. I really enjoyed hanging out there and looking out over the Lagoa.
If you are in the mood for trying some good craft beers, then I would recommend you stop in for a couple at Books & Beers. From what I saw of the happy hour prices, your wallet definitely won't be disappointed. read more
