Town centre location, mega sales in January on their Xmas Stock & with Blackpool being quiet in the Winter there are some bargains to be had! The cosmetic sets always seem to have freebies if you spend a certain amount which means you can get a huge amount for your money in Boots!

The store seemed nice inside, the product range was OK but I did find the selection of certain items, mainly male items such as the Bulldog Skincare range to be non-existent, the same could be said for gift-sets, which seemed non-existent again, both of which Boots nearby had an ample selection of. The store does have a Pharmacy which is useful, it is one of the few pharmacies within Liverpool One. 3* - Average store, selection could be much better and there is better nearby, but one of the better choices in the main part of Liverpool One.

One of a total of nine village pharmacies in Co. Antrim, the chemist in Whiteabbey could be worse,…read morebut it could be better. The staff at times seem some what snooty. I recently had to pay for a vaccination (for tick borne encephalitis, nasty I know!) and little did I know this would end up costing me £75! Had I known, I'm sure I would have gone with money in the bank, but jobless at the time and about to embark on a mission to Romania I was near enough broke. The woman looked at me like I had six heads. How dare I come to her shop with no money (Hello! It's a chemist!?!) I just wasn't too impressed. It used to be owned by the loveliest man called Mr Gracey. Ah back in those days I could have collected the script and paid in a few days, but oh no. Not on her watch! So they've definitely lost points there. Other than that, how different can any chemist be? It's certainly not got the lovely community feel of my local chemist (See Merville) so I don't think I'll be bothering with here any longer.

It took a while before I was asked what I wanted and they were sterile in personality and not such a friendly face. They did all commuicate with each other for a while and after lots of questions they eventually said it wasn't in yet. After 2 phone calls and convincing them that it should be here, I eventually spent 30 minutes in total in that shop when my friend came in to see if I was still alive! The wee stocky woman (shop assitant) with the spikey hair was nasty looking, not helpful, very abrupt, tried to come across more important than she was. Thankfully the younger guy who was friendly and helpful did get the order, while the wee stocky woman walked off making excuses to the chemist and didn't even come back to speak or apologise to me. The young guy gave real good advice about how to double check about orders etc next time and really redeemed this store from getting no stars! Thanks matey!

The other convenient thing is that they not only collect your prescription from the health center, but keep a record of when you will be needing more medication and automatically order a new prescription. As with every other branch Boots is just that bit more expensive than it's compiditors for other things. However they have a good range and it's well laid out in a well lit store. There is a private room for consultations with the pharmacist, about anything which might be concerning you, a printout machine for digital photos, and the normal range of goods

Still, let's start with the books on the IOM, as it's what tourists like me will be looking for. First, there's The Chronicles of Man: Three Volumes of illustrated history chronicling 1900-1939, 1940-1971, and 1972-2014. There's also the four volumes of Richard Davis' Those Were the Days, a collection of Isle of Man images. They also have IOM books for kids, If you've fallen in love with Spuds and Herrin, cheese and gravy, Manx Cheddar cheese, kippers, or Queenies on your trip, there are some Manx recipe books. Manx language books, and several, of course, based on motorcycle racing (and the famed IOM TT races). All right there, and so many I was glad to buy. Then, the big surprise: They've got vinyl records ... so if you've brought a hairbun-wearing NYC hipster with you, he's in luck. The Stone Roses, Pearl Jam, Björk, and Beck ... to name a few. And, of course, a great selection of books for all. You can also special order. I'll have to wait until I retire and buy a house on the island to take advantage of that. ;)
