I obviously have never been at this time before, so was a little surprised to discover that its doors weren't open. They do, however, allow you to post your prescriptions through a letterbox on the front door, during this time. It's a pretty big pharmacy, always neat and well-organised. What's also good about this particular pharmacy is that they always have a really big discount shelf for toiletries on offer. This pleases me greatly as I hate having to pay through the nose for shower gel/ shampoo etc. Other than that, it's a pretty standard pharmacy. Apart from the fact that it has a fairly grubby carpet. This bothers me. It wouldn't bother me in most places, but it bothers me in a pharmacy. I think I just want my pharmacies to be clinically clean. I'm not sure why, it's not like they're operating on me in their store...

It is surprising that this pharmacy is here as it does look a little out of place on the busy Pershore road and there is also little parking outside. They are quite good with prescriptions, although on a few occasions they have not had my medication available and so I have had to go elsewhere or have to wait a couple of days before they can have it available for me. The staff are fairly pleasant and I usually talk to them for a bit whilst waiting for my prescription, generally asking them for advice on various ailments or products that they stock. The prices are quite standard for a pharmacy too.

They also do a very handy service whereby you can have the pharmacy order and collect your prescription from the surgery for you, to save you the trouble. You can even get it delivered if you're less mobile. The staff are quite friendly and helpful, the only problem I can find is that it can get incredibly busy, obviously due to the fact that it's attached to the surgery, so has a constant flow of poorly people passing through it!

For my services which are not teeth related, I use the multiple places in Boots. Boots (as you will already know) is a chain pharmacy and beauty store - available in train stations, city centres and most places where you may need to grab a pack of paracetamol or some plasters. This boots, however, offers a whole host of other services you may need for a range of health needs. Upstairs are your beauty counters, hygiene products and gifts (the discount on gifts after christmas is particularly good - offering 50% - 70% off), but on the lower floor are it's other services. If you pop on the escalators and head downstairs you'll find an optician, an NHS walk-in, a doctors surgery, Birmingham Uni dentists and a sexual health clinic. With the doctors surgery and dentist, you will need an appointment. The optician will see walk-ins (depending on how busy they are) and the sexual health clinic and NHS centre are totally walk-in led. This, obviously, can lead to long waiting times - but if you desperately need a doctor and can't get an appointment at your local clinic, this place is a lifesaver (probably quite literally). As well as the various medical services I have mentioned, Boots offers a "stop smoking" clinic and other health led initiatives. When I first moved into Birmingham City Centre I had no idea where my local health services would be (I was dreading having to catch a bus out of town), so for all of those who work or live in the City - this place is your one stop shop for when you're feeling off or need some supplies.

There's also the more seasonal items. Currently there are sunglasses and lotions located towards the back of the store. It's never been overly busy when i've been there even at 5pm on a weekday which is perfect if you want to spend a bit more time browsing. The meal deal is a good price (£3.49 at last check) and it includes a sandwich/wrap, a drink and a snack (up to the value of £1.25 so go for the larger ones!). The service is always quick as there's never really a queue which is great if you're in a rush.

The staff inside are friendly and very efficient and the store's range of stock is impressive to say the least. Unfortunately, Pound Crazy's organisation is a little... Well, crazy, and finding what you need can be quite a chore when you have to dig through boxes and baskets of bargains. However, this ultra-cheap, handy little shop still offers a pleasant and friendly shopping experience and cannot be knocked for its superb selection of low-priced products.
