I was scratching my head when I saw that, as in, how did that ever happened? Didn't he have the basic tool, like a level? His partner even said he had told him it was not straight. The next day he came back to fix it, but I already had a bad feeling about that. Long story short, a couple of months later, one of the balusters fell off to the ground. It was then that I realized he was using screws to tighten ONLY 1/3 of the balusters, he was using skinny nails for the rest. The balusters warped and moved because of exposure to the outdoor elements and popped out. We had to get replacements to fix the issue. I got 10 and I used them all, because more of them fell off or became warped. Then yesterday afternoon, I was just slightly leaning on one side of the railing and it shifted under my 125 lbs weight. I immediately contacted Scott. He read the message for sure, but he hasn't replied. My recommendation: do not use SJS handyman at all cost. It took him and his partner "5 days" to finished the job, because for a couple of days he would leave for late lunches and didn't come back. He even walked off middle of the job one day because of a heated argument with his partner. He's very unprofessional and without my knowledge, used some of the 20 year old existing wood added to the new deck.

I had them come out to do some painting and staining which was being covered by my insurance company. Be warned, if you have them do work for you, they will not work with you on timing for payment. I was waiting on my insurance depreciation check to be endorsed by our mortgage company. The owner called me and told me that he needed the money right away so that he could pay his contractor. So basically he was trying to make the fact that he couldn't pay his contractor my fault because I hadn't paid my invoice in full yet (I had already paid most of the bill with the first check I received from State Farm). I just needed a week to receive the final endorsed check and I would have paid in full. So, I had to pay the final bill using my credit card which meant paying the credit card processing fee. If this is really how they do business now, then that means they don't have cash in the bank to pay their bills while they wait for payment from customers. This is not a good way to do business and is a huge red flag. My advice when looking for a painting contractor for insurance work, is to ask about their ability to work with you on insurance payments. If they are unwilling to work with you, there are others that will. I neglected to ask first and got burned. As for the quality of the work, the team they sent out did a great job. That's a reflection on the contractor, not on CertaPro themselves, so take that with a grain of salt.

Handyman only put on a screen product that we were concerned would clog with the massive amount of catkins we have from an old oak. One roofing guy insisted on scheduling my appointment for Saturday AM instead of during a weekday, and then when he called to confirm, also confirmed whether my husband would be here. When I said no, he tried to reschedule. He insisted we both be here, so he was off the list. The second roofing guy did a drive by and called and explained the different products they had, and which he'd recommend. The GH rep (Darrell) came out to meet with me, explained their system without belaboring or overselling, and answered all of my questions. He gave local references, one of whom was a friend who's had GHs for 15 years (and lives on a property with lots of trees), and said he's never had an issue and has never done a thing to them. The bid was about $400 higher than the roofing company's bid, but for a lifetime warranty on a product that's been around a long time, we went for it. They installed within 3 weeks of receiving our deposit (earlier than promised), and the workmen were polite, punctual, and left no trace of themselves! Very satisfied...just waiting for fall!

I had my girlfriend waiting on me and needed it done ASAP so I paid the extra cost. After it was done I called the office and explained the situation. They said it sounds like I got scammed. Well I have a receipt from the tech with Pop-A-Locks info on it. It was their tech. When I explained that this person was from their company, the customer service rep put the blame on me and kept saying I got scammed. No shit. I got scammed from your company. If you're looking for fast service just be prepared to haggle with the tech when they arrive because you might be paying double if not. Management reached out after and said they'd take care of it. I was called by 3 other managers after apologizing. They've done nothing about the extra charge.
